Bloberta might have been the one to introduce Clay to alcohol but I hope that no one blames all of his later actions on her. He's still a grown man cabable of making his own decisions. Neither of them are blameless or good people.

@@bluegirl278 Yeah if the genders were reversed I'd still condemn both of them just as much. Of course I feel pity for Clay for being in this situation but his abuse of Orel is his own doing, not Bloberta's. Not that Bloberta hasn't abused Orel herself. Like I said, she's also not blameless. Also a later episode shows that Clay was a spoiled brat as a child so it's not that he was always some perfect angel before meeting Bloberta anyway.

@@phoney2627 definitely, he had some serious issues he needed to deal with regardless of Bloberta. Just because we don’t see them in this episode doesn’t mean they aren’t there. We see them clearly the next episode.

I feel bad for Bloberta, despite the fact that she played a part in ruining Clay's life.
Also, i liked it when her mom told her to "do something useful and clean your room", which might have been where her obsession for cleaning started, because it made her feel helpful and worthy.

Sad irony is that all of Bloberta’s friends ended up having horrible marriages. So Bloberta not only followed the same path, she also got married for nothing.

She introduced him to alcohol because the only times her dad loved her (aka encouraged her, stood up for her) were when he's drunk. She thought she could make Clay happy by giving him wine.

maybe if the show continued, bloberta’s dad could’ve had a talk with clay??? it would’ve been a cool interaction… it’s just odd that bloberta’s family seems to be nonexistent throughout the show

The Mountain Goats - Old College Try.
Mountain Goats strikes again shame youtube copyrighted the songs on the episodes they are so good.

Bloberta is the reason why clay became an alcoholic. When her son asked why she married him she just didn't give him a good answer because she knew what she did and she's been trying so hard not to tell her son the truth. That explains why she went to the hallway and broke down crying because she was forced to reflect on her terrible choices and her past came back to haunt her. She marry clay because she was desperate and she wanted to get out of her family life. At the end she didn't run away from her problems it caught up to her and she's Now worse off than ever before. Her mother was a terrible parent and her father was a coward. As for her friends who are getting married, their marriages ended badly so she got married for nothing.
