  • Strap in for this roller coaster ride and please take care out there!
What started out as an epic session on the Tumut river nearly ended in disaster after water release's from Blowering Dam were instantly raised from 650 to 4500 Megalitres, the water was rising so quickly it was a race against time to find a safe place to cross to the other side before the river was too high and too fast to get back across without getting washed away.
The trout fishing before the rise was the best I had seen it with multiple hits and hook ups from some great fish while casting light weight soft plastics. This was an epic session which I will never forget for more reasons then one.

WOW, what a close call. Water is so powerful when it's running hard.
Bloody ripper fishing session before the river rose though.

Yeah it really was, I’m glad I picked up on the change in the river when I did, another few minutes and I may have been looking at a very long walk in the dark to get up to the nearest bridge and back down the other side.
The fishing in the Tumut is probably the best I’ve seen it, the rain really helps some rivers to thrive.

You and me both, it was only a matter of minutes before I would not of gotten across and I would have had to hike it back to the nearest bridge which would have been a huge walk.

They are a great fun species to chase especially when they are switched on like this.

Awesome video! and educates you what can happen if it is a tailrace fishery.Would a dry bag be a good option for your camera! I have had expensive sea to summit ones and they don't seem that good I find the cheap Anko ones from Kmart are more reliable, they are a bit heavier and thicker I think the sea to summit are too focused on making them lightweight for hikers ect.

      Thank you
I hope it does help someone not get caught out.
Absolutely I have since bought a dry bag for my camera for when I’m on foot, thanks that’s good advice. Not sure what brand it is but it’s not the sea to summit.
