5:37 "Z-Glide" TBH, the idea worked when a full gloss finish was used, the market however preferred satin finish on the backs of necks. I agree Austin, the TV Yellow and Black Binding is a real treat for the eyes. A pair of black P-90s would really take this '50s Mahogany Top to the next level.
I think it's time to say it: I've been watching only since last March or April and I'm hooked! I've watched hundreds of videos and I still have thousands more to watch! Love the methodology and enthusiam you have, Trogly! Oh, and SHOCKER!!! Trogly likes the neck pickup! Love ya Trogly!!!
I'm not a fan of tv yellow but you opened that case and even I said "nice!" Might be the black binding makes it pop that little extra I needed...or just a great top under. But that's a nice one!
ok...on the pickup leads. Kinda makes me hope you remove the backplate first just to see if there's a cluster of wire hiding in there. Thinking back to an early install I did where I bundled the extra wire vs. trimming it down :)
Gibson is probably testing the market on this model, using two 'safe bet' colours to ensure stock doesn't hang around too long if the Hog concept isn't accepted
It looks great with black biding and I love 50s necks. It is a kind of reversed Standard in Ebony. Put a maple fretboard with black inlays (e.g. SG dark) and remove the veneer from the face of the headstock and you have full reversed Standard aged (yellowed) Ebony.
I like these back to traditional build. Looks cool TV yellow is nice. Nice video tonight Trogly good job thank you. I agree it would be cool with a maple neck .
Cool you reviewed this 2024 50s Standard Hog Top TV Yellow! Both finishes look awesome but I agree with you on the tv yellow and black binding as a better contrast. That rosewood board is gorgeous.
Dig it. I remember those LP Standard Traditionals from a few years ago that had a 'hog' top but a natural finish. Those were banging guitars with a wonderful more mellow tone. Yeah, I agree the tv yellow stands out more.
The fretboard looks weird past the 22nd fret due to the black neck binding. The Burstbucker 1 and Burstbucker 2 are the best humbucking pickups, and feature the just-right-sounding AlNiCo 2 magnets.
I actually like the look of the red one more. But then again I've just never been partial to TV yellow. I think other finishes that would work well is that dark burst they make Firebirds and Thunderbirds in.
I have a Trad Pro V. Single piece mahogany top. I love the modern appointments and like the darker tone on a Les Paul without having to go to a different model I don't like as much as the LP.
T his is a really good looking alternative to a regular type Les Paul Standard etc! I love the TV Yellow finish with the black binding! I like it better than the red version also. But i'm hoping we get to see a review of that one as well. Anyway great review Trogly sounds pretty good too!
Would like to see glow in the dark, green or blue, position dots on the fingerboard edge stock from the factory. Helps on a low lit stage. Also would work great with that black neck binding. Come on Gibson, make that happen if you don't offer that feature stock from the factory!
@@sgt.grinch3299 We sound the same age. My mom's 79th birthday is a couple of weeks away,...my dad recently passed. He absolutely loved hearing me play foghat and Skynyrd on my strat,.. unplugged. Songs he loved. JUSTSAYIN'.
I have a set of Wilde L500s (XL & R) sitting in a drawer. I’ve been waiting for something to catch my eye to drop them into. These TV yellow 50s hogtops have my attention
I go with the yellow. The red one looks too much like a Les Paul......(shuddering) studio. This has got some great gritty-but-clean tones to it. Kinda like a Telecaster. And again, your playing - getting better each demo!
Nice sound, color nice too, black binding mmmmhh, not sure, something I didn´t realize from the video: it is coming with long tenon joint?, thanks.....
I would like to see how Gibson would do a black binding a custom. My dream made to measure Les Paul custom would be a translucent light grey burst heavily flamed top with a darker gray teardrop border, black multiply binding, black inlays, maple fretboard with gray stain, matching dark gray headstock. Kinda monochrome but with black accents. I would like better if it was white, but how it's harder to get it right it can be grey!
Would be cool to see CS versions w/ maple and hog tops all aniline-dyed front and back. The hog would just be cool that it was all the same color. Then in maple top you could see how woods show the color differently.
I thought Austin had took the "Blinders" off but he has fallen back to his obsession of Les Pauls. I smiled and had a warm feeling inside when he started expanding his taste of Gibson guitars by buying a bunch of cool Explorers and even a few Flying Vs but he did a 180 and nows it's mostly Les Pauls again. Austin, I love your quirky ways when it comes to guitars and you are willing to stand up and admit when you get something wrong which is a very good trait for a human being but please for the love of God and Baby Jesus would you start giving more air time to some of the other cool Gibson guitars? I get it, you love Les Pauls but there are so many cool guitars that need to be seen on your show. Give some more Love to The Firebirds, Flying Vs, SGs, EDS-1275, ES 335, Explorers! There are so many Gibson guitars that the average player doesn't know about and deep dives on them would be very cool. You still need to do a series on every type of Gibson Pickup. Guitar players want to know stuff like that. You need grow your Gibson Love into other areas besides the Mighty Les Paul!
Wasn't full mahogany Les Paul's original concept? I never thought about it but the redesigned SG did follow Les' vision of a full mahogany body and neck. For some reason he wasn't down with the maple cap.
Love the tv yellow not so much the red one. The black binding is ok but that red one WOW cream plastics would’ve been better not a fan of the tv yellow.
As much as I love them both. I like the red and black better. It looks, nastier in my opinion at least you can see the woodgrain in both of them though. The wood looks better with the red on it. But they both look amazing and for the price, not too shabby. Almost in my price range, that I could afford right now.

Maple
Trogly, I had a dream that Gibson made a Les Paul Supreme Special.
It had a flame top, super 400 inlays with gold mini humbuckers instead of P90s.
Team maple. I would like cream binding on both.
I had a dream once that there was a fourth kind of average, I don't have a full life
I think they both look classy with the black binding and plastics. Whether it was traditional or not, it works esthetically for me.
I can see why they marked it M for mahogany..... so they don't confuse it with M for maple😮
Maybe that's why there's an asterisk on it too, "*M... but not THAT M!"
Wasn't maple top marked 'F' for flame and 'Q' for quilt?
I think it's time to say it: I've been watching only since last March or April and I'm hooked! I've watched hundreds of videos and I still have thousands more to watch! Love the methodology and enthusiam you have, Trogly!

Uncovered, double-black Burstbuckers would look good.
I like chrome covers but I agree here!
Definitely with the pickguard !
The amount of tooling marks on the binding/fretboard is wild on a $2.4k guitar
Good Job Trogly. Hope they do one with P-90's
Me too. Very cool guitar.
A silver fox version of this: 1000% yes!
Just ordered the Epi 59 ES 355.
Looks like the best deal out there currently.
Enjoy!

Totally

I like it, Im not a big fan of black binding on rosewood fretboards, but its ok on this one.
It's cool, it tends to vanish on ebony unless it's natural without the jet black dye.
I LOVE the black binding on the TV yellow!! The red would've looked cooler with the Voodoo pickups.
Noticed what looked like a small finish mar or chip on the headstock between the G and B tuners.
Yes! P90 version and colors other than red!
Gibson is probably testing the market on this model, using two 'safe bet' colours to ensure stock doesn't hang around too long if the Hog concept isn't accepted
Definitely something out of the ordinary for a LP. Looks good and I have a feeling it will be a rare model 10 or 20 years down the road.
I like the matching screwdriver handle and multi meter
Black binding all the way around!!! ❤️👍
I always love TV Yellow LP Special with P-90's, so this one caught my attention
I agree with the yellow but seeing the cherry is now a tough decision a 50s tv yellow would be my preferance
TV yellow! Not boring at all.🎸👍
It looks great with black biding and I love 50s necks. It is a kind of reversed Standard in Ebony. Put a maple fretboard with black inlays (e.g. SG dark) and remove the veneer from the face of the headstock and you have full reversed Standard aged (yellowed) Ebony.

I like them both but I prefer the cherry one.
I love that red one! A red 50s would be what I'd go for.
i think cream binding would have been better
Me too...I like the cream plastics with cream binding....banana better than bumblebee.
I’ve always wanted a Les Paul in bright Yellow with black binding and plastics. This is close and I do like the 50’s neck profile.
The binding looks killer !!! with P-90s I would buy it !
Gibson missed it without an Ebony fretboard. Would have looked way better and made it more unique.
The fretboard looks weird past the 22nd fret due to the black neck binding. The Burstbucker 1 and Burstbucker 2 are the best humbucking pickups, and feature the just-right-sounding AlNiCo 2 magnets.

Gibson TV Yellow a brilliant gesture to Norms rare guitar. love it.
Nice option... but they only got me when you showed the Pelham Blue concept. With P90s, I'd have to pull the trigger on one!
It looks like a cheap Hondo from 1979😂 but thats why i like it. Cool❤
TV Hog, very nice, love those Burstbuckers '
T his is a really good looking alternative to a regular type Les Paul Standard etc! I love the TV Yellow finish with the black binding! I like it better than the red version also. But i'm hoping we get to see a review of that one as well.
Anyway great review Trogly sounds pretty good too!
the red one reminds me of the Special Plus, Would like a reissue of that guitar.
I honestly prefer the cherry finish. It reminds me of the EB3 bass I used to have.
Red hog top for me, but I want a black case with red interior, please Gibson.
Love the tv yellow with black accents. Looks like my motorcycle.
As much as I love black n red color combo, I have to go with the TV yellow. It just works. 🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽
Maple fretboard options on production runs would be a nice option without going custom shop prices.
Mahogany top, tv yellow and black binding? I would take one!
Looks very smart.
Now they need to do ebony with yellow plastics and binding.
Make it in white with the black binding! I like it looks cool
Would like to see glow in the dark, green or blue, position dots on the fingerboard edge stock from the factory. Helps on a low lit stage. Also would work great with that black neck binding. Come on Gibson, make that happen if you don't offer that feature stock from the factory!
5:35 Honeycomb sticker at the back of the headstock….with a stinger of coarse.🎸🐝👍
I have a thing for cherry guitars all of a sudden... but I think I dig the red. I like cherry Specials too... so I'm wrong.
I have to admit, i liked the tones better than expected.
I actually dig the red one more than the yellow. The yellow is cool in its own ways. I’m just really more keen on the sinister look of that red.
I apologize for letting so many down yesterday. I was celebrating my parent’s 60th anniversary with family. I’m back today.
hopefully you got your parents a nice guitar for their anniversary:) congrats to them
I was wondering,...

You're late
That's one killer fret board !!!!
love the black binding
The Cherry looks good . But the black binding on the TV yellow really makes it pop.
Mmmmm yes. Perfect grain through on that paint choice
Review the red one too
TV Yellow all day. I usually like a red guitar but the yellow pops more.
I have a set of Wilde L500s (XL & R) sitting in a drawer. I’ve been waiting for something to catch my eye to drop them into. These TV yellow 50s hogtops have my attention
It’s an old Studio, with binding. Or a carved top Special, with body binding.
tv yellow for the win.
Hey,... I am here.
Hello from Alaska.
Mine finally came in today so it's funny timing
I go with the yellow. The red one looks too much like a Les Paul......(shuddering) studio. This has got some great gritty-but-clean tones to it. Kinda like a Telecaster. And again, your playing - getting better each demo!
I prefer the custom with all maghogany in black or white. But I give Gibson credit for switching it up.
Nice sound, color nice too, black binding mmmmhh, not sure, something I didn´t realize from the video: it is coming with long tenon joint?, thanks.....
I actually think it would look better without any binding.
Dude I just love your passion. This channel is nails!!! Keep em coming
That is a keeper!
No apologies needed my friend, I like maple for darker pickups and mahogany for brighter pickups..
I was expecting an emergency Tak Epiphone video. I guess it is already ordered and on the way
Sounds great!
The TV yellow is nice

Here’s a good model with black binding m.ruclips.net/video/jua7CKK5HtU/видео.html
Thanks for the video.
There is a Norlin vibe in the air!
TV yellow 💛
I like them both but the cherry color speaks to me
Even the same model of pickup, especially custombuckers can have a night and day sound difference, I'd factor that before the wood.
Would be cool to see CS versions w/ maple and hog tops all aniline-dyed front and back. The hog would just be cool that it was all the same color. Then in maple top you could see how woods show the color differently.
That looks so great, they should supply them with sugarbuckers
i love this one ! best review on this guitar

LP has more variety than other gits.

What are you using for dirty tones? It sounds harsh.
Thanks for another great show Trog stay safe and well God Bless peace
Reminds me of Randy Rhodes 🤘🏼
If this is released as is but with black covered P-90's, I'm in.
Now that TV Yellow is THE coolest thing Gibson has done in a looonnnggg time
I really like that tbh. Something different for once from Gibson. Btw vote tomorrow! For Trump preferably 😊.
Dang! Looked like chainsaw marks on that black neck binding on the TV Yellow LP.
Sweet, all hog is the sound of rock n roll
Sounds awesome
Beautiful guitar. Do they offer that with p-90s? If so, it might be time to sell off a few other guitars.
Cherry is... the bomb. Get it?
Love the tv yellow not so much the red one. The black binding is ok but that red one WOW cream plastics would’ve been better not a fan of the tv yellow.
