Great demo and overview. A pleasure to hear Tom Quayle playing acoustic with his beautiful touch and tone! The cedar and walnut combination is incredible sounding. I have three cedar topped guitars and it really has a warmth yet clarity that is extremely versatile for both fingerstyle or flat picking.
Just bought a 30 year old Lowden 023c... My goodness, what a gorgeous and rich tone. Mine is the old 5 piece neck and a round green Lowden label inside
You mentioned that the top is very thick looking through the sound hole. Lowden use an extra reinforcing piece of wood here much in the style of classical builders; the purpose to strenghen what is the weakest part of guitar top. This extra wood patch is only from the sound hole to the A and X braces - a pentagon shape if you will. The rest of the top is just as thin as other quality acoustics.
Personally, l use Elixir Nanoweb phosphor bronze 12/53. This was advice from the first owner of my Lowden who was professional musician. It's ok. I play practically always in open tuning.
Great demo for sure. I have 3 year old 0_23 and it's the best guitar I have ever played. Cedar and walnut too. Just want to play like tom now.........☺
That’s awesome to hear about your O 23! I bet it has a full, rich sound. How do ya like the size, being closer to jumbo, compared to the other series? I play from soft fingerstyle to quite hard percussive playing, and I’m unsure which series might suit my style best. My wife and I are making a road trip to Springfield to the Acoustic Shoppe to try two F series and an O series Lowden. Here’s hoping!

Yes, thank you. It is probably a bit thicker then they would make a sitka spruce top since spruce is stiffer. But not that much.
Amazing sounds
Great sound and great playing ! Can you tell me what strings you use (I have an O25)? Thanx!
