I can tell you why the authority banned wiring water heater with socket. It's due to evaporation whereby water will change to light molecules and will enter the socket which in long run will affect the conductivity of alloy metal/copper where the socket and plug connectivity will deteriorate overtime. This is dangerous and will probably affect the conductivity which in turn a high ohm resistance will destroy your wire and eventually heated up and will melt the wire insulation and eventually a fatal short circuit will occur when wires touch each other. In other countries, technician are required to apply silicone grease to socket and plug to prevent this and install additional waterproof junction box. Due to the complexity and unavailability of such tools/products, Malaysia government just change it to socket cover with PG connector. In some countries, the PG socket is built-in with RCCB for extra protection but Malaysia manufacturers have not produced such socket yet. My 2 cents

Assalam Mr Saiful. One question. ST stipulates that 4.0mm cable is the minimum requirement. In your video between the connector and the water heater you have used a 3 core cable. Where can we find a 3 core cable with minimum 4.0mm thickness. Thank you for your video.
Salam Mr Saiful, pardon my ignorance, but would it make any difference if we do not install the connector, just pull the wiring direct from the 2 Pole 20Amp Switch to the water heater. Esp since there appears to be no fuse in the connector, just the 3 connectors. So its of little use. Thank you Sir.
Another question Sir, since the cable size from the 10mA RCCB to the water heater unit is 4.0 mm in size, would it make any difference if the cable from the 20A MCB to the RCCB is only of 4.0mm size instead of the 10.0 mm size as you had shown, considering thats the max power from the RCCB to the heater unit only requires 4.0 mm cables. Ya betul dah tu RCBO = RCCB+MCB, jadi nak pasang mcn 20a boleh atau taknak pasang mcb 20a pn boleh ikut kesesuaian / keadaan tempat dan ikut yg mana lebih mudah utk kita buat penyambungan, tq sudi singah 👍🏻

Thanks for your excellent explanation. I think so far this is the best guide for water heater installation. I did some research and I am convinced that RCBO/RCCB with higher sensitivity say 30ma (versus 10ma) would provide much better protection against risk of electrocution caused by faulty heater. This is due to much lower threshold given when residual imbalance detected and trip can happen much early. Do you concur?
@@mrsaiful7776 I found this QA section in an online article interesting. Maybe you have some insights to share with. Why is the 30mA RCCB circuit breaker more suitable for houses and home? The 30mA trip current of RCCB is determined according to the human body’s ability to withstand current and its duration. The human body can tolerate smaller currents for a long time and tolerate larger currents in a shorter period of time. According to the test results, 30mA is considered to be a suitable and safe leakage protection circuit breaker for household use. The low-sensitivity type leakage protector with leakage action current value of 50mA and above cannot be used as household leakage protection. So, can we use the 10mA RCCB in the household? The answer is: There are certain problems, it is easy to malfunction, and also affect normal use. It can be seen that the 30mA specification is the best. It can not only achieve effective preventive electric shock protection but also take into account the direct contact click protection.
Just wondering, as you have said 30mA RCCB is the preferred size. Any plausible reasons why airconds and water heaters which are power hungry be on the 100mA circuit instead of the 30mA circuit? In fact the water heater is required to have 10mA RCCB which is closer to the 30mA circuit. For that matter why not all circuits, power and lighting, be connected just to the 30mA circuit, a more sensitive and safer RCCB. Saves cost without the 100mA too.

Rumah saya dah ada lama WH tapi just guna MCB biasa so saya dah beli RCBO, nak remove MCB lama tu ganti tempat dia dgn RCBO, masalah saya mcm mana nak cari Neutral outgoing ikut wiring lama tu? Mudah je, boleh guna buzzer, testlamp, multimeter. Caranya 1. Sambungkan atau pintaskan kabel bumi dgn kabel neutral pada W/H 2. Buka semua kabel neutral pada DB sebelum tu *(offkan main suis@ buka fius TNB) 3. Test guna buzzer @ meter diantara kabel bumi dgn kabel neutral yg kita buka tadi sehingga ada bunyi buzzer @ ada bacaan pada meter *kabel bumi x perlu buka semua Semoga berjaya 👍

10 mA itu adalah rccb tu akan bertindak balas memutuskan litar (triggered @ 10mA residual current) jika ada leakage 10mA

10ma for wet places
30ma for power circuits,
Both have their own functions, and usually this 10ma is more sensitive sir

The low-sensitivity type leakage protector with leakage action current value of 50mA and above cannot be used as household leakage protection.
So, can we use the 10mA RCCB in the household? The answer is: There are certain problems, it is easy to malfunction, and also affect normal use.
It can be seen that the 30mA specification is the best. It can not only achieve effective preventive electric shock protection but also take into account the direct contact click protection.
Just wondering, as you have said 30mA RCCB is the preferred size. Any plausible reasons why airconds and water heaters which are power hungry be on the 100mA circuit instead of the 30mA circuit? In fact the water heater is required to have 10mA RCCB which is closer to the 30mA circuit.
For that matter why not all circuits, power and lighting, be connected just to the 30mA circuit, a more sensitive and safer RCCB. Saves cost without the 100mA too.

Bergantung pada load/beban tuan, kalau beban rendah guna 6mm tapi kalau beban tinggi guna 10mm dan keatas.

Since RCBO is a combination of RCCB and MCB, may I know is there any particular reason(s) for redundant MCB connection as described in your video section installation with RCBO?
for RCBO installation (mcb is not required) but for easy cable connection (for me) sir

Rumah saya dah ada lama WH tapi just guna MCB biasa so saya dah beli RCBO, nak remove MCB lama tu ganti tempat dia dgn RCBO, masalah saya mcm mana nak cari Neutral outgoing ikut wiring lama tu? Jenuh sy fikir and menung sorang². LIFE memang ready kat situ sbb MCB 1pole yg Neutral wiring lama tu mcm mana nak cari untuk tarik ke outgoing RCBO baru tu.
Mudah je, boleh guna buzzer, testlamp, multimeter.
Caranya
1. Sambungkan atau pintaskan kabel bumi dgn kabel neutral pada W/H
2. Buka semua kabel neutral pada DB sebelum tu *(offkan main suis@ buka fius TNB)
3. Test guna buzzer @ meter diantara kabel bumi dgn kabel neutral yg kita buka tadi sehingga ada bunyi buzzer @ ada bacaan pada meter *kabel bumi x perlu buka semua
