    BTW the antioxidant im referring to at the end of the video is retinol! you can use retinoids on the body, just be super careful about scheduling, and take them out of your routine 1-2 weeks before waxing ; )

    very needed video! please do more in-depth explanation on acids and if you can, a sensitive-skin targeted waxing video/routine. whilst i have a high pain tolerance in most places, i have sensitive skin susceptible to even certain gentle chemicals burning me.
    also, how do you psych yourself up to do your own brazilian? i've attempted it on myself (absolutely failed and hurt so bad even with exfoliation), and had it done a few times with an aesthetician and the pain experience was significantly different.

    • @abetweene
      @abetweene  2 года назад +7

      sure, thatd be a great idea.
      And absolutely! Despite me knowing thats its really not as bad as im expecting, i still procrastinate sometimes. having an aesthetician do it is always top-tier because remember they do this all day long! its the most popular service and they’re very experienced were as when doing it yourself, you hesitate & often tense up. not to mention another person is going to be able to reach certain areas easier than you giving them more wrist mobility where you may not so if you don’t pull at the right angle or don’t hold the skin tight enough, you can be inflicting more pain on yourself. u may also possibly take larger sections where they’re taking smaller sections….the list goes on! so if you’re finding that you have a better experience going to a professional, there’s nothing wrong with continuing to do so if that’s best for u. in fact, i encourage it.

    Do you think exfoliating everyday is bad? Like for instance using a exfoliating rag everyday and/ or using a salicylic acid body wash on a daily basis? I’m not sure if me exfoliating too often before , while and after the hair grows out causes my ingrowns. I love your content I learn so much!!

    • @abetweene
      @abetweene  2 года назад +9

      yes, its not a good idea. a washcloth is fine but a textured rag rough enough to manually remove dead skin is too much for daily use. same for aha & bha. anything in excess can become bad for you. by not giving your skin time to rest & recover, u cause non-stop irritation.

    Yes i have a question; isn´t where you have plugged the hair out basically a tiny open wound in the skin? I´ve always thought it would be better to not put any product on directly after sugaring. Only hours later or the next day so the pore can close and won´t be clogged immediately with product. That always made the most sense to me, what do you think about that? 😅

    • @abetweene
      @abetweene  2 года назад +3

      applying a soothing agent or moisturizer immediately after is fine. especially since you’ve stripped it of its natural oils and disrupted the microbiome. this is why i keep my moisturizer simple by just using oil (and avoid lotions or creams with added fragrance and possible irritants). the glands within the follicle producing sebum need that tunnel to remain open, so it can escape & reach the surface, so the pore doesnt close. any wound that may be sustained would be within the follicle and not to the surface of the skin. basically you’re not creating an opening that wasn’t already there.

    What about for just shaving? Do the steps apply? But in what order/what days do you do what? I've tried traditional and sugar waxing, but both have really burned and irritated my skin, so I can only do shaving. I wash with a textured scrubby shower glove and ontop of that, I sometimes use an AHA scrub a day or two before shaving. Should I be using an AHA & BHA before shaving or a day or two after? Right after shaving, is it best to apply something hydrating like a toner on damp skin, then a moisturizing cream/lotion?

    • @abetweene
      @abetweene  10 месяцев назад

      No, dont use an aha/bha before you shave. it makes the skin more sensitive and dragging a razor across the skin even if it doesnt feel like it does irritate it, so u wanna let it rest for 1-3 days before using actives. How often do you shave? Yes, a hydrating toner + moisturizer would be great post shaving!

    • @Adelehalsall
      @Adelehalsall 2 года назад +1

      My guess would be that the technique wasn’t right, or that your exfoliation/hydration routine wasn’t routine enough. With sugaring, I’ve found that firmer wax pulls my hair out much more efficiently, instead of just breaking them off, so I don’t even bother heating it up now! Just spread on and flick off. :)

  • @aroisnice
    @aroisnice Год назад +1

    I have a question, when you do get ingrown hair do you just exfoliate? or do you break the skin to free the hair? which would be better, to use chemical or physical exfoliant?
    I have done sugaring once on my legs, and thanks to your tips it went great. but the hair that's growing is wayyy too fine to even 'break' my own skin and come out
    thanks! you're the best!

    • @abetweene
      @abetweene  Год назад +2

      depends on the ingrown. if i can just see the hair under dry dead skin i may just exfoliate, or usually ill remove the hair with tweezers, especially if its a whitehead or blackhead type, then put on a hydrocolloid patch over the wound.

  • @ChelseaWiafe

    so we shouldn’t use both a topicals toner and bha/aha lotion together? is it better to alternate ? and doesn’t shea butter clog pores ? also on days of physical exfoliating can you still use chemical exfoliant after ?

    • @abetweene
      @abetweene  Год назад +1

      are you asking if you should use a toner and lotion both containing AHA/BHA together? if so, no, you can pick either or.
      No, I would not recommend using a physical and chemical exfoliator in the same day; pick one or the other and give your skin rest periods in between.
      Shea butter can be comedogenic for some people so it’s up to you whether you’d like to use it. my face is acne-prone and my body is dry but I have no issues using it all over.

    • @abetweene

      I would advise against it because photo sensitivity is a prominent side effect. That’s why you have to wear sunscreen diligently. the laser is quite literally light, and you definitely can’t wear sun protection during the procedure, so u could burn if not careful. feel free to talk to your aesthetician though because they may just have you go off certain products a couple of weeks before your treatment. since I don’t know your regimen, I can’t say for sure, but they can give u their recommendations based on specifics.
