Great old skidder!I'm from Georgia and when I was in high school in the 70s,they cut about 4000 acres of pine across the highway from my Mom and Dads' house. The timber company had a couple of IH S-8 skidders,a Frankin with the Detroit and an old Super M Farmall with skidder tires to skid logs. From my freshmen year until my senior I was awoken every morning to those skidders going to work.Eventually they got the job done and replanted. Now in 2023 they are harvesting the same tract again. Not the same company of course. The Franklins and the IH's were a beast back then.
That Detroit is learning what a Powermodz throttle setting is 😂 hope we get to see her pulling out some oak this season. Welding prank was classic lol thanks for the video cheers
lol, I had to do that. Pulled the first hitch just before dark, some oak but lots of dead ash - hopefully going to work well this winter.....lots to do!
Yup, lying underneath, with your arms stretched above your head feels really good, especially with the rain and slush running down your arms into your armpits...the joys of logging.
Thats a C4 with a Detroit, called the Pulp Wood Special. I had one in the 70's, its hard to get the power to ground because its so light. It was to have chains on the front end, or its just a high centered mud turtle. Its twice the machine with 16;9x30s on it. The biggest thing is with the light rear ends [ 8 bolt ] with the Detroit its a axle braker.
Ya I like your term, I use it as well for some of our other equipment, the manual calls it a cradle and I just called it that so most are on the same page. Thanks for watching and best of the season to you!
Well, the spy-game machine was just reiterating the fact that people were asking a lot of himself all at once. I don't like blocking out 80 hours straight in a row making or fixing those devices. It is time consuming and requires a lot of approval so people do not get unintentional hurt.
It always makes me laugh, but also makes me wonder where some of you people come from. My dad and my uncle bought one of these machines in 1973 and logged with it until they split the sheets in 1977, however I ran the machine off and on until about 1982. If I would have revved that thing up on a cold start like you did, I would have had a boot up my ass so far , I would have been able to taste shit in the back of my throat. You apparently don't do this for a living, or you would a little more respect for the equipment you operate, or you are basically finding for next to free. Either way it's a bad representation of what people actually do that run equipment for an occupation.
Hey thanks for watching! But I think it's important that you realize this video wasn't real time, that generator and inline coolant heater was on it for an hour, it's hard to start even warm. We idled it for about another 45 minutes...and when I touched the throttle it stuck wide open...Ive since put another return spring on it and haven't had that issue since. Not all is as it looks - not for all of us people anyway:). Have a great 2022!

You've been busy. Lookin' good!

Nothing Sounds better then a vintage 2 stroke skidder!!!
Nice to c the tires moving on the farmer.
Did you ever make the video what to look for when buying an old skidder?
Yes I put it on my powermodz youtube channel
Our little Cancar C4b had a ford senator diesel and it worked slick. Biggest prob was when sticks got up underneath and tore off the clutch line.
Ouch!

She's quiet for a jimmy! Nice ole skidder.
Spoke a little too soon haha, She isn't too awfully load but she's a two stroke alright!
Lol yup she screams

Thanks for the info! Definitely light in the back end.
Nice old machine with jimmy power, but make sure the guard goes back on.
She looks good. How much have you invested in it?
Too much as usual
@@rollingupmysleeves hahahaha. I know what you mean! Is your camp on the Quebec side?
PowerModz break in- change the oil and full send! Woohoo Screamin’ Demon Detroit!
Lol ya the throttle stuck on me...typical powermodz tho
Do you rebuild shafts etc for C4's?
driveshafts? Where are you located?
In the woods with your father. Cherish every second....
Best time ever for sure.
Botherism sounds when the throttle sticks. I had one like that several years ago changed it out and found it was frayed inside the cable casing shield
I put a other spring on the lever so it's good now. The linkage has been repaired a few times...no cable on it.
What did you do to the roof on the land cruiser?
drilled some sheet metal onto it - keeps the rain out!
Bill Cosby in a can works every time! Usually …
Best guess...top speed unloaded gravel road
Itll go faster - but gets hairy!
What rpm does that thing rip at? Sounds insane!
I think about 2500
@@rollingupmysleeves had my 4 53 and 3 53 series in my clarks set at 2850 i think the 404 timberjacks were a bit higher
You called it a cradle and where I’m from we always called it a walking beam

Those old Detroit you have to drive them like you stole them
Pretty much lol

Needs chains for traction cuz she's got too much pow'r!!
