Thank you so much for subscribing! I am new at making videos, and just do it to share my life. It’s really fun to show people what life is like as an expat in Korea. Hopefully I will make more fun videos to entertain you.

Everything is a bit cheaper than the supermarkets in California except for those apples... they should import apples from Washington state at least 5x cheaper and probably better. Thanks for sharing the video

The watermelon here is even more expensive! I guess at least the apples are huge since they are expensive- even thought they are domestic.

Yeah I really don't get why fruit is so expensive in South Korea. There is so much agriculture land there but I guess there is literally no one in the countryside growing them. I mean don't South Koreans have a concept of farming as a job vocation and can't they make quite a bit of money during harvest if they just grow fruit? But noooo, so many young youth of South Korea are fixated on cities and moving/living there and complaining about having no jobs etc...when there is LITERALLY a gaping need for more, cheaper fruit produce there but no one is willing to go to the countryside and grow them. Looks like the government isn't really much of a help either to promote this.

The fruit truly is expensive. Actually, locally produced fruit is more expensive than imported fruit! Most domestic foods such as beef and pork are more expensive than imported ones. This is for a few reasons. One is Koreans think the quality is much better so the price is elevated. It is kind of a luxury to eat Korean beef. Another reason is because of farming. While I do agree with you, most younger generation strive for city life, I do disagree with there being a lot of agricultural land. 70% of Korea is made up of mountains. This makes it difficult to farm. I currently live in the countryside and not in the city. Even though I am in the countryside, unless I want to farm on a hillside, there is not much flat land for agriculture. I also laugh whenever I am traveling in Korea. On road trips, I feel like I spend half of the drive in tunnels alone since the country is basically mountains. All thing considered, it is interesting the prices of food, but also more interesting that usually imported foods are cheaper than domestic. Hopefully, in the future there is a better way to combat these price tags and the inflation that is making them worst.
