  • Learn how to turn a man's #blazer or suit into a blazer to fit a woman! I have found so many awesome blazers in the men's section of thrift stores, but men don't have our curves and their shoulders are normally broader. In today's #thriftupcycle you'll learn how to make those shoulders fit and how to take it in on the side. And the great thing about is that you won't have to worry about the sleeves being too short.

I didn't think I could do it before I tried either. If you have a way to buy a blazer for really cheap and get one for free that someone doesn't want anymore, that will help you not worry so much about messing up.

I ❤️ doing a men’s wool blazer (40) as my winter coat. I take the middle back in that makes the jacket and sleeves hit just right on me but still a bit oversized. I also add elastic to cinch in the waist with or without the use of a belt. I colorful scarf and leather gloves, I’m always ask where did I get it!

Great job. Gonna try to thrift a men's wool blazer and try this. Recently i found a stash of remnants in my basement thrifted about 20 years ago and found 3 full jackets in pieces that i remade. They turned out amazing (exceptfor linings, whicjh i need a lotmire practice with, good thing they dont show 😊). I dont know how to upload pictures for you, or i would. These pieces are so cute, and i enjoyed every minute of them. I also took a dress that i never wore that was too big and made a short suit out of it. The shorts are a little too short fir me and i will have to wear tights underneath them. Just hope i have the guts to wear them ( 68 years old and these are very young looking). But the suit is adorable! Today, i started working on a pair of jean like pants from a pattern, but im having problems understanding the pocket construction and ive been stopped cold. Hopefully it will get through to me on how to construct. Your videos have inspired me tremendously and kept me from being bored in retirement. Just wish i had occasion to wear them all😊.

Yes!!! - too late for me, I have pulled apart a man's jacket made from Harris Tweed with complicated inside tailoring and.... I cut too much off the sleeves. I've kept it, still all in pieces, thinking that there must be a way to put it together. The material is too good not to try. Next time I will follow these steps. I just love my jacket, the fabric is fascinating. Men get such good fabrics and tailoring.

For a future project, I would love it if you did a thrift flip on an old faux fur coat. I recently bought one that fits around my hips but is far to big on my upper body and shoulders. (Gotta love that body and size diversity in vintage clothing...)
When I wear it looks like I am going to a masqurade as a sterotypical pimp, insulting just about everyone.

I'm busty so I like a roomy coat. This jacket definitely is. The only thing I'm not happy with is how low the armscye comes. Ugh. I don't think there's anyway to fix that so I'll just have to deal. Anyway, I think I can get away with shortening the sleeves and nipping in the waist a bit. Thanks for the inspiration.

Thank you for this video! My husband is about to retire from the Air Force and he has extra blues uniforms. My daughter wants me to take his blazer part of the uniform and make it smaller to fit her. She has also requested to cut the bottom of the blazer at her waist and with the fabric of the blazer turn it into a peplum. Like a riding coat. IDK how I’m gonna do that. Can you make a video to help me out?
