    Thanks for the review. Looks like a great kit - my one and only Italeri kit to date is now my paint testing mule but if they are upping their game like this are definitely worth another look.
    I’m looking forward to your next build video. All the best. Martin

    As a retired toolmaker I have always had respect for Italian engineering, they made some very good machine tools,so there is no reason why they shouldn’t make good mould tools!😊

    I can't believe it's taken so long for a major kit manufacturer to release a 1/32 scale WW2 Italian aircraft.

      I know, seriously underrepresented. At least Italeri have finally given us this kit, hopefully we see a 205 Veltro in the near future 🤞

    Great kit by the first looks at it, but strange indeed the wheels need to go on in step 9 already. Thanks for the review, subbed ✨👍✨

    • @spruehunter
      @spruehunter  Год назад +1

      Thanks Dave, yes strange indeed. There are a few oddities with this kit, I'm currently working my way round the issue, hopefully I can find a solution to add it later in the build, the actuators for the undercarriage bolt to the firewall which is a new one to me so I can see why Italeri have you install it so early on as it's probably easier from a point of building but not when it comes to paint, especially if you prefer to airbrush your parts separately. I'm up to installing the wheel-well/firewall bulkhead and already found some issues in just assembling the engine, nothing major just odd. Anyway I'll hopefully get the thing together so the next issue will be the paint colours... thanks for your comment and sub 👍👍

    Thanx much for the comprehensive review. I have always wondered if it was going to take an Italian manufacturer to do justice to the MC.202 in 1/32, and it now appears that's the case. PCM made a noble effort--Craftworks less so--but, neither with Italeri's amount and level of detail. That Italeri did this without resin is noteworthy. I would have liked more rivet detail, and masks; those are minor points. The important features that needed to be handled by the manufacturer all appear to have been expertly handled. How convincing are those exhausts!
    So looking forward to building this one!
    BTW, the part with the differing location per version is the instrumentation venturi "horn".

    • @spruehunter

      Agree with you completely, mask set and fabric belts and I'd be over the moon, still a very nice kit nonetheless and thanks for the info on the ventui horn 😁👍

    Excellent review. This certainly appears to be a fine product.
    Back in the day, the only 1/32nd MC202 was ID's vacform. Ughh! This is a revelation by comparison and most welcome.
    For all those engine lovers out there? Yay, ya got one! Happy? Jolly good.😂
    There'll be those now, of course, complaining that they can't close the cowls neatly.🤦‍♂️
    Be happy. This is an excellent product that's been very well reviewed.
    Looking forward to a future build.👍

    Thanks for the review, very thorough.
    Main reason I may pick this one up though is the actual aircraft is a stunner.
    I enjoy buying them, enjoy building them, but if you are going to spend time looking at them it has to do more with how interesting the end result is rather than how much work you've put into it in my experience.
    Some themes are inherently boring, some are inherently visually stimulating😊

    Egyptian Air Force had Italian Macchi fighters in 1948-49

    • @spruehunter

      They did, I think Hasegawa used to have a boxing of their kit in Egyptian markings. Maybe the aftermarket companies will give you decals sheets to do these aircraft.

    Hello Mr sprue hunter. Just found your channel and am loving your videos. Just getting back into Ww2 kits myself after 25 year hiatus. Just wondering if you have a preferred brand. I've heard great things about HK and I've always found tamiya to be good quality. Would be interested I'm your opinion on the brands

    • @spruehunter
      @spruehunter  8 месяцев назад

      Hi Jason, I suppose it depends on what subject I'm looking to build 🤔
      For WW2 fighters in 48 scale you can't beat Eduard for spitfires, 109's, FW 190's, Zeros, Mustangs etc. their Profipacks come with a mask set and photoetch (if that's your thing?) and usually more marking options. As you say Tamiya is always good apart from the 1/48 Sea Harrier, avoid it if you can! HK seem to be getting better and better with each release, I would also look at Hasegawa too. Most of their kits are older tooling but most are still best in scale and a relatively straightforward build. Best thing I can recommend is Scalemates.com, it's a database for all the history of model kits, good to check to see if the latest offering from Revell is indeed a new tool or a rebox from the 1970's!
      The main thing is to keep it so you're enjoying modelling, welcome back to the hobby, hope that helps and glad you're enjoying the channel. 😁👍

    Will you be doing a build of this model?, I managed to get this kit a bit cheaper direct from Italy.

    • @spruehunter
      @spruehunter  11 месяцев назад

      I've got it built and ready for paint, few things to watch out for along the way but once it's together it's a nice kit, watch your parts clean up and test for before committing to glue. Don't bother with the larger of the two pieces of tubing that comes provided its oversized, 3D decals are good, wheel wells bad. There's a very good article online going into all the things to correct accuracy-wise if that's your thing. Next issue will be choosing which colours/brand for the Italian camo, so far an interesting build.
      Glad you made a saving as I'm not sure I'd pay full retail knowing what I do now, luckily I got a good deal so I'm happy but wouldn't recommend it to others at the RRP. 👍

    I love WWII Italian aircraft and this looks really good. Problem is I’ve just bought the Arma 1/48 Hurricane which in light of your Macci review is another level in a smaller scale.
    I’m in two minds whether to buy it but the extras are excellent. Many thanks for the great in depth review.

      No worries, glad you liked it. I've yet to add an arma hobby hurricane to the stash, waiting for the tank buster to come out. Both kits look stunning in their respective scales.

    As soon as u said not rivet detail on the fuselage, that ruined the kit for me . With computer programming now a days that plastic should have all the details. Look at tamiya's 1/32 corsair , amazing detail. Yes i know u will say thats a $100 dollar kit

    • @spruehunter
      @spruehunter  6 месяцев назад

      I agree Chris, it's a bit of a disappointment. I was hoping like yourself that it would be more rivet detail but I've been disappointed with the new tooled Zoukei Mura 1/32 bf109 & fw190 both lacking the surface detail that say Eduard are known for. I'm more interested in the exterior surface detail that a kit that has that many internal details that once built will never be seen... Each to their own I guess. I did think about re-riviting it myself but I didn't want to add all that extra work when it took a bit of fettling to get the Macci together, definitely a kit that you have to constantly test fit and check seams etc.
      Nice when built, I've got mine into primer and planning on painting it once the weather warms up. It's a nice kit but not worth the retail price in my opinion, considering I didn't use the larger tubing that comes for the engine pipework and the wire for the antenna I'll use aftermarket rigging line. Plus I'll probably attempt to airbrush the "smoke ring" cammo so even the decals are no use to me... Like I say if you can find one for a reasonable price I'd get one as it's still a nice looking model despite its flaws.
      All the best
      SH
