Love the honesty of the video. It is so true that every now and then we question our path. But ultimately a higher force from above keeps showing us the way and it feels like every turn we take shapes our persona in ways that it feels that energy is actually preparing us for what’s to come. Whether it’s a learning experience or the actual ultimate goal. Keep it Justin! Greater things are yet to come. God bless 🙏

Thank you so much Michael! Definitely. That’s a great application of Romans 8:28 right there. God uses all things for good-
Also- so nice to hear from you again! Hope life’s been going well- :)

Loved listening to you…so nice to hear that music still finds a way to touch you. I hope you never lose that…God will always provide for your needs…He is good and can be trusted.
I understand about the fear of starting over. I felt that way too each time I started a new job with a new company, when I did Treasure Boutique, again in ministry and in moving to TN… you are right, there are ups and downs with any career and even in long term relationships. maybe the answer isn’t in “making it” maybe it’s the lives you touch along the way and how you continue to become more like Jesus in the journey. I love you so much and am so proud of you for the person you are and also who you are becoming. It’s a life long journey and I’m so glad God isn’t finished in growing snd shaping me and I love seeing you grow. You ARE amazing and have touched countless lives for good. So glad you’re my son. What an incredible blessing you are. ❤❤❤

I've been at the "so close" mark a few times. I've gotten to do a good bit of really cool things, but never have gotten to the full time stage that I've wanted to be at, or haven't found a long term consistent secular gig. I've played for a Sony artist and moved to Nashville but that was a flop, so I ended up moving back to Atlanta. Where I have a lot of great opportunities around churches, it's great. I've got a lot more work and a better community down here than I did up there. But I can't help to sulk a little when I start to think about all of the "so closes" that I've had and feel like I should just give up. But like you, I'll play a good gig or see a cool show and get that fire again. I don't think I'm working hard enough. But it is hard to try to work harder when you keep getting pushed back. Maybe it's just something I need to pray more about.
Glad you put out this video. It's super relatable.

Thank you so much Clayton! And dang man- I can definitely empathize with how frustrating that must’ve been. Like you know, music is a lot of hard work, a lot of who you know, and then some being in the right place at the right time.
I’d say having a great community around you is probably more important than having a high level gig. And you know, I heard a pastor once say that you have to do what God is blessing. Which it sounds like you’re doing! That doesn’t make being in so close any easier though. At any rate, I hope those doors open for you soon!

Granted I’m nowhere NEAR “making it”, but still, whenever I get drained and bored with music I listen to “Sucked Out” by Superdrag. It’s all about the monotony of playing music for a living. You’re definitely not alone in that feeling.
    Keep going!

    • @JustinMuncy
      @JustinMuncy  6 месяцев назад

For sure, any job can get monotonous! That's definitely a factor. I think for me, it's really more about the meaning behind it. It can be challenging to be doing something adjacent to what you had hoped you'd be doing. But you know, God meets us where we are uses it for His good.

Very good, vulnerable and relatable video. I started playing guitar cause of Keith Urban. Often times I get burnt out with it, using my time for that and not other things. But the itch keeps coming back to get better

Thank you so much! Keith Urban is definitely a top 3 guitarist for me, if not number 1! His style is so melodic-
And for sure! Life is always about balance. The tricky part is finding the right balance haha!

I appreciate your authenticy on these videos. It’s helpful b/c when I watch your channel, I see the greener grass for me. The toss-a-pigskin-over-that-mountain Napoleon Dynamite thing lol.
I’ve always found the idea of contributing to my field in some way feels like a very satisfying and meaningful pursuit. So here’s a crazy idea: release your own overdrive pedal?! Here’s a freebie: 3 different clipping options, clean blend, 4 presets you can toggle via TRS (see page 7 in the manual for Pigtronix Cosmosis) or 1/4” (or 3.5mm) midi. Deluxe version could be a dual overdrive that has an expandora side. Then proceed to take my wallet 😂
Anyway, I hope you find rest this weekend. Sometimes that’s all I need! (I have to pray for it sometimes too).

Thank you Joshua!! Much appreciated. Gonna try and enjoy this Saturday as much possible-
I think life is still life at the end of the day hahaha!
And that’s a great freebie right there. That would be a pretty epic drive pedal. Maybe you should get into pedal design? Seems like you’ve got some great ideas-
