HELLO 2013! For this being my last video recorded in 2012 and my first video dropped of 2013 I wanted to have a really strong message. And I want this message to go out to all the aspiring choreographers and artists who face conflict with people who try to degrade your art-and my advice to you is really cheesy but also really true---by saying nothing and continuing to progress wins you the battle, the war, and anything else that may come along-so when something irritated me recently-I said nothing and went straight to creating this. So...thank you for the inspiration.
I choreographed to this song because even though I was irritated ---it was just irritation and nothing more---and I feel like what drake is doing in this song is just venting to Aaliyah. Even though what drake is saying is very aggressive the flow of her voice and the beat is calming and soothing-almost as an ear to listen to drakes troubles. The ending where I let the beat ride and I just listen-is me listening to Aaliyah (or anyone in my life) that is there to calm me down and let me know they are there for me and will be there to guide me through my irriation.
Setting Concept: This video takes place at my dad's work---he now works the late shift in downtown Chicago as a trader---my favorite days as a kid were always going to work with DAD :)---so i took some inspiration from real life when I went with my dad to work on my last visit and as I was reading through some social media hate-It inspired me to choreograph in the abundant amount of space there is in the office as it was probably 12am--- and that real life experience inspired me to use that concept in this video.
Lastly I want to thank my good friend Jon Jovellanos and his production team COMMONLESS for coming out last minute durring the holidays to record this video and turn it into such a dope little production. I really appreciate it fellas...and here is their info if you are looking to use them!

Never knew what passion through dance seriously meant until I came across Ian Eastwood.
I love how he choreographs to the words and not always the beats.. it shows how much more creative he is as a choreographer and how his pieces are genius.

Ian never fails to blow me away. through his dancing i can visually see and feel all of the beats, all of the lyrics in the song. It's his power to intertwine himself and become one with the music. it truly is amazing, inspirational.

Whenever Ian choreographs he always makes me rethink the meaning of the song- what emotion the artist is truly portraying. His choreography sticks with me and makes me think back to the dance every time i listen to the song.. just Amazing.

Ian really truely has a passion for dance, by the way he moves and chooses his songs- from hard core rap, to slow songs and such he really puts not only his mind and body into it, but his soul. I love Ian Eastwood for that. He's a true dancer

Ian taught this in choreography in WOD in Chicago ! And let me tell you it was just amazing to see him dance this peice in person ! You can really see the emotion and hard work he put into this particular peice ! Phenomenal ! We all love you Ian Eastwood ! Your beyond amazing !

The way his dance moves correlate to the lyrics make this truly amazing. his emotion and moves are on point. every move was executed perfectly, one of his best pieces tbh.

one of my favourite pieces from him, not only cause the right song choice & choreography .. but because this actually reached into me & touched me. from only watching this, i felt a great aura coming from the chorey & music mashing together. so now i know what he feels & what hes trying to say through this piece
You inspire me so much. My family doesn't want me to pursue dance as a career. They want me to choose a more "stable" career, but I won't quit. I love dance to much. Thanks for your words and dances Ian. They both are flawless.

i dont really think i can explain how much i love this piece, so im just going to tell you, I love this piece, I love how it comes off as brooding leading to venting leading to kinda calming down. its like a story being played out through dance in front of my eyes
I don't know much about the art of "dance", but your pieces always make me strive to do better in what I like to do. And that's making music. You're amazing, Ian. Keep doing what you do. You're young and inspiring, it gives all of us something to look forward to.
seriously thank you Ian.I gotta let you know how much this helped me. Being the only dancer here and not being understood by anyone it often gets hard for me to still keep on trying not to just stop. I sometimes feel like there's no way I'm ever gonna achieve something as a dancer cause I dont get much opportunities to prove myself to other dancers and all those people making fun of me dont make it easier. but I wont let this stop me. this meant more to me than you can imagine, on so many levels

It takes an admirable amount of creativity, respect, and humility for a choreographer to so fully honor the music in their own work. It's literal, yes, to a degree; I love it that way. But look more closely, he's always doing more than you think.

It's amazing how much work he puts into his dancing. I appreciate the fact that he actually creates his dances using the lyrics of the song rather than just the beats of the song. You have this dancer here showing his unique skill of dancing, but you're also recognizing the message of the song as well. That's what's important and I love that he doesn't use and abuse the song, but promotes the emotions and thoughts behind it through his body movements and facial expressions. I love this video.

I don't understand people saying this isn't that good, etc. Because the "bothers me when you gotta play therapist, that sh*ts embarrassing" was REALLY EXTREMELY well executed and the way he kind of tantrum'ed on the floor after that line said a LOT. This is good. Really good.

He is extremely talented at everything he does, im always amazed by his work.
I love watching how Ian Eastwood internalizes and then shapes the lyrics. It's a kind of sign language to me. I could turn off the sound and remember the lyrics and the feelings behind them through his movement alone (and I have). It's body-rapping, an enhancement of the art. It's funny, I learned these lyrics faster/retained them longer by remembering the way he danced it. It's like a beautiful double reinforcement. As an artist, I would be honored to have Ian Eastwood translate my passion.

For the longest time, I've been having trouble completing a choreo. After watching your video, I realized why. I'm so focused on making movements that matter, and that would actually make an impression. I was so focused on whether or not this certain move would be appealing to others. Your style just spoke to me. You take risks. Your style is so unique and you aren't afraid to do something different. I need to stop thinking so much and start focusing more on the feeling. Big ups!
