Back in 1982, I was a student at Centennial College. Second Semester and first year. I HATED all my classes except for one. It was an Elective on Science Fiction. That introduced me to the show The Twilight Zone. The rest is History :) I LOVED this song when it was released. Made me think of different Episodes of my FAVE TV show. And it still does. Off to my other Dimension now.
Same year I took a philosophy class called Science Fiction in Film. Got hooked on the topic. Now I over analyze everything 😂 including this song. It’s a favorite.
Didn't hear the tune until the 1990's Had a Harley with a cassette deck. Looped this song to play over and over and played it like crazy on a bike trip to the Outer Banks. Great song to drive or ride by
A fun and beautiful place to ride a Harley too, the Outer Banks of NC, been there many times. And you are so right, this is a great song to listen to while riding there...or anywhere in open country.
Thanks. Being Dutch and all, I can really appreciate this choice. Digged the track the moment it came out. Takes me back. Way back. A quite confused 18-year old, drinking too much, not doing the things I better might have done. But nothing is a waste in a person's life I guess. Interesting times. Great mix by the way, but what's new when it comes to The Cat.
My all-time favorite Golden Earring song. Trivia: the song was inspired by Robert Ludlum's Jason Bourne trilogy as well as Rod Serling's seminal series The Twilight Zone.
When this song first came out, we requested this song to a DJ , at a local FM radio station. stage name, Rip-The Strip- Taylor. He played this song religiously every night at 2AM for several months, every night ;) Great partying song at 2AM Dangerous, if driving at the time . LOL Because it was/is a severely bad-ass high-speed hard driving song as well.
I did a few stints on a college radio station back then. Shift change was at 4am and the guy who arrived then for the folk show was *always* late and you had to leave your desk and go down four floors to let him in the building. Always played the Wall of Voodoo Mexican Radio 12’’ because the b-side was close to ten minutes long and you didn’t know how long you would be at the front door waiting for this guy and you obviously didn’t want dead air.
I like how the record says 4'33". I saw that and thought "yup, DJDiscoCat will take care of lengthening that little problem." Nice rework stretching out this hard driving classic!
Thank you DJDiscoCat for the song. I have been waiting for you do a remix for a long time! You did good job on The Golden Earring's Twight Zone! I can wait for the the next song that you do right here on RUclips channel for sure! You have a nice day anyway!
Back in the MTV days, I first saw this video and loved it. In keeping with the cutting edge of audio and video, I bought a state of the art JVC Stereo HiFi VCR. I then set out to find all the available Stereo music video cassettes I could find. Low and behold, I found a Golden Earing video with their music videos. Twilight Zone was one of the tunes. I cued it up and started to rock. I had watched this video on MTV, but this one was different. The hitman was an attractive woman driving an MG Midget. When she went to pull the gun, she was without her top. And I'm not talking about her roadster! This was the first music video I had seen with nudity. All that time, we had been watching the censored version on MTV here in the States. Needless to say, that music video got a lot of play at our house! Great mix! Keep them coming. You Are The Master!
This is just really good. Had the 45 of this when it came out, now have the album. One of my favorite album covers with the bullet slicing through the playing card.
Thanks DJ for putting that tasty outro guitar solo up front, to hear in all its glory. As you know i. The 80s annoying radio djs would start bab ling often ruining the best part of the song
I had recently discovered THe Manhattan Transfer through their Disco hit 'Twilight Zone/Twilight Tone" and was expecting something similar from Golden Earring. I did not find this song near as exciting as what Transfer had done, and so left it in the record bins.
Thank you so much for doing this one. I'm amazed at how good it turned out. I love all your disco and soul jamms but as a true rocker this one called out to me.
this mix also would have been great back in the 1980s when there was the the all over western europe famous discotheque SOUND here in Berlin ... back then there were only few 12"-mixes of Rocksongs. Another big Rock-Hit from that era was Surrender by the Greg Kihn Band and Voices by Russ Ballard. Maybe an idea for future mixes?
Another track by DJDiscoCat to wear out. The problem is I can never wear them out. Oh well such as it is with digital. Brilliant Mix! Keep up the great work! Do you have a Patreon account, you should be paid for this stuff. I would gladly subscribe. You could offer releases of your mixes before they go on to Utube as well as other videos that the other riffraff (Free loaders) can't see.
Hey DJDiscoCat! I like your music edits very much, but please can you do Supreme Jubilees- It’ll All Be Over? Its not a very popular song, but so beautiful… bye and have a nice day everyone ;)!
Sorry Golden Earring is not from Amsterdam, but The Hague. They lived their all there life and never wanted to leave this city. A move to the US was imply out of the question.
Barry moved to Amsterdam in the late90s early/2000s. Afther a few years he went to Curacao where he is living for over more than a decade. George moved to Belgium in the late 70s. So some of them left….
This song came out when I was in the U.S.N. and stationed on a ship at Little Creek. Because the bars closed at 1am we would often get back to the ship after a night of drinking and being idiots at or just before 2am. One night, while totally hammered; I woke up the duty corpsman in sickbay at 2am by quietly opening the door and then yelling "It's 2am, the fear is gone." I had no idea I did that. Two weeks later the fucker tells me that they can't find my shot record. Good times.

keep those classic 80's hits coming in extended form...have both the single & album versions of this classic...now this!!!!
YES! Keep them coming!!

I've always liked this more than 'Radar Love' so I bought the 'Cut' LP you show here. Thanks for uploading this, I love it!

Surprisingly they are all still alive and in the industry . An accomplishment for any rock group 45 years after they formed
My all-time favorite Golden Earring song. Trivia: the song was inspired by Robert Ludlum's Jason Bourne trilogy as well as Rod Serling's seminal series The Twilight Zone.
It was a great Cold War era music video.
@@TheRegularjoe1365 any idea who the bad guys are in the video? Is it the fugitive on the run? Are the assailants after him the bad guys? 🤷🏻♂
The sound quality is so much better on this than whatever else you might find on YT.
One of my absolute favorite songs. I remember watching this video on MTV back then.
Help I'm steppin' into the twilight zone
The place is a madhouse,
Feels like being cloned.
😂
Prophetic

That's what the fool kids say now!👍

THANK You for an excellent remix - and the interesting backstory as well, DJDiscoCat!💕

@@TheRegularjoe1365 - I remember those days well. Our time in the trenches; I still think of those times as newbie initiation, lol. Rock on!
@@TheRegularjoe1365 well shoot..Innagodda Divida would have provided ample time..lol
I love when a new extended remix is made here, which pays attention to already existing extended mixes AND isn't too repetitive.
Great pick. Appropriate for when I clock in to work everyday.

There were a few remixes released for clubs.
@@jerlewis4291I have that 4'33 version! It's the 45! Kind of disappointing when the local radio stations here would play the 7 minute album version.

I still have this on a 45 single . But I really love this re mix .

Absolute early 80's classic!! Disco does it again!!
In 1982 I was in first grade at Sullivans Island Elementary and couldn’t get enough if this song.
Superb👌❤
Awesome Awesome Song. Love this remix.
Back in 1982 last my school ..happy and old times 😢
Song went to # 10 (Billboard Hot 100 Charts) on March 26 & April 2, 1983. Also went to # 1 (Billboard Mainstream Rock Charts) on February 12, 1983.
I have the newspaper clipping of this. It’s a cherished memory of my favorite band.
I'm so used to the radio edit that I used to hear in the early 80s that I replicated it a few years back.
WOOOOWWWW.!!!! EXCELENT ..✔️✔️✔️✔️
Dark and so tasty, like Bbq tips 😍🤩thank you DJDiscocat!

Got the hits "The Continuing Story Of Radar Love" (which has "Twilight Zone" long album version) & "Moontan" both on CD but that is it.
