If you tug on your either of your factory seat belts (the ones you replaced in video or the ones in your 78) do they stop and catch? In my 78 neither of my front seat belts catch when quickly tugged on, I am afraid that they would not catch during an incident.
@@millionmilegarage9587 Just spoke with a pro who mentioned a pendulum within the system that comes into play during an incident versus when just tugging on sitting in the driveway.
@@sebastianpowsey460 yes, it’s a lead weight on the tip of the pendulum on the stock belts, you have to jerk them pretty quick to test, a gentle tug won’t do it. Edited in: I just tried that on the 78 and could not get it to do it.
@@millionmilegarage9587I just replaced my old worn retractable seatbelts with lap seatbelts on my 1984 Dodge W100. I personally don’t like the retractable seatbelts because they always get stuck, a lot more expensive to replace.
Hi. Did you find a solution for the cover of the rear seat belt retractor? I ordered a new seat belt set, too. Iam afraid that the old cover will not fit also.
You know I never did get that sorted out. I ran across them a few weeks ago, after studying them it looks like some metal can be carefully trimmed off the reel frames without causing any loss of integrity to the structure and allow the original covers to slip on. Of course this would most likely void any warranty or liability from the manufacturer. Looks like there may be a sequel coming to a theater near you! 😄
@@cheddarchip1013 I don’t think it did, the old ones were disconnected anyway. I think my Grandad’s 75 Chevelle would not start unless belts were buckled.
The only thing I remember is the kit came with washers (if needed) to keep the reel assembly from contacting the outer roof skin. The factory bolts were re-used.
@@iamreshef There is a head of a carriage bolt that can contact the roof, clearance varies. The carriage bolt is not present on the original reel, it is used to bolt the replacement reel to the special adapter mounting bracket.
U need that part going srewed into the seat to give u more clearance on your nech i have a 79 camaro z28 n it came with that trim sucks that ur seats dont have it maybe u can find something similar cool ride 👍
Yes I have pondered on that off and on, thought about making one or taking a tour of the local pick a part to find something that could work. Was not a problem with the original ratchet style belts. I did disassemble the new reels and unwind about 7 turns of the retractor spring so it doesn’t crease my neck anymore!
They catch immediately with a quick firm tug. By design they have to do that, but don’t take my word for it, go to the source of the product to verify. By law the belts have an approval tag that means they function as restraints.
@@millionmilegarage9587 thank you for the reply. I don't suppose you know the measurements of the retractable piece? I can't seem to find that style for my specific car so I was hoping to give those a try

I am pretty sure both the old and new ones do, you have to tug pretty quickly though.

Does the new front drivers seat receptacle come with the wire harness for the seatbelt buzzer?

Do you remember the ceiling mounts bolts specs?

@@millionmilegarage9587 Thanks!
are the bolts too long so there's a risk of contacting roof skin?

It did not come with screws did it?
No, but it did come with washers to shim the assembly so it doesn’t dimple the roof.

Bipolar Garage I don’t know dimensions, I think they fit 74-81 Camaro and 74-?Nova. They are in Classic Industries online catalog.

Hello do you remember the kit number u used
It’s in the first 90 seconds of the video.
I think you can buy those gm black inserts and swap out those silver ones.
Send me the link!🙂
@@millionmilegarage9587 so it looks like they don’t sell the black ones anymore but they do sell the turquoise ones on classic industries
