Accuracy of names - wonder if incorrect naming might skew the child's growth. You never know how kids learn and absorb pragmatically in that age. What happens if it all falls down to getting his/her name right (and correctly understood) that triggers a chain reaction of where the child ends up. I mean, in the old days, Devratt was called Bhism after his vow, Dashanand got called Ravan due to his voice... Meghnaad too, due to the moment when he was born. Yuddhistr because his kingly father wanted him to remain balanced in battle situations (intentions) - names are certainly more important than we realise!
Good one from Nityanand Misra. You can always expect useful information from him which can save you from kalyug's illusion and rampant misinformation. It's not easy to find people who are well versed in Sanskrit and at the same time an IIM grad and equally contemporary.
Namasthe. Beautiful explanation on how not to give names to children. I personally believe no name should be given... which doesn't have meaning. My name means True hearted.
All of my NRI cousins have named their boys name either combination of Vivan, Viaan, Vihaan Riaan, Reyaan, Hrehaan. I dnt understand why, perhaps the names are easier to be spoken by the gora saab.
No even the Goras laugh at these names. They are in no way easy for them. Out idiots do not have knowledge of their own languages properly or even literature. So they look up shit online or some weird ass celebrities kid and come up with these names. Honestly, to me, they sound horrible. Just the other day, I was telling a friend how horrible these names sound. I would never name my kid from a random internet page.
He is a scholar indeed and learnt somd interesting facts. But if you are thinking of checking the meaning of your child, be informed he charges Rs.2000.
There should be a sankrith names and meanings in english that should be released every year updating and creating with new names in sanskrith. Every one wants a Unique name and many are getting it wrong due to lack of information.
Very well put! It’s the lure of exotic sounding names that takes people to these websites… And the problem lies in Muslim names too! So many out of context names, or names that become antonyms when conjugated with fathers’ or surname!
And UPSC-CSIR is making Hindi Translation of exam's paper by translating from google translator. They do change the meaning of statement by translating from google. That's one reason behind loss of Hindi medium students in UPSC results.
For most modern hindusnow, it is about exotic sounding rare name which will go well internationally too. Language and meaning is irrelevant. Any case , when one is not rooted in culture, his or her ability to comprehend the rich beauty of sanskrit words is zilch. Incidentally , on Tamil Nadu there is a trend to use either Tamil translation of sanskrit word, or pure tamil words to establish Tamil supremacy. On a different note, I won't be surprised if a post millennial generation soon asserts that choice of name must be with the nameholder and not the parents, and exercise the choice as soon as they start using mobile phone say at the age of 3 or 4, given their intelligence and techsaviness 😀
A small additional note - some names need to be avoided. Even though the words exist in Sanskrit, the meanings are not desirable. The words may sound attractive for a person with no Sanskrit background. For ex, Mehala for boy's name, which means 'smell of the urine' and Mehana for girl's name, which could mean 'urinary duct'. Even the alternate meanings are related to urine only. When some people come for names to me, I caution them abundantly. Interestingly they asked about the popular names 'Meghana' or "Mekhana'' and I said that those words don't exist. Then they asked 'how about Mehana?'. I said 'well the word exists, but you don't want to name as such, as the meaning is quite repulsive and has to do with urine.' Well some names can be built from 'ekAkShara kosha', but that calls for knowledge of Sanskrit grammar rules.
Great initiative. People hate me for suggesting their favourite names are not proper. Atiksha however it can be generated ati upasarga and ksha. It can mean a lot of things. Please let me know why it cant be. Thank you in any case.

There is no substitute for knowing Sanskrit with a background in Sanskrit literature (Ramayana, Mahabharatha, Kalidasa etc). Or having a Kula Brihaspathi well verse in the Vedas.
Great presentation Nityananda Misra ji. Regarding the name Aveer, there is a similar sounding name Abir (আবিৰ) which is popular among Assamese and Bengali communities. The meaning is pleasant smell, fragrance etc. Searches on Google indicate it has Arabic origin. There is one more word Abeer (আবীৰ) meaning red coloured powder / Gulal used in Holi.
Yudhisthira means the one who is sthir = unperturbed in situation of Yudha=war (it could be real war with weapons or it could be psychological war).. Bhim means big in size .. Arjun means whose eyes are firm on the target... Sahadev means the person who has good capacity to bear the pain could be physical or psychological ... Nakul means handsome... correct me if I am wrong

You are right. They just want to be fancypants
Severe inferiority complex it seems. How pathetic
Those are stupid names but you can't blame a parent picking an easily pronounced name when living outside of India.
There are many people from Asia/East Asia who have a separate 'English/Western' name so as to avoid mispronunciation/confusion of their names.
He is a scholar indeed and learnt somd interesting facts. But if you are thinking of checking the meaning of your child, be informed he charges Rs.2000.
Why shouldn’t anyone charge for their knowledge. We are just used to free stuff .
There should be a sankrith names and meanings in english that should be released every year updating and creating with new names in sanskrith.
Every one wants a Unique name and many are getting it wrong due to lack of information.

It’s the lure of exotic sounding names that takes people to these websites…
And the problem lies in Muslim names too!

Thanks for giving soo much of clarity on this
For most modern hindusnow, it is about exotic sounding rare name which will go well internationally too.
Congratulations, fr bringing forth this awakening.
The website is paid to strategically promote Islamic name among modern Hindus . Thanks for sharing and imparting such knowledge .

I am glad that I being a 14year old ICSE student- I found proper logical Indian History channels like #ProjectShivoham #RajivMalhotra #TheFestivalofBharat #AbhijitChadva #SangamTalks #CittiMedia #IHAR first, - & as a result I saved myself from getting brainwashed by our school History books & many illogical & misinformed people on the internet & came to know about the true Indian History. Thanks a lot to all the RUclips channels which helped me in gaining knowledge.

आजकल नये और अलग नाम के उद्देश्य से ऊट-पटांग, अर्थहीन और विदेशी मूर्खतापूर्ण नामों का अधिकाधिक प्रचलन है ।
Nothing to say just a big thank you sir for opening people's eye

One for family

A very nice and enjoyable one. Needs lot of research as well. Small observation. Yes airA would not mean Sarasvati. But irA can mean speech or goddess of speech, Sarasvati.
A friend of mine changed his daughter's name from Aira to Ira after learning Aira means river in Arabic. Aira is Arabic indeed.
I think to save todays india first step is to become an established author, then an influencer.
