I've just been loned a GQ 35L for a trial, I'm looking at thermals to help deal with trouble foxes that are to light shy to get within range of. But I have problems with the brightness of the device, even on lowest light settings, I get massive eye strain and feel the pressure behind my eye well into the next day, and that's after only a couple hours of use. My question is, are there updates to lower the light level further, or blue light filters maybe. Love the videos mate, keep them coming.

To my knowledge the software is relatively new. May try using one of the different pallets so the image isn’t as bright. Such as white hot.

Hi Robin.. do you know when the new 50mm one will be coming out in the UK. And will you be doing a full review soon on the one you have.. Would like to see foxes out at a 100 plus yards with it... Cheers

The foxes in this video were 130 yards away. You can clearly see them and way beyond. But yes I will at some point do a proper review

How do you rate the GQ35L? I'm in the market for a thermal lrf, still got a helion & like Pulsar but I've been underwhelmed by the relatively few videos of the new, much heralded XQ35. Also looking at the iray fh35r, but can get a Gryphon GQ35L at a very good price..... I know the optical/fusion system is poor & not bothered about that, I just want a good image & reliable, accurate lrf.

The fusion works a lot better with an extra IR but your right. Not much use to me either.
I genuinely really rate the GQ35L. In fact I’d you watch tonight’s video at 4pm. You’ll see me using it to great effect ratting. Plus I’m the next foxing video I’ll have some distance footage from it that Rick filmed as I took the shot through the rifle.

Hi Robin, sorry for the late response.
I bit the bullet last Saturday & purchased the GQ35L. Very good image in Black hot in particular, especially in recognition mode. It came with the latest update, but I've found the LRF really needs to be initiated by zapping a close target otherwise it won't read at distance. I still haven't found out how to manually refresh the image, but, after a while the automatic refresh becomes far less frequent..... When first starting up the unit it will refresh the image with annoying frequency. Still need to play with the settings, but out foxing last night really impressed me with its image in Black hot on brightness level 4.
Keep the vids coming, always look forward to them.
      Cheers
      Mike

Hi there when I press "Device Upgrade" it tells me that "No new version, maybe the firmware version is too old. Go to our official website for upgrade info" I have been to the website but can't find anything. Any idea on how to solve this problem?
    Cheers

It depends on the speed of your internet connection. But the initial bit took a good 10 mins on mine.
