I just don't understand how anyone can think it's okay to steal, especially a living breathing being. It's mind boggling to me. Jail should have been part of the punishment.
We got back from Alaska a few weeks ago. My granddaughter and her parents went on the sled dog adventure that you're describing, and the photos we have of her playing with and cuddling the puppies are priceless. Yes, she left them there.... I'm glad we got there before this incident. I don't blame the sledding company for reacting the way they have. Unfortunately, I guess I'm not surprised by bad tourist behavior - vandalizing artwork and petroglyphs, hiking off the platforms at Yellowstone, getting nude at Angkor Wat, disrespecting cultures, societies, religions, and history different from your own. It all seems depressingly normal. I wish it wasn't.
I'm sitting here shaking my head in utter disbelief that someone was this stupid and evil. Things like this ruin it for everyone else to experience the dog sled adventure. Thanks for sharing!
I went on that excursion about a month ago. It was a really great experience going on the sled ride and being able to hold the puppies. I was so impressed with the care they gave the dogs and the facilities in general. What a shame that one selfish person would ruin it for everyone and now the company has to be on high alert for all the tourists who visit. It's shocking, really.
OMG, I have heard of people taking shells back on board and being stopped, bit a living baby puppy. She should be charged with theft, attempted smuggling, trespassing and any other thing they could toss at her. BEYOND inconsiderate and cruel to the puppy.
I'm glad the cruise ship found the puppy right away, so it could be returned to its mother. It's so wonderful to hold the cute puppies and learn about dog sledding.
I'm speechless that someone would do this! It's a horrible on so many levels. My first cruise was last year to Alaska and I loved it! Unfortunately we had to by-pass Skagway as the rock slide had happened. I was booked to see the puppies! Also, I live in Victoria BC! Hope you all enjoyed your port stop here!
Wow! I am flabbergasted. I can't imagine stealing from an excursion, but it's despicable. And, to take a living creature... sometimes people really disappoint
I’m thankful there aren’t many of these crazies around. We were just in Alaska the 1st week in July and did this excursion. They had several puppies that were only 3wks old and did allow us to hold them. I just can’t imagine that someone would do such a thing.
Closest I came to something like that was a land based vacation in Mexico. We took a tour to Chichen Itza, and despite all the barriers and warning signs, a "gentleman" from our tour tried to climb up the pyramid. He had a diplomatic passport and either thought that gave him permission to do what he wanted, or at a minimum prevented him from being charged. He was promptly removed from the grounds and placed back on the bus.
As the owner of a Siberian husky, I would be furious if I even thought someone stole a puppy. Can't believe that puppy made no noise. They are not quiet dogs.
Took that exact excursion this July from NCL Jewel- great excursion and we actually were told by the staff of the dog sled excursion that a woman tried to do the same thing a couple of years before by putting one in her purse. Because of that it is hard to believe the staff didn't keep an accurate count of the number of puppies. There were 5 puppies when our group was there- not hard to keep track of 5 puppies, but perhaps the staff wasn't watching carefully.
Was this person a non U.S. citizen? Because as far as I can tell, the U.S. Supreme Court has made rulings in the past that a state isn't able to just ban U.S. citizens from entering the state. Also, I can't find any articles about this and I would assume in the case of a fine, there would have had to been a trial, the person found guilty, and the judge or jury imposed the punishment/fine. The state of Alaska, the excursion company, or the cruise line can't arbitrarily impose a fine on their own without due process. The only thing the cruise line could do is ban them from the cruise line.
The audacity of this person to steal a baby from its mother and the owners of the dogs! It's absolutely disgusting and I hope the punishments hit them hard. Why some people think they're entitled to help themselves to whatever they want is beyond my brain cells.
We were on one of these excursions a few weeks ago and we were able to pet the puppies. I know they were keeping an eye on everyone that were holding them so they were all returned. You are right that fine is way to small for what they did.
She should be sitting in jail too. Was she kicked off the ship in Skagway? I sure hope so. She should be made public so everyone knows how horrible this person is.
I once was flying back to KC. I don’t remember all the details but the woman who was sitting next to me confessed that she had smuggled aboard with an exotic bird she had from South America.
Hey JJ Cruise! That person who thought they can sneak a dog on the cruise ship was delusional! They have now got themselves black listed and ban from Alaska! That person wasn't thinking at all. Shame on them and now we all have to pay the price for his or her selfishness!
Wow! It must have happened after we visited almost two weeks ago. It’s so sad to hear about. We heard nothing about puppy theft issue until your story. Of course our tour there was the white pass train, sled dog and gold panning excursion that was through Alaska 360.
Whaaaatttttt the actual F people!!! What is wrong with people. Mind blown 🤯. They were not thinking 🤔 at all…… this is definitely the most selfish thing ever. They definitely got what they deserved. So sorry to everyone that has to pay for there wrongdoings…… thanks for the update and I hope 🤞 this changes soon.
I don't doubt this story -- of someone trying to take a puppy. But the consequences you say happen just are not possible. Alaska does not have a list of people that are banned from entry. And if they did, taking a puppy for a few hours wouldn't land you on that list. People with all kinds of criminal past that have done their time, paid their fees, or whatever, are allowed into every state. And who, exactly fined this person the supposed $10,000 dollars? The cruise line? This "crime" wouldn't be settled in courts, let alone the fine determined. This smells a lot like a tall tale (the consequences) designed to keep cruise ship passengers in line.
This person and or people who were in in it should be brought up on the most severe charges imaginable and fine much more than 10.000 each. They should also be checked out for needing professional help so they are not a danger to themselves or others
In 2022, my family took the Dog Sledding excursion in Juneau. Our dog sled guide told us that a few weeks earlier, someone had taken one of their puppies. The unbelievable thing with the Juneau tour is that it is on top of Mendenhall Glacier - and the only way to and back is via Helicopter. So someone smuggled a puppy under the coat and into the helicopter. They were supposedly stopped when getting off the helicopter at the heliport. We were told that they just were scolded and the puppy was taken back. I don't know if this is just one for the "Great Alaskan Tales" or if some people have really lost their minds.
We heard this exact story from a dog sledding company in Juneau. They claim it happened at their camp. Now I’m wondering if it’s a cruising urban legend.
How cruel and selfish. That person should have also been charged with theft and animal cruelty. The cruise line should have also thrown them off the ship and told them to figure out to get home. Other than a few sea shells I have never taken anything from anywhere nor have I ever seen any cruiser do anything so blatantly wrong.
What an idiot to be honest. That pup was probably not even weaned! And like you said, how did they really think this would play out moving forward?? Terrible behaviour and I agree they should have been jailed
Tried to verify this story and can't find anything. Is it possible that the dog company just said that because it is very stressful for pups to be handled by so many different people? Maybe they rethought their policy and just said that to the tourist.
I'm disgusted, absolutely disgusted. Absolutely love dogs, we have a 4 month old Beagle right now after losing our 13 year old Beagle a few years ago. This is just terrible and I'm glad they got the punishment they got. So sad but I'm glad the puppy is ok.
Of all the things you might think of to do, THAT has to be one of the stupidest things I have ever heard. 10k fine? Well, that's probably half-the-cost of the puppy, should have been 25k at least. Lifetime ban, having to fly home, banned for cruising and Alaska for life, okay. But why not keel-haul them. That's really big punishment on a cruise ship due to the size (yes, I'm kidding...mostly). We have a 5 month old Sheltie pup, I can't imagine trying to keep him quiet when he was little, we drove between Houston and Springfield Missouri to get him and then back, 2 nights up and 2 nights back in hotels. He was a bit whiney at 8 weeks, that pup was probably smaller. She got off lucky that she wasn't in jail for a while for it as well. I really want to do an Alaska cruise before we can't. My grandparents were some of the teachers in Alaska in the 1930s, they were between Ketchikan and King Island (summers only). I want to see the island, you can't go there now but can see it from the water. The homes and such are still there, on huge stilts but are crumbling and it's off limits even to the fisherman who have had heritage fishing there forever. Someday, hopefully, we can do it (I can't really fly, we're larger so...)
It's about time this epidemic of bad behavior has consequences. I'm not the only one exhausted by reading of the outrageous behaviour of tourists around the world. Incivility.
What an idiot. I would hope I wasn’t with that person. I told someone he couldn’t take coconuts back with him. He didn’t believe me. There are rules for everyone. We couldn’t have puppies onboard because they were too young. We had full grown dogs.

The culprit is lucky not to receive a prison sentence. Thank you for the video!
That needs to be added #jailtime

A criminal charge should be brought against this person.
Wow! I am flabbergasted. I can't imagine stealing from an excursion, but it's despicable. And, to take a living creature... sometimes people really disappoint

They won’t be stepping back on a ship, ever again.
Happy Sunday guys!
Great video ❤❤❤❤
That’s crazy!
Wow, I can't imagine that jail time wasn't discussed with this (thankfully) ex-cruiser. A mental evaluation should be required.

I was in Girdwood two summers ago (not a Cruise) and the sled dogs I met were absolutely amazing. This makes me angry. Thank you for the story!
It makes us angry too! Glad you got to
Experience this!
Thank you for sharing this story. I had not heard of it. I do not think the punishment was severe enough.
Just posted a video about this and put yours as the first link in the description. Thanks for sharing this crazy story.
Thanks for the credit! ❤️

I could not find this on the internet. They must be keeping it quiet. Crazy, if true. I mean they seriously didn’t think this through. Wow

Just got back from Juneau went Dog sledding it was fun
Love you two cuties! ❤
They should be forced by law to return the poppy, and be taken out of the cruise and make them fly by themselves. 😡
Horrible!! Glad they are banned! Now we all will pay the consequences for their actions! Unbelievable!
We were on one of these excursions a few weeks ago and we were able to pet the puppies. I know they were keeping an eye on everyone that were holding them so they were all returned. You are right that fine is way to small for what they did.
Given the lifetime value of a sled dog, a felony case of theft could have been made. The thief should have been arrested and charged.

For a puppy. What stupid and ridiculous behaviour. They should have also been thrown n jail for theft.
Just when you thought that you heard everything
I am speechless! 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
My friend had their dog stolen by the babysitter. Blamed the child, and sold the puppy.
WHAT?!?!?! I was not expecting this! Wtf
Poor puppy!
To me this amounts to animal cruelty. The puppy must have been terrified. Surprised she didn't get jail time.

Hello from Iceland!!!!
We hope you are enjoying Iceland and having a wonderful cruise!
We heard this exact story from a dog sledding company in Juneau. They claim it happened at their camp. Now I’m wondering if it’s a cruising urban legend.
That is horrible and disgusting
All I can say my jaw dropped!

Oh my… can you just imagine the security person’s face?!?
Some people are whackadoodles and should not be allowed to cruise. They should have been arrested for stealing a puppy!

There are no words - that person was NOT thinking clearly at all. And kudos for having the individual blacklisted.
Shame on them! I didn't know there was a 'no cruiser ' list 👍..
Tried to verify this story and can't find anything. Is it possible that the dog company just said that because it is very stressful for pups to be handled by so many different people? Maybe they rethought their policy and just said that to the tourist.
She got what she deserved. My Wife and I were on an Alaska cruise in Feb. An amazing experience.
We are booked for another in Sept 2024
She absolutely got what she deserved! Glad you had a wonderful cruise.
Are there Alaska cruises in February?
@@MidLifeStyleTwinsno it starts in May and ends in October.
The Alaska cruise season is from May to September
I really would to love to know what they were thinking....had to be Carnival!

They should have spent the remainder of the cruise in the brig.
Some people feel entitled to whatever they want, it is good to call out and ridicule this type of behavior.
They got their just punishment. I'm surprised they weren't put in jail.
I hope the puppy is ok.
Why weren't they arrested for theft?
Can’t find any news on this. Possible urban legend? Which cruise line, date, passenger name?
What an idiot. I would hope I wasn’t with that person. I told someone he couldn’t take coconuts back with him. He didn’t believe me. There are rules for everyone. We couldn’t have puppies onboard because they were too young. We had full grown dogs.
Omg!!! Why?? I agree. They got what they deserved. That’s so sad.
I am doing that excursion in 2 weeks. Thanks lady, I was looking forward to playing with the puppies. She should be in an Alaska jail.
It boggles my mind how this person thought they could get this back through security on the ship. SMH.
