Stellar video my brother! It definitely sounds like y'all planned out an EPIC backpacking trip here... hitting some of the most beautiful areas in all of the Sawtooths. And Alpine Lake is certainly a gorgeous spot for your first night man! Totally looking forward to the rest of this series!
P.S. Dude, that is waaaay cool that you were recognized out there!

Thank you John! Some of the most fun I have with these trips is creating a route that isn't advertised on the internet or there is no information on it. I'm sure someone has done this, but that was the case with this one! Alpine lake was awesome. I went there a couple of years back and just stopped in on the way up to Sawtooth. It was great being able to actually stay and enjoy the lake. And yes! I'm sure you're familiar with that happening! It was surprising to say the least, but really cool. Have you been able to get out on any good trips this summer?

@@DannyJSchaefer You're more than welcome Dan! I couldn't agree more... some of the absolute best times that I've had myself have been off the beaten path (as it were). I'm super stoked for you that you got to stay and enjoy the lake... she's a beauty for sure! Yeah, it is definitely surprising (and very humbling) when that has happened man. I have been able to get out on a couple of good trips so far (thanks for asking). Spent a couple of weeks over in eastern Idaho exploring some new country, a week or so in the River of No Return Wilderness (epic man!), and a few shorter trips that were pretty awesome too. Getting set to head up to the Sawtooths in September for another longer trip. Love those mountains! Anyhow, have an awesome weekend brother!

Oh wow! That is so awesome you were recognized!!! What are the odds of you and one of your viewers being in the same exact location at the same exact time!!! That is a true sign your following is growing day by day!!! That is also proof that you do an outstanding job on your videos, otherwise so many people would not be watching them. You have to promise not to go all Hollywood on us when you make it to the big time!!! 😊
Do you happen to know how much your pack weighed? I am going to take a wild guess and say 50 lbs. It looked pretty heavy when you put it on at the car.
Those walk by shots looked great. My Mom felt bad that you had to walk back to get the camera with the heavy backpack on.
Love the hatchet in the tree at the 4:27 mark.
That trail path after you passed the signpost when you were taking your rain gear off looked amazing. The forest was so dense and the mountain in the background looked so cool.
The walk by shot with the mountains in the background right after looked incredible as well. It looked like the camera was 20 feet away, at least. It is amazing how you can find those shots. It looks like you bring a professional camera crew with you!!!
Ohhh, love the shot of the overlook into the valley below with the sky in the background. I didn’t realize how high up you were until I saw the tips of the trees below. What a great view!!!
The trail up to the lake was gorgeous. Was there a waterfall near the lake? I heard, what I thought was running water or was that just the lake. It sounded pretty loud, but I could have been hearing things. Alpine lake is so beautiful. I never get tired of looking at those.
Josh had an awesome tent. It looked like a high rise compared to the rest. 😊 That was a great campsite.
You looked pretty beat after you finished setting up your tent. I bet it felt good to be done for the night.
You covered a lot of ground in a short period of time. Any idea of what the elevation was at that point? Those mosquitoes looked huge!!! That part didn’t look like fun!!!
That shot of you filling up your water bladder with the sun hitting the snow-covered mountain tops and the blue sky in the background was awesome!!!
Was that the location of the meal review you did a few days ago?
Did the mosquitoes die down at night or were you just so beat you slept through them? Hehehehe!
We can’t wait for part 2 and to see Sawtooth Lake!!!

Thank you friend!! It was so unexpected I think I was more surprised than everyone there 😂 It's not something you expect to happen I can tell you that. I promise to not go all Hollywood if that ever happens! Haha
You were pretty darn close to guessing the pack weight. If you count everything I had me including my chest pack for my sidearm it was right around 46 lbs. Seven days of food weighs about ten lbs or so, and so by the end of the trip I felt like I was gliding on the trail.. well, kind of.. Minus the blisters and sore knees.
No need to feel bad.. walking back to the camera is all part of the fun!
Yeah the hatchet was kind of random, but I thought it would make a cool shot! I'm not sure why it was there.
Yeah! After we took the rain coats off the views just became better and better! The mountains made for some epic backdrops! It can definitely be a bit of a pain getting those shots but most of them come out pretty nice. Thanks for comment on the view of the valley below! Even I didn't realize how high we were getting.
There was a waterfall near the lake! However, I don't remember seeing it on the trail but I do believe it was close by.
Yes Josh's tent is huge! It's a four person and four season alpine condominium. It's great when there's large campsites, but sometimes difficult to find the perfect spot in smaller spots. He uses a half insert in the tent to sleep in, and then the other half is open space which he can sit fully upright in and relax. It's pretty awesome.
I was reeeeeally tired I'm not going to lie 😂 I was holding it together pretty well, but was ready to call it a night.. and that's why I was in bed when there was still daylight out.
You betcha! The elevation of this 'Alpine Lake' is around 7,800'. There's actually another lake named Alpine lake near Baron Lakes that we kind of passed by later in the series. They got really creative with their lake names there!
That shot was awesome! Other than half of my body being cut off. Haha I suppose they can't all be major winners.
And nope! I did that meal review (and another coming soon) at Alice Lake on the last day there.
I don't know if the mosquitos ever really died down or not, but they definitely bug me in the tent! Thank the lord for mesh netting so the little pests can't enter.
Can't wait to show the new video! I'm about to start editing it up as we speak! Thanks again for the constant support and for watching EVERY video. It means the world! Hello to you and your mom as well!
      Cheers!!!!
      Danny

@@DannyJSchaefer Hehehehehe, glad to hear!!! 😊 There is no doubt your channel(s) will explode. It is nice to know we will still have the same old Danny!
Wow, that is a lot of weight. Not too bad when you consider it is everything you need to live for a week, but 46 pounds is 46 pounds. On a 55-mile trail, that had to be tough. Ahh, yes, I can imagine losing 10 pounds felt great!!! The blisters and the pain, not so much!!!
The hatchet was definitely a “conversation” piece. 😊
No kidding on those epic backdrops!!! It seems like you had one in every shot!!!
      Ah, I thought I heard a waterfall!
We thought you did a great job pushing through, especially that first day after getting up so early. Yikes, that was a long day WITHOUT all the travel and the 4-mile hike. Super yikes!!!
Wow, that was pretty high up there. I love those Alpine Lakes. Big chuckles on the lake names! I saw a lake called Fish Lake, the person that named that lake must have run out of names and had zero creative juice left.
Ah, I will keep an eye out for Alice Lake. That looked amazing when I saw it in the first video. I can’t wait to see more of it.
Oh, that is rough. Yes, thank God for mosquito netting for sure!!!
We can’t wait either!!! You are very welcome!!! Mom says hi back!!!!
      Stay safe and be well!!!

Im planning a trip next year and would love to do this 55 mile hike. Is there a website that explains start to finish? maybe on Alltrails? Also, did you and tess break up? i havent seen her in your latest few videos.

      @DannyJSchaefer  2 года назад

Dude that would be awesome! I actually created this through hike and came up with it so I’m not sure if it’s on AllTrails etc.. I’m sure somebody has done it before, but I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have about and share my tracks etc. Oh and nope! We’re still together. Her work schedule has been pretty crazy so we haven’t been able to get a hike or a backpack trip in together yet. She was in a video a few weeks ago though where we paddle boarded to PeeWee Falls in Washington State! Thanks for watching the videos man. Again, feel free to hit me up with questions or shoot me an email.
