ReeWray thank you for the review, and the testing automatic solar charging, I also liked your idea of testing UPS feature with 2 different computers, gives folks different things to think about. thank you again.
Génial la description du produit. Je n'ai pas trouvé de test en français et je dois dire que vous m'avez convaincu avec tous vos essais. Explication claire et bonne pédagogie. Continuer comme ça. Un grand salut de France, hi guy
The AC inverter idle load is concerning. You said it draws 2.25% per hour @ idle which implies a 45 W idle load from the inverter. You got efficiency in the low 80s% using a high wattage heater. If you apply a smaller load like a 100w refrigerator, efficiency would drop to something like 50% due to the high inverter idle load. A good standalone 2KW inverter draws
Nice review. The 55x21 plugs are one of the first thing I look for. All of my astronomy gear runs off of them. Much better than the car outlet plug that always works loose. Although I don’t use them for this purpose, a lot of portable medical gear (such as C-pap and oxygen generators) can run off of them.
love the video! FYI I did read on their website that it supports pass-through charging as you showcased, but "if the power consumption required by the external device exceeds the charging power to the battery, the output is given priority to the external device and the battery charging will be delayed". Thus your higher watt oil heater example took priority and it was not charging during that test and your lower watt example was less than the solar charging wattage coming in, so it was charging during that test. :)
Good review, interesting product. It does have a few little quirks. UPS, but not really UPS, starts to recharge when the sun comes up, but doesn’t fully utilize all the wattage!! Good price per watt device
Almost a great unit but with no 30amp plug it's a no go. A lot of us like plugging in our trailers and rvs. I just got the anker 767 for $1600 and it is definitely and upgrade to this unit.
I have an older power bank with the 30 amp plug, just know that I can only use 15 amps only but it is enough to power lights or the water pump on my class b.
Click the the down twice lol. Good one. Nice review. I have 2 allpowers s700 and been looking for a larger power station that can power a microwave and cook plate
If I understood your tests and numbers. This would run just the laptop for almost 5 continuous days before needing to recharge. Whereas your tower would go for about 22 hours. As an emergency power source this might be a good option. At 1500 dollars it really wouldn't do much in the way of running even a single room. Unless everything in that room was incredibly low wattage like your laptop. Camping this would make a great gasless power option. And as you mention a UPS.
Have you done Champion yet? I ask because they make so many other things and generators. Something that guarantees the company will be there in 10 years. The others? Toss up.
I thought one of these might be handy to keep my boiler circulating pump going during a winter power outage along with phones and other minor stuff. Can it sit fully charged without issue?
Did you measure if the unit was actually pulling full current from solar while a high AC load was on? From what you showed I think you’re saying that the display is showing 0 because the 300W of solar isn’t going to the battery but the power is going directly to the AC inverter?
I try to use the DC as much as possible when camping. The barrel plugs usually take up less room sticking out and I have had better luck with them not coming detached
So far I hven't found an afffordable power station that could directly power a typical amateur radio 100w transceiver, 12v DC 25 amps. All that would take is a direct connection to the battery, avoiding plugging an external DC power supply into an AC outlet. If anyone has found a power station with this capability please advise. Thanks.
A comment about UPS mode. If you measure this, you’ll probably find switchover time is in excess of 30 ms. Some devices, like a lightly loaded computer power supply, might survive this. A heavily loaded one, and most other devices will not. The standard for dedicated UPS is in the 4 to 8 ms range (1/4-1/2 cycle @60Hz). 20ms is good enough for most laptops. This one is obviously longer than that.
Really enjoy your reviews. Appreciate your focus on products that offer something different than the rest of the pack, keeping it interesting. Did you test it for the ability to charge from solar and a/c at the same time?
I actually did not. :P But this thing pulls about 1400W+ via AC so, I'm not sure it'd be necessary to even bother trying to do that, even if it was supported (and I'm pretty sure it's not).
@ReeWray Outdoors Thank you for your quick response. Doh! I guess I missed that. I will try to pay better attention. That's a very good point. Would probably be better for the battery to charge at a lower wattage anyway. With no Bluetooth app, it probably isn't adjustable.
@@davidhowell7279 Hey no worries. And yeah, BT app with adjustable charging would have been an excellent option. :P Decent unit but it does have its compromises.
@@davidhowell7279 Actually, apparently it DOES do both AC and Solar at the same time, enabling you to fully charge in about 1.3 hrs...not a huge gain, but yeah, according to their website, it does.
Bit of an odd decision to exclude both vehicle charging and charging with a smaller, 12v solar setup. I guess they aren't going after that van/overlanding/camping market and this is really just for people who want to put this in their house or off-grid cabin and leave it there. If that is all you want, maybe you can save some $$ with this. I will say the fact that it pulls 15 amps while charging from AC without any way to reduce the charge rate is another potentially significant downside. You basically need a dedicated or unused circuit for it, and you also can't use one of those tiny gas generators to charge it.
I've regularly charged the thing while running a 200W grow lamp off the same 15A circuit without issue...so unless you're already pulling well-over 200W off that circuit, shouldn't be a problem. Regarding the lack of car and 12-18V charging...yeah, kind of a bummer, but I'm guessing that their reasoning is that at over 2000Wh, charging off a 12V car port would take a pretty ridiculous amount of time anyway...but, I'd rather have it than not. :P
I think it's a decent choice if you buy it with that big Amazon coupon that gets the price down to $1K It's a lot of features and capacity at that price. Cooling fans are a little noisy when they kick in...but as long as you're not trying to sleep right next to it, it's probably fine for most people.
@@ReeWrayOutdoorsI meant to add that your content is amazing and well presented. It would kind of be cool if you presented a quick quarterly review of what you think are your top 5 units are. No need to redo everything maybe just add links to them in order of ranking. This stuff changes dramatically almost monthly, so your work is greatly appreciated.
Ha~! Yeah I've seen that on MOST of the power station listings on Amazon. Must be a default label or something when you pick that particular product classification.
Well, they don't actually 'pay' me. I check that box for that disclosure because they do send me the product. And I don't ONLY do reviews on things that were sent to me...it's just that I've had so much of that lately, it's all I've had time to do! :P I'm trying to squeeze in a couple non-brand specific videos here soon to help people make the best decisions for what their specific priorities are. I also do sometimes review stuff that I buy with my own money - and I do point that out when that's the case.

Yeah this is definitely not targeted for that market. Without a battery expansion option, not really any point to adding a 30A plug.
Good note on no expansion option. That is a requirement for me.
Do you mind sharing where you got the Anker so cheap?

Can you try UPS mode again with the laptop by turning off the Power save mode (you can see that it is on as indicated by the Moon icon)?

Am I able to use 2 100 watt jackery solar panel to charge this?

Hi, so this it's not able to charge (or expanded) with your DC/DC 12/24v converter trick? It's safe to use a 12/36v DC/DC converter and add it to car?
Great price but what is the shipping up here to Canada so far that has been outrageous our lower dollar is bad enough but I'll look into this

You may want to consider EMP protection!! Or you'll be sitting in dark next to your generator!!
What solar panels were you using to charge it? What was the input voltage and amp?
I was using 3 - 200W panels from BougeRV wired in series. Vmp = 18V and Imp 11.12A Voc measured right at that 60V max for the power station.
Seems like they budgeted a lil too much on the mppt controller...Not bad but not the best...Good warranty!
That’s a very fair assessment!
This is listed at 2300.00 now. Big price jump in 6 months.
Yikes! Yeah...not a deal at that price!
Anyone else notice the screen saying 110v and 50Hz?😮💨
It's actually 60Hz, but yeah, AC output measured at 111V as I show in the testing clips (spec'd at 110V).
110v is good enough to run the fridge and tv and to me that’s all that matters
