    This is by far the best single video instruction on how to grow hydroponically. I hope folks take advantage of this and start growing. Excellent instruction and all under 5 minutes!

    Great video. I have 2 questions. 1- can a plastic opaque container work instead of glass & sock?
    2- will using hydroponics organic fertilizer be ok with no water movement?

      Thanks for watching and commenting! Yes, that container will work. We recommend looking for BPA Free or food grade plastic. That is a super way to lose the sock :) To your second question, a big hearty YES that this will work with no water movement. That's the magic of the Kratky method! Just be sure to leave the air pocket / space for the roots to get oxygen. 03:24

    Can you grow these outside in sunlight? (Thinking of putting glass jars into pots to look nicer but worry about rain etc…)

      We don't have experience doing this method outside. We only use it for growing indoors on shelves or countertops!

    my leca/clay pellets has grown this sorta mold looking stuff, but it’s white. i was wondering if taking out my already growing plants from the net pots and cleaning the jars/leca would harm the plants?

    • @HappyLeafLEDGrowLights
      @HappyLeafLEDGrowLights  6 месяцев назад

      The white stuff is most likely calcium carbonate that comes from water - a natural mineral from well water. Or, sometimes the nutrients can leave a residue. (Could be salt if you have softened water). None of this is harmful. It if looks like mold - fuzzy and no germination, then you have too much water. If you already have a plant that's growing, we don't recommend changing anything with the leca. I hope this helpful. If you would like to discuss further, just get in touch with us.

      @@HappyLeafLEDGrowLights Thanks for the help :) ! I have another, unrelated, question, i’m currently growing some bell pepper plants with this hydroponic system and how do i know when it’s time to convert to a pot? or if i even have to? would the bell peppers make the plant become too top heavy to grow correctly or do i have nothing to worry about?

    Can you grow other fruits and vegetables other than lettuce with this same method. ..?

      It's ideal for growing greens and herbs in smaller spaces, be sure to check out our other videos on different greens we have grown. Other versions of this method are used for tomatoes and fruits and things of that nature. Thank you for your question and for watching!

    How long do you leave the socks on? Just the first few weeks or the entire time the plants are growing?

    • @victorzaderej1618
      @victorzaderej1618 10 месяцев назад +2

      The sock is left on all the time to prevent light from the jar and causing algae growth.

      Thanks for the clarification, I had the same question. Could you recommend an anti-algae solution I can add to avoid blacking out the jar or covering with a sock? I’ve seen several options but wasn’t sure how practical or healthy it was for this project.
