Great video! I wrote a comment on one of your zander videos, where you used the same rig, that I'm struggling with hookset ratio. This video explained, why I might have this problem - the positioning of the hook. Will try out your hair rig!
Another great video Andrew. Did have two questions until you explained why to use a fixed lead. The other question is, has the fluorocarbon been OK for the pike, i.e. not bite offs
I use 0.40 fluoro leaders, I knot them too. In 5 years only 2 pikes snapped it, also caught my PB pike on it, but if the leader is in their mouth, only god knows. With their sharp teeth, even a little pike can in theory bite it through, if the line touches in a bad angle with the teeth.
Thank you for the great advise ! Would you also use this setup in still lakes / harbour areas ? I am quite curious about the fixed lead . Do you think it works better, if not only, with live bait ? Greetings from Vienna , Johannes
Andrew, I'm assuming you've had a few pike as a by catch on this rig. Does that thickness of Fluorocarbon cope okay with them? Just i use 1mm on my pike rod so was interested. Great channel, subscribing was an easy decision.
Andrew! Please! I have watched many/most of your vids. I love them and you because of your sweet attitude. When you say "thank you" to the fish. etc. Please do not advocate "live-baiting" It is deliberately cruel and unnecesary. Which is morally and ethically different to fishing/angling. Please do not do this.
I agree with you that it's a bit cruel. But fishing is a cruel anyway. See when you play a fish and enjoying that process, fish actually fights for it's life. Also, very little percentage (in most cases less than 5%) of fish make to reproduction age (hence fish lay 10000s of eggs to sustain the population) and sacrificing odd small specimen does very little damage in big picture. All in all, I do think what I do and even though fishing is a bit 'bloody sport' in a way, I accept that fact but try to do as little damage to the fish as possible in big picture. Cheers
Jesus dude you are FISHING. Do you think a big Zander or pike moralises before butchering it’s prey? Seriously, this vegan bs is a little too much nowadays. If you think live-baiting is cruel then I suggest just don’t fish at all, it’s not like catching a fish on a hook is rose bush stroll. Maybe try something milder with a stick f.e cricket. Respectfully, J
You’re an absolute star. I’m definitely using this on my next trip. ❤
Great video!

great information Andrew well done , and i will keep learning
Great to hear!
Great info thanks. Will try using it for black bass next time in Florida
Good luck!
Very good friend, your other video's too.
ı'm watching from Turkey ,Thanks for everyting bro ı will try this🙏👍
Cheers
Thank you for the good info.
Any time!
Another great video Andrew. Did have two questions until you explained why to use a fixed lead. The other question is, has the fluorocarbon been OK for the pike, i.e. not bite offs
FC 0,50mm snaps really easy if you have a pike on. 0,25mm is ok for zander.

Any pike present you SHOULD be using wire, otherwise your knowingly putting the fish at risk.
I Will try, super rig!!!! Thx
Good luck!
if you want to do a video off my boat on the severn at Upton you are very welcome ,trotting for barbel or Zander fishing
Very tempting offer! Will have it in mind! Thanks
Nice rig, but will the live bait not die when sticking a needle in its head?
You have to spike the fish just below the eyes.
Thank you for the great advise !

Yes, absolutely
@@AndrewsKnotsThank you for the response! Would you still use a 2oz lead in a Lake / Harbour ? Or does it depend on the size of the bait?
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
Any time.
Beauty!
Thanks.
Hi. The lead- system is fixed? Or it works as a running rig and the fish needs only a small pressure to run? Keep up your good work. THX
Fixed initially.
Tried this...first two runs was bitten off by pike. Do not use fluro line if pike are present
I'm sorry maybe I missed you mention it, but what is the weight of the lead sinker?
As always, depends on the situation.
great
Thanks 👌
Do this method works for river?
Yes.

Not many. This thickness is not enough for pike fishing.
Does this rig drop the lead ?
It's possible but Zander does not run like Carp would.
@@AndrewsKnots so it acts like a bit of a bolt rig ? Great channel by the way Andrew, I've learnt a lot, cheers.
How long stay live fish on this rig
Depends.
@@AndrewsKnots thank you watching your videos today i managed to catch the biggest fish chub with lure
Всё понравилось я только не понял поводок сам с какого материала идет спс ?
Fluorocarbon.
@@AndrewsKnots Thank you.🇺🇦
@@AndrewsKnots Thank you.🇺🇦
Andrew, have you ever tried / used this rig for catfish in UK? - would it be your prefered rig for Cats (apart from maybe a dumbell rig)?
I've not. Cheers
