Probably pretty chilled to be honest without all the amphetamines 😂
He used to take copious amounts of acid and lock himself in his bathroom, playing for days at a time.

His eyes were closed almost the whole time, damn.
Guitarists don't need to look at the fingerboard... although, it would have helped jimi here to take a peek. 😂
what Joe said.. most guitarists already know the board so it doesnt really matter

@@shamerzaihan8638Doesn't really matter, in this case. I'm pretty sure we can all agree that Jimi doesn't even understand the concept of a fretboard, in this vid: he surpassed the level of master, so long ago, that to him it's not much different than opening your mouth and talking.
its called muscle memory
takes about one year of practice two years tops to learn this skill perfectly
Jimi didn't play guitar, he spoke through it. That's how great he was.
Absolutely

Clearly you're not the musician you say you are. This is literally distorted string bending with wah pedal
Dude. I can't imagine playing this on acid actually, I can. You have no clue how completely deep a spiritual experience he's having. That guitar is what we hear outside - nevermind whats happening in his soul.

Jimi conjured up the power of all his hereditary spirits into a single energy. The world is still trying to come to terms with his genius.
Holy Ghost
As cheesy that sounds I like it still
Unca Jimi was a sonic shapeshifter.....and not of the reptilian kind. The genius of JMH is perpetual!!!!
what metaphysical dribble that is ! Jimi was a great guitarist and had some real great poetry in his writing and singing . he was probably murdered for the insurance by that scumbag jefferys but he got away with it because of the cia ok-ing it for many of the same reasons they murdered Dr King . murdered so that no more people could "come to terms" with his message
Well said
If you look closely, at 00:30 you can see his guitar hero score go into power mode. All jokes aside Jimi is a legend; also have a great day!
That is fucking funny
Now that you mention it, that timer does make it look like Jimi’s racking up points by the truckload.

This solo is the worst I have ever heard...
That solo was a sloppy mess played fast. Not impressed
This solo is ass lol
@@joecebu2791 I like it. But it's just average for Jimi.
I think it sounds beautiful. That’s the thing about Hendrix his style of playing was so creative and innovative that he could take you on an entire journey through his music while being sober. The sound quality could be better but if you also listen this is completely improvised with only his guitar. No one today even comes remotely close to Hendrix’s groove and intense mind shattering bends he laid in the sixties
0:08 even the amp fainted in astonishment
I think the guitar ultimately is an instrument made to replicate every inflection of sound
People don't really get the concept, Jimi helped shaped and influenced all the great bands of the modern era, without Hendrix, Eddie Van Helen, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc. etc. The bands YOU enjoy, listened to this man and were inspired by him.
Nirvana wasn’t inspired by Hendrix at all. Kurt Cobain was a fan of the music that went against the wave Hendrix started. In Utero is literally a noise punk album. Stop including nirvana as an example of “classic rock”. They’re an example of counter culture becoming mainstream, not classic rock
@@KendrickMegaFan yea Nirvana was way more Black Sabbath inspired if anything, Kurt said he loved them lol
@@PiperAtTheGatesOfYourMom what lmfao hell no. Nirvana was an offshoot of hardcore and anarcho punk, not metal. Metal and punk are completely different concepts
@@KendrickMegaFanI believe Nirvana was a contradiction to 80's hair metal, not 60's and 70's rock. Kurt loved Led Zeppelin and Sabbath and such, which aren't that far off from Hendrix.
I listened to this and definitely heard Van Halen before spotting this comment! Jimi is the allfather of virtuoso electric guitar players.
All the pretentious guitarist in the comments saying "its shit." For real tho, Jimi was about the expression and soul during his performances, not the precision and technique. Jimi did however possess those talents as well, but if all you have is the skill and no soul, whats the fucking point? This is an amazing solo.
+Aldrich Dinglasan Jimi says it himself: Its easy to play the blues, but its hard to feel the blues

Jimi was too fuckin cool man, this was almost 50 years ago
This solo actually makes me feel sad, but in a beautiful way. Blues always comes back to the resolution, and Jimi could always bring it back home. Magnificent
Sometimes -not always, of course- but sometimes, I feel the sadder I get, the better the guitarist
Im 13, just heard him for the first time today. Im shocked. I have no words. Might be the best thing ever to happen to me. 😮 my mind is blown
Congratulations and welcome to the initiated... glad you arrived! Hendrix blew all our minds in the 70's.... so long ago but in reality it feels like no time has passed. That makes sense as Hendrix most definitely came to us through some kind of space/time anomaly....

Jeff Beck was a classy dude! And he was a friend to Jimi, even jamming with him a couple of times. If Hendrix had not come along, Jeff Beck would have been considered the uncrowned King of guitarists in his day. Beck was as innovative, and remained so for nearly 50 years after hanging with Hendrix. He was still playing astonishingly well, right up until he died.
This is without out a doubt the HEAVIEST Red House solo he has done.

Jimi is so unique that you can hear a couple of seconds of him playing and you instantly know it's him.
jimi once said that he experimented a lot while playing live, and that that was why he made so many mistakes. So yeah live was often sloppy and focussed on performance and entertaining, but in the studio he was (notoriously) a perfectionist.
Jimi was the man back then, im glad i got tosee him when he came back to state hell of a show, he play at his home town. He was a voodoo child. Peace N Love, keep on playing, bro, sister. Jam on!!!

Michael Devlin nope, nine to the universe is the best 19 minutes of Jimi Hendrix jam session. Lord, I think he went to another galaxy or something when he played nine to the Universe.
@@Da_Metal_Troll Would have to agree, lots of the jams like 'Nine To The Universe', 'Young/Hendrix', 'Jimmy/Jimi jam', 'Easy Blues', 'Drone Blues' are amazing. I did, in fact, decipher all 19 minutes of that jam, I have no regrets.
2nd show was better. But the most important thing about Jimi was his message: "You gotta tell the children the truth they don't need a whole lot of lies. Because one of these days, baby, they'll be running things. So when you give them love you better give it right" Jimi Hendrix
In a world swimming in a sea of lies they murdered the body but the spirit and message lives on within many forever. "The Band Of Gypsy's? A VERY underrated Album because of?? Racism! Unfortunately is ALIVE and Well!!!
@@JamesBond-ml3zp Whilst I do agree with you, your opinion is quite controversial. I believe why the album is underrated was because of the constant pressure from Hendrix's record contract. Jimi never really wanted it, but it had to do. The album itself, compared to his studio work, could not be developed with, obviously, overdubbed effects and guitars, etc. So, due to Jimi's opinion, and others, it wasn't his among his favourites.
I love the album, and I love every fucking Hendrix album on Earth, Mars or even the galaxy. Reason is why most are underrated, say: Dagger release "Hear My Music" or "Morning Symphony Ideas" compared to "Electric Ladyland", these didn't have the sheer advertisement nor did they have Jimi and his band touring it.
Due to Jimi's race, and maybe of Billy Cox and Buddy Miles, it may be to racism, definitely. But understand Jimi was a genius and he preferred to have his masterpieces to the best they can be (but obviously B.O.G is great in my opinion, maybe wasn't in Hendrix's).
You know who is the best when the best call him thee best ever.
One thing you have to admit, once you got to hear him live, you became a fan!
It’s not just live. The guitar is alive. And it’s giving life, literally like a guitar god in labour. 😭❤️
Hendrix at his best. Its hard to understand if u dont know his style, hes so unorthodox. Im being serious ONCE u understand what hes trying to do it doesnt sound messy at all! He played outside the box, its like when i listen to Miles Davis, i think what is this crap? But most ppl say Miles Davis is incredible, so even though i dont understand Miles playing, i have to trust the ppl when they say hes the best. Believe me, this brings tears to my eyes. The Greatest!!!
I don't think that he's unorthodox, because ever since he came into the scene. He becomes the textbook (standard of a great guitarist) he's just that damn good
at his best? Not even close. Hes had WAY better solos. He definitely was not at his best here and it was pretty sloppy work. Hendrix had better for sure.

This is a clear example of the media telling you something is great, and like a sheep, you obey
out of this world cmon----lsd or not he was the best ever
matiz mier did he sell his soul?
Michael Williams Stop believing in that shit. You can't just decide to sell your soul one day and become the greatest of all time. Otherwise there would be a LOT more godly guitarists. Selling out only means one thing in music, and that's giving up creativity to make your music sound like all the other popular music just so you can make loads of money. KISS going disco? THATS selling out. You illuminati believers think you know all the answers and believe in these rituals and soul selling shit but like i said, if you could just decide to sell your soul one day to make millions, don't you think everyone who wasn't religious would do it?
@@Calilou52 well on the contrary tgis is real and hes been for Mellinia. He did sell his soul possiblit to become the greatest guitarist of all time or whatever you choose to think, but that is opinion. People are approached to sell their soul by a demon and they choose to take take the deal that ehatever demon presents to them. This is shown by the unified and widesrpead symbolism of many celebrities as far back as you can choose to look. Its irrational and down right obnoxious and ignorant to ignore the things that everybody can see with their own eyes. In fact there would be more guitarist almost or even better than Hendrix if this was not the case but it is. People would dedicate their hearts mins bodys and souls to accomplish what he has and have dedicated these and more but still havent which shows more evidence to the fact. You can be blind if you choose to but its real and its happening. Belive it or not its real.
How can you play with soul if you already sold your soul? There's the trick 😉
@Fdss Hhgutcher LOL kid
I saw NFLs top 100 players of all time list, and watched the one on Barry Sanders. The guy explains sanders as a running back saying the way he ran, the moves and cuts he made can’t be done by thinking. He said it’s metaphysical. That’s where you can’t think about doing the thing that’s where you ARE the thing. You have to turn your brain off in certain ways and just play the game, or in this case the guitar. Jimi Hendrix IS the thing, and that’s why no one can ever play like him or sound like him.

I've heard all the greatest guitar players from Zep,Purple, Van Halen to Satriani, SRV , Slash and all in between but I've never heard anything as expressive and emotional as this. This is beyond heavy. When Hendrix was truly on he was totally in a league of his own. At other times, he could sound listless and sloppy but this performance and plenty of others like this made him the most revered electric player ever. Like him or hate him there will never be another innovator quite like him.
