Haven't frozen a whole mango before. Maybe if you are careful, let it thaw for a minute or two, and have a sharp knife? Not sure. Let us know how that works out for you.
I’m so jealous of your mango stash- i’m indian and we love mangoes- its our national fruit- i love them so much i named my cat mango- he’s in the thumbnail 🤣- its not summertime until you’ve eaten fresh cut mango 🥭🥭-
This has been a particularly great year for mangoes in central Florida. And since you haven't tried a mango before, perhaps you want to wait to try a mango til you can get your hands on a tree-ripe one. Comparatively speaking, grocery store fresh or frozen mango are a disappointment. Hey, this can be your excuse for making travel plans to a tropical place during mango season!
One of the best things about south Florida is mangoes. We had so many trees I made wine with them. You can also cut the mango in half and use a small knife to surgically remove the seed and then eat the mango halves with a spoon. I miss the smell of mangoes in the house during summer.
CG here: You had me at mango wine! I didn't realize you could grow a great mango in central Florida. This year seems to be especially bountiful for several varieties. In fact one guy noted that he was tired of the smell. BLASPHEMY!!
I have had plenty of opportunities to experiment with mango-cutting since CG is a mango addict! And there are some fancy-pants stores that sell it pre-cut. Thanks for watching!
Awesome video, Chef!! Always wanted to know the art of perfect cutting of mangoes. I love all mango recipes but this smoothie looks particularly tasty!! Thank you for sharing this with us :) Have a great weekend!!
@@ChefBuckRecipes My pleasure, Chef! Everything you do is so perfect that it definitely looks like an art. Besides the fact that, now a chef's work is called "Culinary Arts" all over the place. There are some BSc. (Bachelor's degree in Science) for culinary arts too, so, what you do is both art and science :) Thank you for your kind comment :D
That was so fun! You both seem like super fun, sweet and positive people. I would have watched that even without needing some mango knowledge! Thanks for all the excellent info and the fun video!
Right? We don't add much when we have ripe, sweet mangoes. Otherwise, we like to experiment adding honey, lemon zest, frozen banana, pineapple.... Got any secret ingredients you like to add?
@@ChefBuckRecipes I usually use cinnamon, but I'll try substituting that for cardamon next time! Also, if it needs to be sweetened (which it ideally doesn't, with the right variety and ripeness of mango), I tend to use some brown (muscovado) sugar. Crushed ice can also help thinning it a bit.
Thanks for the suggestions. Although her go-to sweetener for mango shakes is honey, CG was wondering what else to try. And we definitely enjoy cinnamon so we'll have to try that.
@@ChefBuckRecipes my wife loves gnawing off bones (and often gets mine too, as I have a bad experience with chipping off a tooth from it), so I bet she wouldn't mind gnawing off mango pits either. ;)
South Florida was the first tree-ripe mango CG had, and she loved it. Don't know if either of us have had one while in California. Thanks for watching.
It's always sooooo much better to have a tree-ripened fruit.....peach, nectarine, pineapple, banana, avocado. CG likes to factor in fruit season when we pick travel destinations.
You all are sweet and funny! OH MYYYY! So I blended mango with the skin and thought I could take the skin out as I have seen with a coconut. Let's just say I was not able to...so my question is:; can you eat mango skin?
@@ChefBuckRecipes wish I had a mango tree, but wont grow in North Mississippi. Will buy some on my next trip to town and some yogurt too. Thanks for recipe from your lovely wife!
Please excuse me if it were mentioned earlier in the video, where do you guys live? I'm wondering because of the mango trees. Did yall plant them or are they indigenous??
dont throw away the mango skin as its high in fiber and vitamins... i blend the skin/mango along with Banana skin/bananas with cocount milk and mixed nuts.... yummy and high in proteins... have fun!
It's amazing how many mango varieties there are. We've had some great, small mangoes. And there is always the frozen kind to try - the great nutrients are frozen in too.
Is there a fruit better than a tree-ripe mango? CG and I are happily up-to-our-elbows in mangoes. Hope everyone has a great weekend.
Let us know if you can find a sweet mango, and if you enjoy the lassi. Thanks for watching.
Chef Buck I froze my mango whole. I'm wondering now after watching this video, if I will get the same results by not peeling and slicing it first?

Can I have some mango i live in spring Texas

Your blessed to be able to get all the mango you want, I have to get mine from a store. Great tips on cutting a mango!
Even with a store-bought mango you can have a great shake. You can just channel the mad-recipe-scientist in you! Thanks for the comment
Love mangoes, but I can never cut them.
I mangle mangoes.
I will never be able to do that.I am so jealous of your mango trees, but not of the fleas
Where are you that these mangoes are so abundant? I know you are not in Indiana!! I have never eaten a mango in my 70+ years, but I may try one now!

I planted a mango seed and its growing leaves! Thanls for sharing guys. I'll try this in about 15-20 years when my tree gives us fruit. 😜
let us know how it turns out :^)

Chef buck and CG, one of the last great channels around. Thanks guys.
Thanks Chef Buck. I’ve wasted many mangoes over the years because I didn’t know how to properly cut. 😔 But now I do!! Thank you!!
Great video uncle Buck! Thanks for dropping the knowledge!
"Oh lord.. the noises..." love you CG

I love this channel,so far, so good. I like the dynamic dual and combination of personalities of this show.
I looooove mango lassi. 😊

Great tips ,thank you . Awesome video ! Where did they conform, wow ! Mango lassi, spuds delicious. !
Loved this video!! I live in Orlando and recently visited miami and picked a mango!
Hope it was a sweet variety you picked. Did you join the ranks of the rabid mango lovers?
This looks so good I love mango smoothies but this I have to try thanks for sharing where are you guys
We're visiting family in central Florida, where they are having an especially great mango season. thanks for watching
Droooool. Love your videos!!
I'm assuming Florida..about to make this smoothie right now..thank you guys
Yep, central Florida. Hope your smoothie worked! Thanks for watching
Or use a spoon to scrape the remaining flesh from the skin and/or pit/endocarp (the seed is actually inside the pit). :)
You're right, a spoon would help get the rest off the skin. But you have to admit, its more satisfying to eat mango chunks.
@@ChefBuckRecipes it is, though I'm not fond of the feeling of my teeth hitting the pit while getting the last bits of pulp off it ;)
She wouldn't like me to tell this, but CG loves to stand over the sink gnawing the pit

Fantastic Video
Yummm! I can't wait to try it ♡
Great! Let us know what you think, and what kind of mango you use.
How awesome! Thanks for showing me how to identify and slice a ripe mango. Oh. I thought a latte included coffee. Am I wrong?
Cg in a cap- irresistible
I love your attitude dude! It’s awesome and you are hilarious as well!! Lol
Great info and YUM!
Curious... do you cook every meal in a different kitchen? Yous guys can come cook one in mine😃
We have been been enjoying house sitting in various places lately so you're right, you're seeing different kitchens. Thanks for watching!
I'd love a couple mango trees... That's awesome!
I think we're on the tail end of mangoes....but there is always next year
I like Mango, from South Florida, they are better than the one in California. Different taste, i love the way you slice, the Mango.
South Florida was the first tree-ripe mango CG had, and she loved it. Don't know if either of us have had one while in California. Thanks for watching.
You 2 are fun and informative, so I subscribed.
Looks like thanks for the recipe
thanks for watching
Awesome. Can you use oat milk instead of almond milk? What if the mango is a little wrinkled does that mean it’s ripe ?
You guy&gal are living the life. Keep moving in a positive direction as u r.🍹🍽🍽🍽🍽🍹
there's only two ways to go :^)
as a desi, I ACTUALLY APPROVE
Love your videos guys!💙 Only mangoes I've ever eaten taste exactly like canned peaches to me. Would be great to try a tree ripened one.

Lucky me, I eating mangos right now.

we're visiting folks in Central Florida
We need to see camera girl more.
I try to get her in front of the camera often but she wears several hats so sometimes I'm more successful than others!
I love to gnaw on a mango seed... I'm drooling thinking about it.
Do you have a papaya salad recipe..if not could you make one
I had a Asian papaya dish in Seattle that would be fun to try and duplicate. Something to consider.
@@ChefBuckRecipes thanks so much
Papaya salad is delicious! Hope you do a tutorial on this one. : )
Yum
