Nice video! I should have seen this video before I went to BKK last week! I could have exchange my money on the airport rail link floor. No wonder why the queues there are long when I arrived.
Me and my woman are going to BKK for the first time next month :) We fly in from the USA into BKK by 10 am on a Saturday. I have a tight flight to make as I purchased my tickets separately without knowing you need to recheck in as I am flying into Trat airport that same day to head to Koh Kut. My question to you is will the immigration queue be long? Any help is appreciated :)
Hi.. great video with lots of info. I am from India holding E-VOA..so I have to proceed directly to immigration with passport, arrival card and printed E-VOA? Priority lane for infants as well ???
if you have a VOA you can proceed directly to immigration. Priority lane is for infants as well, and it is in the middle between both immigration areas.
If you want a taxi to Pattaya or elsewhere go down to the ground floor where it says "Public Taxis". The fares to destinations are shown. Bt1,500 to Pattaya. You pay the dispatcher who gives you a ticket which gives you a number to complain if the driver misbehaves. I have never had any trouble at all.
Virtually every private taxi only charges 1.1-1.2k baht to get to pattaya, and ~1k to return. e.g. Mr T taxi, Nams Taxi, etc, just email them your flight details and wait for confirmation. . Im going to try the Bellbus this time, think it was about 350baht or so.
I have my first ever flight to here this week from the UK. You mention arrival card, do they give them to you on the plane? I'm flying business class with emirates and intend on using the meet and greet service and have the buggy take me to priority. So all I need is to get and fill out a card inflight then give the card to the immigration agent right? Do I have to ask a flight attendant for the card?
Hi not sure why you would need the meet and greed service including buggy. Emirates business class already means you can use the fast track immigration. The only difference is that you have to walk. The arrival and departure cards should be handed out on the plane. If you feel they have forgotten to give it to you just ask. Don't forget that you should also already complete the departure card with your planned information for leaving the country. At least I was asked that on a occasion at the immigration counter and now do that automatically. If you have any more questions just ask 😊
No problem at all. I once was new to that airport and had all the questions on my mind. And now I share what I found out to make it easier for others 😊
Hi, exchange it in Thailand. But don't change it in the Exchange booths in the arrival hall. Either downstairs as shown in my video or in any Bank branch. Most shopping centre have at least one bank branch that is open on Saturday and Sunday. Do bring your passport when changing money in a bank.
There are quite a few exchange booths at the railway ticket level and they all give about the same rates as each other. , most people queue up at superrich and form a large queue whilst the others are left alone, I for the sake of a couple of bahts, and I mean a couple, use value+ or one of the others without a queue. What appears to be a big difference on the face of it is not so big as to warrant a big wait. You are not going to be exchanging thousands of pounds or dollars.
Thanks for your video. I arrive in Thailand in August to Pattaya but my flight arrives after midnight- I was thinking of sleeping at the airport and then proceed the following day on the public Pattaya Bus, is it possible to sleep at the airport waiting area? If so, where exactly would you recommend?
I am not sure why you would wait until next day to go to Pattaya? You can go there by Taxi direct from the airport. Should be around 900 Baht (at least last time i took one) and takes about 1 1/2 hours depending on where you go in Pattaya. If you want to sleep I would recommend the Basement area. Thats the level where the train station is. You will find plenty of seating there, some shops so you dont feel too alone but it is most quiet.
Great video! You just gained a new subscriber!👍 I will definitely use this information on my trip to Bangkok! But I do have a question, If I use an ATM at the airport, what would be the reason I would need to visit an exchange? I've never traveled outside of my country so that may be a stupid question lol
Hi. Thanks for your support. Much appreciated. On your question: there is an automatic fee of at least 160 baht per transaction at every ATM. Plus any applicable currency conversion by your bank. That's why many people prefer to bring cash and get no fees exchange at the counters. But if so you should look for the best deals.
Thanks for the video! I'm going to Thailand in a couple of weeks so it was very useful. Just a question I didn't see in the video, where is the counter where you have to show your yellow fever cardboard? Some people told me I have to show it in one counter before leaving or I won't be able to leave the airport, and will have to come back to that counter. Is that right? The counter is before the customs?
Hi, The counter is before immigration. in the big florr just before the Indians and Chinese apply for Visa on arrival. what country are you from? Because not everyone has to have yellow fever vaccination.
@@FlightBlog I am from Argentina, and yes, we need the certificate. Ok, is before inmigration then. I suppose it has a big signal, I mean, I can't miss it, right?
The health check is directly before the visa on arrival. There is a big sign overhead the the path you are walking. The office was just of the path. There were two counters. One was clearly signed for "South America".
hi i have a question: in august i will fly from vienna to perth via bangkok and have a 2 hour layover. do i need to get through any of that or can i just go directly to my new gate? thanks a lot
Hi, If you are booked on the same ticket just follow the signs for transfer and you only have to go through security check and will skip everything else. If on separate tickets you need to go through all of this.
Arrive by plane or car? If you arrive by plane I have experienced it once that all my baggage was scanned by customs. They didn’t care about a little bit of excess cigarettes and alcohol. Probably were just looking for drugs.
Never tried grab in Bangkok. I used Grab in Manila and it is OK if you go to the Grab stand in Manila. Be careful as sometimes drivers are changing the quoted price to make more money.
Very helpful video Some other sources recommend the SuperRich and ValuePlus exchange booths a little bit further into the train station--do you know if their rates are as good or better than that Kasikorn booth? Also, if I want to take a regular taxi to Pattaya, is there just one taxi kiosk that handles all regular public taxis, no matter the destination? Thanks.
Hi James, There is just one Taxi kiosk serving all of them no matter the destination. There are vending machines who are supposed to give you a ticket with the approximate fare. But as so often it is not working as intended. As soon as you are in the cab you will be asked for a higher price. I use pre-booked taxi services. It is a little bit more expensive but the experience and the better maintained cars are worth it. I can't say anything on the SuperRich and ValuePlus booths as I myself have never used them. I wont be back before May next year so can't check it for you :(
Thanks for your reply. I have pre-booked a car before, but I don't want to this time because I will be arriving about 7:00 AM and want to kill some time in the airport (eat breakfast, get sim card, change money etc.) before leaving because I don't want to get to Pattaya too early. Check-in time at my hotel is 2:00 PM--I''d rather kill time in the airport than the hotel lobby.
Did you ask your hotel if they have luggage storage available? If so you can drop your things and head out before check-in. Saves you the time of hanging around at the airport. If you want to eat I recommend the staff restaurant on 1st floor. It is at the very end. You buy coupons at the entrance and then exchange them for food and drinks at the stalls. Leftover vouchers can be changed back later.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm not going until November, so I'm still finalizing my plans. I'm pretty sure I could leave my luggage at the hotel for a few hours if I'm too early.
The question is what is your final destination and what do you value more. I personally would try to get to my final destination as soon as possible. Enjoy your holiday in the sun!
The color of your subtitle is very difficult to read. Sometimes it got overlapped with other running titles making it even more difficult to be read. If you change it to yellow instead of white then might be better

Hi Moses. There are two places in the airport that gives the same rate as in the city as they are technically no longer within the airport. One I am showing in the video and they other is further down in train station and is a Superrich location.
darren millar Everything is clearly signposted in English and Thai , such as which baggage belt your flight is using , so it really is quite easy to find your way around.
Yes. For both visa and customs. For visa counter follow the "visa on arrival sign". The counter is just before you go up to immigration check. For custom its is after you received your baggage.
This may be a dumb question but is it recommended to exchange currency first before getting a Thai sim card or will they allow me to purchase one using USD or credit card without any issues? Seems like a hassle to go exchange currency and then go all of the way back to the mobile phone kiosk. Thanks for the help!
Hi, There is no such thing as a dumb question when it comes to Thailand. :) You can solve this in two ways: 1. Use a prepaid debit card like Revolut for payment as credit card or taking out cash at an ATM. You can top up the card within the phone app and then use it online or in store or at an ATM. There are no fees on the free account for up to 200 Euros taken from ATMS per month and 6.000 Euros for card transactions online or in store. I use it myself as you always get the interbank rate. Not sure if RUclips allows but my referred link would be revolut.com/r/sandropoug in caase you would go for this one. 2. Some mobile phone companies (DTAC for example) allow you to order and pay the SIM card online on their website. You can then pick it up at the counter.
Do u think that I Can go through of that priority checkpoint even If I have nothing? I have self transfer for my next connection flight and no much time.
No. You need an invitation. The immigration person will check this. If you have no luggage to receive and check-in again use the normal transfer security desks. With luggage you need to enter via the normal immigration channels
Yes, Its a huge problem. You can go to immigration and apply for a 7 day extension. If you do not extend your visa exemption in your passport you could be arrested and deported. If you want to stay longer than the possible 37 days (30 day + 7 day extension to be applied) you need to leave to another country and apply for a tourist visa. you can do that in any neighbour country (Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia etc pp) No need to fly back to the USA for that
Yes, when you try to leave, they will ban you from Thailand for 1 year and charge you for every day you overstay. If police in Thailand catch your overstay outside of the airport, the penalties are much worse than inside. The work-around for this, as mentioned, is to visit a neighboring country and having your passport stamped, then coming back to Thailand getting it stamped for the +30 days again.
