If they could bring back the 2k19 controls, and keep 2k23's combos, blocks, and dodges, that'd be perfect controls for me. Imo 2k19 had the smoothest gameplay. The new grab controls get confusing sometimes, but that's just me.

The quick grapple mechanic should never have been removed. It was a necessary gameplay piece. Having to lock up every time for moves is stupid and ridiculous. Its not accurate to actual wrestling. Its interrupts gameplay flow. It slows down matches and forces players to wrestle particular ways.

I don't know if you ever played svr but it's the same holding a r1 trigger plus the circle it's literally old controls but new players don't get it I understand tho I haven't played since wwe2k14
I hear you. I probably would have beaten the 1st and 3rd showcase matches in full had the hammer throw actually worked for me. I mean, it works just fine for me in standard matches, both play mode and universe, but showcase it acts as just an Irish wip and not a hammer throw to the outside.
The controls/matches definitely feel smoother, overall I really like this year's game, my only small complaint is not being able to use the soundtrack songs as caw themes but that's just a small issue
Add B->Y & O->triangle for light & heavy grapples along with rope grapples, apron grapples, and more options for moves in corner grapples. While we’re at it, they should add new weapons and diving announce table moves. Announce tables can be so much more fun than they are right now.
You never mentioned being able to pick people up with grab and the right thumb stick up. I have using the taunt to pick people up most of the time so happy when I found this in another video.
Thank-you so much for this video. I recently got back into playing video games after a 20 year hiatus. The last WWF game I played was for NES and the controls are much harder for me to learn now. I have been playing as Hulk Hogan. When the opponent is outside of the ring and Hulk is inside of the ring, I cannot figure out how to climb the ropes to jump out of the ring toward the opponent. I approach the ropes and Hulk climbs the second one but he only faces the inside of the ring and I can't figure out how to have Hulk face the outside of the ring to jump toward the opponent out of the ring.

The tutorial doesn't even go this in depth so I'm here for the first time sense SVR 2010 so this is all new to me. I'm in the ring playing like I never made it out the performance center 😂
I'm really struggling with breaking the grapples and combos. I got the game yesterday but I'm playing showcase for the first time and the Ai just reverses everything and when I try and guess I just never get it right so I never complete the objective. I'd rather just have WWE2K19 controls with these graphics. Why did they feel the need to complicate the controls even more?
Literally couldn't agree more...everything else with the game seems to be a big step up, aside from general gameplay and the fact that they've took away moveset slots due to the stupid controls limiting the overall variety...😑
It what be nice if they added all controls types from wwe 2k13 to 2k22 where anyone who likes their preferred controls can have them but online its stays as the default controls but that probably would be a lot of work on their part.
Having a blast with the game already, a step in the right direction but one thing I'm having trouble figuring out is how do you do AI vs. AI? It doesn't let me not be a player in a match. Wanted to see how AI's behave with each other with the new AI sliders but idk if I'm missing something but how do I do AI vs. AI this year? Hope it's not removed..
Just the finished the Showcase mode and My god…. It was difficult as hell… what really got me most of the time was the new pin system, wish they just sticked with the Timed Pin where the bar doesn’t move aka the 2K22 Timed pin system

Okay, so...as someone coming from 2k19, did they basically take the short and long press of X and separate it into two buttons? So now X is light strikes and A is heavy strikes? I really don't understand the benefit of doing this, personally.
@@Smacktalks I see, but I kind of hate the combo stuff. I'm not a fighting game guy. Can I comfortably play this game without having to learn combos for every single wrestler I want to play as?
You can also do attacks from the second rope by just walking up to a turnbuckle and just keep pushing up against it and your wrestler should hoist themselves up to the second rope for a less deadly and high up corner buckle move. Sorry if this was a poor explanation haha
@smacktalks I wish they added moves to make the matches feel like tv and less work on the simple button mechanics. Every year they retool the mechanics when they're not really an issue.
