I watched the race live on RUclips, but your video is much more fun! A great "behind the scenes", and you're all obviously a fun group. Coming home with a medal and a smile, as you say, it can't have been all that bad (easy for me to say). Great stuff!
I love your attitude about competition. There's always a positive you draw out of even the hardest races. It's always onward and upward. Good for you! Way to go!
Nice one - way to gut it out! Also - I hadn't read your caption, and I was like "Wait, what - that's Radcliffe!!!" and yes it was! Very cool! Love the camaraderie between all of you GB team mates.
Well done Phily for sticking at it, track racing is brutal and when things get tough the laps make it worse as you well know. Interesting watching how athletes travel to races. I really don't know why these races are in such random out of the way places, if they want crowds attending they should be in populated places with easy access. Supporters also makes a big difference to competitors.
Congratulations on your run and picking up a medal. It looked like an experience you won't forget in a hurry. Glad you enjoyed it. The Turkish lady Yasmin Caan ( i think ) was outstanding.
Congrats on the medal and the insight into international competition Great vlog, would’ve been nice for a round up and reflection once you got back home Well done 👏
@@PhilyBowden I did also watch the rest of the video! I realised later, "she must have thought I was crazy." An an Aussie in the US, I miss a good soft boiled egg and I always forget I can make them myself!
Impressive! I wonder how you do it and in how much pain you are. Esp. when you say that you can still feel the race from 2 weeks ago. You all are crazy ;-) The only time I was in a lot of body pain was after our crossing-the-alps by mountainbike tour. We started in Germany and reached Lake Garda in 6 days after ~11000m altitude gains. I did basically nothing after that for two weeks - except from eating/stretching/sleeping ;-)
Awesome racing looked pretty damn tough but you gutsyed it out. Still not sure what the difference is between European cup and European champs guess it’s like different European cups in football? I’m so ignorant 😂
Great job on the run, and amazing that you manage to film such a quality video for your channel in parallel! 👍 One thing I don’t ‘get’ (clearly not being a professional myself!) - why do ‘you’ (athletes in general) run your race according to how others run? Why not just take a ‘blinkers on’ approach and just run your fastest 10k time you can on that given day? I get that you might find some marginal gains in ‘slipstreaming’ someone for a while, but other than that, why not just run at your own preferred PB pace?
Great question, it sort of depends on the race - if it’s a paced open race for example (e.g. British Milers Club races) that’s what athletes will do - blinkers on, this is my goal PB and I’m going to run that. Championship racing though is different because tactics come into play, sure you could go blinkers on and try and run a PB but you miss out of learning to respond to tactics from other, more experienced (likely faster too) athletes who will likely win the race - they can do both, go out and run fun to tape from the front, or wait until 600m to go and kick for the finish and out kick everyone. It’s good to learn from different race scenarios to gain that experience and ultimately become a better athlete. I hope that makes sense, its a lot more intuitive than that in practise and very individual to each athlete and what they are aiming to get out of the race (e.g try to win, gain a PB, try a new tactic etc) and what their preference is!
@@PhilyBowden thanks 😊 - Does make sense but I guess (from a position of inexperience of this type of running) I’d feel a bit “What if?” If I’d run at ‘the crowd’ pace, lost out on the ‘kick’ stage . . . but suspecting that I could’ve run a faster overall time PB wise.
Really enjoyed having a look at what it's like traveling with a national team. Congratulations on a successful trip and a gutsy race!
Thanks Eddie, hopefully the first of many for this type of video!

So true, Pacé was an odd choice of location.. and really not that easy to get to. Maybe it’s a cost reason for the organisers I don’t know?
Well done Phily! Many more to come!🎉
Bravo Phily ! I hope you enjoyed your journey in France !
Phily

Ten million kinds of envy for that egg cooker!

Yeah the pain is something I must master to not feel.. I’m sure I’d run faster if that were the case!
Wow that sounds brutal, touché!!
Congratulations on a team effort coming in 3rd place. Glad you did not get wrapped up in in the whole event lol
Inspirational stuff from Olympian and world record holder Aly Dixon 😂 love her man, even though she’s a mackem. ❤
Could have used the Sun as backlighting btw.
Commiserations on the Lipton Yellow Label ;o)
Ugh I know right, weakest tea in the land! Should’ve bright my Yorkshire stash 💔
Aly is awesome.
Yes she is, what a hero!

Thanks Stuart! So this meet in particular is just the 10,000m, the European champs (later this year) will be all the track and field events
Wow , all that travel and bad food before the race- didn't realize its that harder!
No bad food, there’s no such thing
@@PhilyBowden take lentils instead of that toast bread -instant 20 seconds faster race! (just kidding, you're amazing) .
