Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers Remastered Concept

- I'm back!
This concept happened somewhat by accident. I was in the process of updating some old mockups. While looking at my original pitch mockups for Ducktales Remastered, I came across an old revamp of Chip & Dale on the NES back in 2014. Given that I had to isolate all the elements to apply the changes, I suddenly had workable game assets and some extra time on my hands. Things just snowballed from there.
One thing I did want to address from the original was to properly show the scale of things. The NES game was all over the place (mouse sized rhinos for example.) So making sure the big robot dogs from the first level where actually appropriately imposing was important. The game also implied you travel to locations by plane, but you never got to see it.
While the mockup is scaled for modern systems, I've composed the music and sound effects using SNES limitations to give it that old Capcom home-console flair.

Would be amusing if the robot dog were a boss and to defeat it you would have to feed it by throwing objects in its mouth until it overloads and breaks down.
Capcom hire this guy already.
The originals won't disappear anywhere, but remastering a whole buttload of classic games like this wouldn't be bad. DuckTales, Rescue Rangers, Zelda, Contra, World of Illusion, Rock 'n' Roll Racing, Ninja Gaiden, and who knows what. So many gems that could bring new generations of gamers into our golden days.
Ducktales was already done, but woukd be nice to see the others

I legit was looking at this old NES cartridge yesterday and reminiscing on my younger years spending _hours_ on this game at my grandma's house. I would LOVE to see a remaster on modern console

@@fizzicleyoutube I think I saw one of those at a Chinese shop once. Either that or it was something else. Regardless, before buying, I have to test something out and found out some games don't work well but once again Famicom/NES games work so well, while some got glitchy like "Super Mickey Bros" or "Contra Mario" and such. So I didn't buy the thing. And some looks like a hybrid of PSVita and Switch but made of cheap plastic🤣

My only complaint is that you have to have Chip huffing and puffing when he's lifting up the apple under strain. Other than that great work.

I've never played the Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers game (probably since the NES was already way out of use by the time I was even born), but I enjoyed the show.
This is really good. Honestly outside of seeing someone do something like this I'd also liked to see someone tackle upping the NES version into a what if Arcade game using the CPS-1 that in some other reality the NES version was a port of.
This game brings back memories...this and Darkwing Duck, Duck Tales, and Talespin... Good ol days=)

I saw this years ago on Pixeljoint back when you put it on there. I've been a huge fan of yours since I saw your Colossal Katamari work on there almost two decades ago now, I always loved seeing a new entry to your gallery. This coming up on my recommended was a nice blast from the past for me (in more ways than one, Chip n Dale was a great game on the NES too). I'm glad to see you're still at it snake, seeing this makes me miss the old days of Pixeljoint and Pixelation.
Man this makes me feel like dusting off graphicsgale and pixelling again for the first time in about a decade. I was never anywhere near as good as you, but I always hoped I might get there one day... I didn't though haha.
Know what's funny... in my mind's eye (with nostalgia glasses on), this is absolutely what 8 year old me saw when playing the original NES game. Well done.

Nice new details! Kept what was great and improved upon it while keeping it's essence. Shows that you actually respect the source material. I like how he moved slower when picking up the apple too.
Looks good and it's one of my favorite platformers, only thing I'd change mechanics wise is to update the flower pickups into something useful, maybe a hundred counting as a 1up? Or maybe needing them to go to the bonus stages, that way we can skip em if we don't want to bother.

I remember renting the original at a gas station. It was very fun. I played it with my sister. This would be awesome remastered.
Definitely faithful a Capcom platformer of the early 90s. It's funny how in the NES version, Chip and Dale looked like the size of a human finger. Here they have a more realistic scale. Hope we get to see cute characters like Foxglove the Bat.

Let's hope it's not the only CAPCOM-Disney videogame that they remaster, not only because of an indie like you but also because of what Wayforward was doing with their cancelled Quackshot after the success of Duck Tales.
