  • Families of patients at Hacienda Healthcare are looking to get care somewhere other than Hacienda. Few centers offer the level of care patients in a vegetative state may need for the price most people can afford.

Hacienda needs to offer cellular surveillance cameras for each of the patients so the families can check in 24-7 through their cell phones or online to be able reassure them and build back trust. The perpetrator was obviously fired and to move forward Hacienda needs to operate VERY openly and honestly in a way that the families now and in the future feel like the facility is looking out for their safety and is hiding NOTHING and being VERY transparent otherwise this horrific tragedy will follow them forever.

I work for SAVA long term care. Administration complains about what a burden we are to keep, but brag about taking home +$100,000/year each!

That place needs to be shut down, or put under new better management. Have better security there at all times, better checks on workers, cameras in all areas, and to not take more patients then they have workers to handle.
Change laws about how these places are run if you want real change.

This entire situation is incredibly heartbreaking for the individuals and there families...i see so many commenting on how the families should care for there loved ones at home..while that would be ideal sometimes it's more complicated..I care for adults with a wide variety of mental and physical disabilities my company has around 20 homes that house 2-3 individuals per home and my main house the family is involved with the care ..but most of the time these individuals need almost 24/7 supervision and care and one on one attention..like the victim she needed 15 min bed checks ..the amount of time and care for some would consume the family they would be unable to work to provide and do daily needed activities .. it's also very draining mentally to watch your loved ones struggle thru seizures or eating ect..with that being said ..some could be cared for at home by the families but for some it's not that simple ...either way special needs or not these families put there trust in a facility to care for there loved ones and for someone to be able to break that level of trust is sickening

Now she is no where near as disabled as these patients, but she still needs a lot of care. Thank God I have other family members who support me. Also, I have my wonderful husband helping me with her. It really is a group effort. There’s just no way I could do it on my own. This woman in the video is a single mom, she can’t care for her on her own. She has to work!

Evelyn Lebron have you ever taken care of someone that can’t do anything for themselves? It’s very difficult. You can’t have your own life. You are house bound 24/7. It’s very difficult to leave the house with the patient. I took care of someone in a vegetated state it’s a lot of work. It’s not like any babysitter can come and help. The person Has to be trained and that is expensive.
