    Albéric MAGNARD, un géant méconnu de la musique française, grand symphoniste (symphonie N°4) et prodigieux chambriste (quatuor à cordes). Son Chant funèbre à la mémoire de son père me bouleverse. Une interprétation somptueuse par Michel Plasson en 1983 avec le magnifique Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse. Merci Rodders pour cette vidéo.
    A little-known giant of french music, a great symphonist (Symphony No. 4) and a prodigious chamber musician (string quartet). His funeral song in memory of his father overwhelms me. A sumptuous interpretation by Michel Plasson in 1983 with the magnificent Orchestra of the Capitole from Toulouse. Thanks Rodders for this video.

    Influenced by Cesar Franck, Magnard is probably more famous for his death than for his compositions. In 1914, he was killed by German soldiers while defending his property. This is a moving paean, expertly orchestrated. Thanks for the upload.
