A factor i think that was missed was age. In some cases, the age of a piece can almost negate the edition size if its desirable enough. My small Slave Leia Animated statue has an edition size of 2550 and retailed for 150 and now sells for (on average) 500. While this piece is not hard to find, she is over 10 years old now and no licensed manufacturer makes that version of that character anymore, which also factors into the value. Also does the statue age well. At one point in time the original Sideshow Psylocke (which is also over 10 years old) was reselling for around 1k. But has now dropped to around 500 because it's not as "beautiful" when compared to the more recently produced statues of the same character. Thanks for the video.
I have also found that depending on the sculptor it also adds to the perceived value. Daniel bell is a name that keeps coming up or jason fabok. Some RUclipsrs make a big deal out of a particular sculptor and how amazing they are, which may be true, but just because they did an amazing job on 1 piece does not necessarily mean all their statues are grails.
Not bad! I had a collection of over 200 pices, started buying in the early 90's. Things took a downturn and had to sell out to some guy in France. Now I am considering rebuilding my collection. The prices have gotten crazy but the quality of sculpt/paint is sweet. Had a ton of Bowen, nice guy. Love your stuff, guy! Turning green with envy! Lol,
OMG that size graphic🤣🤣Influencer impact is something I'm mindful of, it has caused me to stop watching some channels because their content started to feel like an ad. I can honestly say I do not often think about the value (monetary) of my collection. What I buy I keep for the most part or give away to family & friends. My collection is full of nostalgia from childhood and characters that I just love. With that in mind, I do think the way one displays their collection can add or takeaway from its value. I think a great example of that is the way museum design and curate their collections.
Great video on statue values, I'm glad I got out when I did, I don't think I'd spend this kind of money on them now, way to expensive for me. I'll just admire yours. Lol
..what's with all the different video filter FX? 0:14 filter looks interesting, even if it washes out most of the coor from the statues in the background.
Great points, but one thing I’ve noticed in highly anticipated pieces is scalping. While not widespread, I’ve lost out on a few only to see them immediately flipped for double or triple on the secondary market.
Agreed to all of it. Add edition size as well. Smaller runs of a combined of what you talked about will help raise that price. Smaller runs of hyped and popular pieces will allow for higher re sell price !!
Agreed with popularity / timing statement. I bought my f4f Lowwtwing on a sort ebay here in Holland for 350 buccks some 5 years ago, I sold it for 1000,- some 6 months ago when the remake came out for the Switch...popularity / attention to the game raised, and therefore the interest in the statue (which is horrible to display due to the wingspan...like you said, I live in the Netherlands, housing is very expensive and I just do not have the room for such statues)
Yeah. Pop culture is definitely relevant in statue sales and the value. There were times I couldn’t sell a statue until a movie of that character came out. Then it became a lot easier.
completely agree with this list, I have also seen some statues become popular way after they came out just because of influencers or comics. If i were to add anything from what I've seen it would be weather they made a exclusive like with sideshow statues, those will sell for more then the standard statue.
You've covered it all pretty much, although perhaps minor things are low numbering (e.g. first ten or Artist's Proof), whether it has the art box and shipper, and if it's a throne. Perhaps age too.
Would the quality of repairing a break change the value of the statue? I know most of your repairs you can’t see without a magnify glass and if you pointed it out, but some breaks might still be noticeable even after repair.
Shipping is for sure up there, got my email last week saying doom slayer will ship out may20th, adjusted shipping is $1499.99 US to canada, cancelled the order, as i wanted the standard version 1800US as prefer the shotgun look anyways, but i would be $3300US then conversion, and duty on over 4000 canadian, i would be like 5000 total and would never get my money back or close to. so will pre-order from comic-concepts owner was nice and answered everything when I spoke with him and he will charge me shipping just from California to Ontario. it will be 6-8 month before I was to get it but i will save a fair amount. so way better option i dont think i will want to order from prime1 directly since there raised shipping prices lately lol Maybe if they go back to normal lol
The blurred borders of the camera lens and the high contrast made me think I was going to have my fortune told for a second. Also, do you have a tutorial on how to make a statue LESS valuable? doesn't have to be permanent as I plan to use this knowledge to make statues I like affordable enough for me to pick it up then it can go back to being expensive again after I've bought it.
I'm going to guess, keep it as clean as possible, including the factory packaging. -ope the list was different than what I was expecting, I like that the list is what your categories are, it makes complete sense.
Very good information I agree people who like venom would like to have a venom statue or the new Batman what ever is hot at the time you get all caught up then later no one wants it and like said shipping cost is ridiculous and would be hard to get back love this channel no other person doing this is as entertaining or good as you are
Yeah iv always wanted the sideshow punisher but I also don't want to pay like 1,500 for a piece that originally was like 500$,now if it was a 1/3 scale I really wouldn't have a problem spending 1,500$
The sex appeal based statues are always flipping the double after they sell out... Like Slan, Dejah Thoris and Aspen.. Perhaps the super high price with custom duty and shipping, makes the collector Super Selective for the statue
None of the criteria outlined makes a blind bit of difference to the sale value, the only factor that matters is what a punter is prepared to pay. Evidenced by items that never sell because of delusional valuations. When one attends a live auction, the sale price, if unreserved, will be governed by market forces and not by slapping an unrealistic price tag on an item just because the seller thinks It's a rarity!
Lol. U got these jokes bruh.... it works though, keep up the great content. I been following u bow for a whole and ur content is definitely going to continue gaining subs. Lol heck i still remember wen u were at like 10k subs. U do have a point that wen people comment and say a statue sucks. That plays into the value unfortunately. Lol which doesnt make sense because art is subjective...
Regardless of whatever value people try to put on a statue. The final decision of what it's really worth is on the Pearson making the purchase. I am looking for a Sideshow 1/4 scale Sabertooth statue that has sold out. There is someone selling one on Ebay for over $2000. So no matter how much I would like to have this statue. There is no way in hell that that statue is worth that much. So the hunt continues and eather I find one for a reasonable price or I'll just do without. So go ahead and put whatever price on whatever statue. It is always up to the buyer if the value is worth the price or not.
A other good insight piece although you sound a little jet lagged. I’ve been inquiring more on pieces and I feel like the shipping is going to start killing a lot of us in the US where some of the great pieces are not available.
Okay I’ll admit it I roll my eye when another Batman is released… but I understand it if it sells make it. I agree 100% if I see another Wolverine I’m losing my shit. 😊
You're right about influencers, I bought my first custom from the Todd, I was pumped about it and saw you had a reveiw! You hated it so I threw it in the garbage, now I hate it too! (I'm kidding, I still love it)
It's really similar to comic books collecting as an example I had the first appearance of carnage that comic book Skyrocket in price for the hyper the movie then when it was done it got destroyed in price I think statues are pretty much the same maybe a few differences here and there 😀
When hiring a professional to paint or repaint your statue, how much he or she charges is another factor and if you have artist or celebrity autograph your statue to increase value. Still have to pay shipping if by delivery. Cheers 🍻👊🏼
Meh, in the old days, when we had to increase the price of a statue, we'd buy 5 of them, and then smash 4 of them on camera... THANOS has got sh*t on me...
I never customed statues, but i would do custom figures, and they would usually sell for double original listing price.I would get,hey I'm a non smoker and some guy who bought a only a 5 dollar item turned me in a ruined my feedback so all the people would ask is it gonna smell like smoke.Like no I sold 150 dollar figs to non smokers who had no complaints, guy who buys 5 dollar figure,he wants refund and bad feedback.I don't make customs anymore but for myself.
A factor i think that was missed was age. In some cases, the age of a piece can almost negate the edition size if its desirable enough. This is a great guide for people just getting into the hobby. Whether it's buying or selling, once again a fantastic topic
I have also found that depending on the sculptor it also adds to the perceived value. Daniel bell is a name that keeps coming up or jason fabok. Channels growing slowly but surly, keep it up bro!
Great information for a newb collector such as myself! Helps putting asking prices in perspective. Thanks! :D
Good bit of knowledge for me to go forward on. Appreciate you man
Great content as always Mr. X!
Love these informative videos. Thanks!
Love it, hilarious start to this video
Very valid points in this video, I'm digging the business look
Definitely seen a couple of these. Thanks for the great video
This is a very informative video and helps people understand why some sell the way they do great video
Great stuff Mr X thanks for the clues!!peace ✌
You made some good points throughout the video, I definitely agree
Great Video , refreshing break from the usual everyday youtuber content
Good advice. Don’t know much on selling high end collectables but I could’ve guessed a good review = a high value.
Good tips! Agree on all points.
I think you hit the nail on the head with everything. That about sums it up
I agree pop culture and popularity are a huge thing when it comes to the price of statues
Great vid, nice to see something a bit different
Supply and demand man! Right on point. The popularity and rarity of any item will push it into the echelon of $$$$$$$. Ridiculously expensive !
Great list X 👌.
Another great informative video 👍🏾
Great topic!
Mr X is very smart, I suggest all take heed to his advice.
Thank you for the educational video Mr.X.
YOU FORGOT THE MOST IMPORTANT. ALWAYS INCREASE YOUR STATUE'S VALUE BY HAVING Mrs.X FIX THE STATUES THAT ARRIVE TO YOU BROKEN. PEACE & BLESSINGS. 👊🏽🥃🥃
Great video on statue values, I'm glad I got out when I did, I don't think I'd spend this kind of money on them now, way to expensive for me. I'll just admire yours. Lol
Funny - I say Carabean for the movie and caribean when just talking about the place. Great video X!
You pretty much hit all the points!
..what's with all the different video filter FX?
0:14 filter looks interesting, even if it washes out most of the coor from the statues in the background.

I need more statues and more space but to me it's always been the value of something is how much someone is willing to pay
Don't forget about the version (or edition) like exclusive, deluxe, XM version, etc
Yeah. Pop culture is definitely relevant in statue sales and the value. There were times I couldn’t sell a statue until a movie of that character came out. Then it became a lot easier.

Great point. Subjective on buyer.
i agree with all of these. ES and popularity are key
Mr X has to be one of the best statue collector ...

Good insights here.
What about the age of a statue? Older, less common, even less details depending on the age. Hand sculpted vs 3D printed?
The blurred borders of the camera lens and the high contrast made me think I was going to have my fortune told for a second.
Also, do you have a tutorial on how to make a statue LESS valuable? doesn't have to be permanent as I plan to use this knowledge to make statues I like affordable enough for me to pick it up then it can go back to being expensive again after I've bought it.
Good to think about, thanks.
You need to start buying and reviewing more of the statues I have so their value increased
I am currently eyeing a Frazetta-owned Death Dealer, just gotta have it! If it's available when my $ gets right, I will have it!
Good video.
shipping is the main reason i haven't bought any of the xm xmen statue. I would like to get xm Magik statue
I'm going to guess, keep it as clean as possible, including the factory packaging.
-ope the list was different than what I was expecting, I like that the list is what your categories are, it makes complete sense.
My own criteria is : sculptor, number of units issued, character, and how much I personally like it. Just me.
Damn kinda wish this video was made when I started collecting very useful info
awesome video
Very good information I agree people who like venom would like to have a venom statue or the new Batman what ever is hot at the time you get all caught up then later no one wants it and like said shipping cost is ridiculous and would be hard to get back love this channel no other person doing this is as entertaining or good as you are
A variation on the influencer point is the fame/trust/influence of the seller.
but in my opinion we should get more licensed dr doom statues (especially 1/6 scale one)
The Prime1 Skull Knight on horse is already on eBay for $5k, and the standing Skull Knight was $2.9k.
Ridiculous
I wonder if companies making both a 1/6 and 1/4 in more or less the same pose will effect value.
Did you see what Tweeterhead did with their joker on throne. Their 1/4 is double the price of their 1/6 but technically it is only 6 inches taller.
You mentioned size as a factor, but scale plays a factor too. Some scales are more popular than others.
And Red Sonja, Lady Death, Vampirella.
None of the criteria outlined makes a blind bit of difference to the sale value, the only factor that matters is what a punter is prepared to pay. Nice vid
haven't made it through one Moon Knight episode, Saturday mornings I turn it on and I'm back to sleep.
A lot of good info
Regardless of whatever value people try to put on a statue. The final decision of what it's really worth is on the Pearson making the purchase. But what they list for on ebay compared to what they sell for is usually much different
@@TheXtremeChannelMrX yes Absolutely. That was supposed to be an example.
A other good insight piece although you sound a little jet lagged. I’ve been inquiring more on pieces and I feel like the shipping is going to start killing a lot of us in the US where some of the great pieces are not available.
This was filmed awhile ago
Unfortunately the way the MCU is heading
It will probably negatively effect Marvel statue prices in the future
Pretty solid list. I don't think I could part with any of my statues.
Okay I’ll admit it I roll my eye when another Batman is released… but I understand it if it sells make it. I agree 100% if I see another Wolverine I’m losing my shit. 😊
Nice hair and shirt today. Lol. All great points. An items is worth what people are willing to pay for it. Supply and demand
Mr. X autograph would probably add a couple hundred on the value
i think you failed to address the phallic factor....fits right in with the size matters segment lol
True true!
You're right about influencers, I bought my first custom from the Todd, I was pumped about it and saw you had a reveiw! You hated it so I threw it in the garbage, now I hate it too! (I'm kidding, I still love it)
It's really similar to comic books collecting as an example I had the first appearance of carnage that comic book Skyrocket in price for the hyper the movie then when it was done it got destroyed in price I think statues are pretty much the same maybe a few differences here and there 😀
I was thinking that exact same thing as I was editing
Definitely think the most important factor that you mentioned is if theres a movie or show, it will sell like hotcakes 🥞 😋
Nice blue shirt. I fell asleep watching moon as well.
I think custom value is capped at $2000 shipped. Is that crazy talk?
Most I’ve sold a custom is $9k
The value is in the heart of the collector interested in buying the statue. Childhood memories can be very powerful, lol
Childhood memories is definitely up there for me. The 80's dominate my collection
Just like mythos Vader has a high edition size but value is like 4 times the retail price
When hiring a professional to paint or repaint your statue, how much he or she charges is another factor and if you have artist or celebrity autograph your statue to increase value. Still have to pay shipping if by delivery. Cheers 🍻👊🏼
“Some people actually believe what the media says too”
Lol have a like good sir!
I dont know about value but I'm all for hype! 😅
I learned some great things in this video, but easily the most value is the value of a nut 🥜
Whats the best company that makes statues you think ??
A video launches on that later this month. It’s already in the Que for members.
Meh, in the old days, when we had to increase the price of a statue, we'd buy 5 of them, and then smash 4 of them on camera... THANOS has got sh*t on me...
Lol, that shirt makes u look like u have some Mean Moobs! Great video btw
Yeah shipping is insane! it's the worst part about collecting!
"I know customs affect the value, not the customs like the border protection" LOL
Great guide. Have scored some real gems that have fallen out of favor with youtube for a fraction of retail. So I'm all for the bad reviews. 🤣
I just enjoy MR X videos and jokes lol
