Great call on linking Mark Rios to Animal. It makes sense when you look at the helmets and "fossil recovery list" at the Boneyard break area and also the "New dig season begins" article. This is exactly why the land its self is my favorite attraction on Walt Disney World property. There is always something new to discover. "Not everything has to be Galaxy's Edge tpo be immersive" is a really good takeaway. Excellent video, it made me rethink this part of the park and grow an appreciation for the deep lore.

Dinoland USA has always seemed like a strange conglomeration of attractions that seem out of place in Animal Kingdom. It’s interesting to hear how imagineers tied everything together with one underlying backstory. Definitely gives me a new appreciation of the land. Great video!
This is really interesting. I haven't been to Walt Disney World, only the Disneyland Resort, but all I've ever heard about Dinoland is how cheap it is. This really makes me appreciate it, even having not seen it for myself yet.
It certainly has a cheap attraction or two but for me, they more than made up for it with its rich backstory.
This video is honestly really impressive! You put all the lore of this land together so well and I literally knew none of it! I really don't care for Dinorama at all so it would be cool if they replaced that whole area but retained the backstory of Diggs County.
As much as I LOVE the story of Dino Rama I have zero attachment to it. As evidenced from my final moments in the vlog, both Primeval Whirl and Triceratop Spin are great attractions for what they are, but I'm 100% open to whatever Imagineering would have in mind for that space and the story they would tell in the process.
@@HappyPlaceExplorers Also, did you take some creative license with some of the imagery in this video? Some of the stuff around Dr. Helen Marsh was a little too clean to be part of the original 1998 opening material! If so, I'm impressed.
We had to dig pretty deep into the 'archives' for those clips.... (;
@@HappyPlaceExplorers I would love to see more videos like this where you explore the hidden lore inside some of the lands. I never have time to look for stuff like this because I'm limited to a short vacation when I visit from Iowa and I focus on riding all the rides so I love seeing it in videos like this!

This is the GREATEST Disney info video I’ve seen!! I actually hated Dinoland when we went- especially because the kids made me spend money on games. (We came home with 5 stuffed dinosaurs) but now I can’t wait to get back and explore! ❤️

You actually half-convinced me Jordan...only problem is I was just there, and...yeah, it’s still cheesy...Nice try, though...Hey, I will go to my grave defending the qualities of the original Opening Day lineup at Disney California Adventure (and, no, even I can’t defend Superstar Limo, but I TRULY loved the Cheesiness of all of the rest of it!...We had a TRACTOR, for God’s Sake...A TRACTOR!!!), so I give you all the respect in the world for loving your own World of Cheeseball Delights!
Oh, the cheese is definitely there! But it's there on purpose...which... makes it okay... i guess.
Ah yes... good old Bountiful Valley Farm. I tell you, if I could experience any defunct attraction it would be Horizons, but Bountiful Valley Farm would be a close second.
I actually enjoyed Superstar Limo. It was a simple but fun wax museum like look at many of the stars I loved at the time which fit right in with the California theme. However, I think what killed the ride for most people was the really creepy agent guy on the limo's TV. My friends and I always covered that screen, so maybe that's why we enjoyed it... though Monster Inc is far better.
This video makes me realise just how much I missed at Dinoland when I was there!

I read some comments saying people hate DinoLand, but I'm the polar opposite to say the least. DinoLand is my favorite Disney Park land of all. If not for it, I probably never would have wanted to go to WDW. I especially like the new dinosaur prizes. If I were to change any of it, though, I'd make the Triceratops in TriceratopSpin different colors (i.e. one blue, one yellow, etc.)
I already had this stance on Dinoland ( I adore it), but this was an excellent video. I'm sharing it with friends in hopes that they can understand my opinion. You pointed out some details that I didn't know, though, which was fantastic! Thanks! This was the first video of yours I watched, but I will be checking more out now.

I had no idea of the back story on Dino land and I've been so many times. I believe the biggest perk of being a pass holder and living right by the parks is you can actually slow down and take in all the special touches. As a family we are in a hurry to ride our favorite rides in just the few days we have. I do love the Dinosaur ride "We're not going to make it......." 😁 Another great video, Jordan 😎😎 Next time I'll slow down and appreciate Dino land USA
You're right. It's true that a lot of these details I uncovered were by really searching for them. I think a lot of us always skip through Dino-Rama and the rest just to get to Dinosaur, and we notice its different from the rest of the area but we don't really process it. It wasn't until my umpteenth time walking through the roadside gift shop I started thinking... 'Why is this here?'. It seemed so out of place and yet it wasn't there by accident. I think at Disney, even in as something as simple as a gift shop or a restaurant, if you look for a story you're going to find one.

Hey Jordan. Nice work and research on this. And while I agree that the backstory is well done and the execution of the area is immersive, I'm still not sure it's the right theme for a Disney theme park.
It's probably not the story Imagineers would have chosen to tell either, but I have to applaud the effort to make its low-cost shortcomings, even somewhat cohesive within its park, and especially land.
I don't really know what would work best in that area. As each land of Animal Kingdom kind of serve as an homage to different parts of the world, Asia, Africa, Pandora (out of this world), and Dinoland, the cheeky tribute to USA.. I don't think Indiana Jones fills that blank, I'm not even sure Zootopia fits that blank.

My major issue Dinoland USA is that though these touches are EXTREMELY cool but they are so well hidden that even somebody like me who has been to DW 30+ times hasnt noticed that story... I think it's cool, but I still cannot get that bitter taste out of my mouth of what that section of the park had the potential to be. I think if the story was told a little better and the land was better executed then I wouldn't feel as disappointed with the kitschiness of it.
Now if you want some Deep Dive theming, S.E.A. is one of my favorites and spans across all of the Disney parks in some way.
Yeah, you're not wrong. I think the touches are not really hidden as much as they are just... there. They never really call attention to themselves because that would in most cases be unrealistic and Imagineers as the storytellers don't want to sacrifice that unrealism. Even in a land with two dinosaurs seeking time machine rides...
I think that's the fun part for us as visitors is that we can see a seemingly random picture hanging on a wall and think nothing of it. BUT we always need to remember that everything at Disney is placed there with intention. So it's about changing our mindset in the parks... if we see something like a light fixture, bulletin board, a crack in the asphalt or anything ... we have to consider 'why is that there?' and the story will naturally unfold for us. But yeah, I totally get your point.
