    Would love a long term review on this before I purchase. We've been buying the Serta Big & Tall Jennings model chairs for YEARS. The foam they use lasts and lasts, but in most recent years, the materials they've started using have suffered in quality. If the long term testing on this showed little to no degradation in comfort, this might be a worthy option to switch from the Serta chairs.

      Both chairs are made by Colamy and so far I've found all their chairs to be affordable AND comfortable for bigger people. Here's their store on Amazon: amzn.to/40fnUeJ Their stock rotates a bit, so the exact chair is not always available anymore. They tend to sell out quickly.
      I haven't had an issues with the foam so far, though now I sort of rotate between chairs and I'm not working from home quite as much as I used to. I think I'd have to say THIS chair was more comfortable just for sitting, though on warm days there isn't a lot of airflow. The mesh-backed chair was more adjustable, but the back has a steep angle backwards.. I end up using placing a small pillow at the top of that one when I want to lean back.

      @tomshomefinds 7 месяцев назад +1

      That's a good point. I just don't run that hot, or maybe I get up regularly enough that it isn't a big issue for me? Not sure. The older I get the less I'm a fan of the "mesh" chairs because they just don't seem to be as comfy or supportive as the foam seated chairs. Sometimes the vinyl/leather material has some hole for air venting, though this doesn't. One option: drape a thin decorative blanket or towel on it if that's an issue? If you DO tend to run hot and you feel warm in leather/vinyl chairs then that might an issue for this chair because the arms are fairly closed off in the seating area...

    I'm 6ft 3, I weigh almost 18 stone, which is around 250lbs. I need a new chair, but I can't find any that have reinforcement around the hole that the piston fits into. I keep snapping welds on my chairs. I'm not even that big; I weigh a lot, but I'm small around the waist., broad across the shoulders and chest. I don't want to waste any more money on a chair that breaks within 2 years.

    • @tomshomefinds
      @tomshomefinds Месяц назад

      Yeah, that's totally reasonable. I have a cousin who is a good 30 pounds lighter than me and STILL manages to break his office chair every year or so. I think he likes to squirm and lean a lot, which can bend or push the welds/joints in ways the manufacturers didn't think about. I weigh about the same as you (and have for years) and I've never broken an office chair, so I think I just don't wiggle as much. Whether you go with this chair or another one you should probably look for chairs that advertise weight capacities of 350 or more just to account for the "wiggle" and bounce factor of how everyone uses chairs. I DO still use this one in my office basement setup and it's still holding up.

    How far back can it tilt? what is the seat height (min/max)? when it does tilt, does it lift your legs at the knees? is there a tilt lock?
    Being 6'5 and just shy of 300 that likes throne like chairs (currently using the Serta at Home exec office in the ugly brown leather for reference).
    I find many office chairs dont take into account that footrests exists and when you tilt back in it should sit lower or else when you tilt the leading edge of the seat lifts your legs off the floor and jam them up into the underside of your desk or keyboard tray.. Most lower weight class synchro tilts in steelcase chairs for example accomplish this or if the tilt pivot is located more forward (which usually means a thicker base and a wider wheel to wheel diameter)
    Now also too, what kind of leather is it? PVC/Bonded leather all falls apart withing weeks (especially in the arm rests), so the better question is, what longevity is there in this chair?
    It seems that the Steelcase 400lb chairs might still be the go to for the semi-big and tall if you want something that lasts for more than 2-3 years.

    • @tomshomefinds
      @tomshomefinds 7 месяцев назад

      When I tilt back in the video that's as far as it goes. Not really sure of the exact angle, but it does NOT feel as though you're going to fall over (at least I didn't). There is no tilt lock. You can only lock it so that it is upright (no tilt) or tilt is enabled.
      It is typical pvc/bonded leather, though I've had relatively good luck with arm longevity on my office chairs. I will say that my office doesn't get any direct sunlight, though.
      I haven't tried the Steelcase chairs yet and they may last longer but they are also in an entirely different pricepoint.
      You can compare both chair lines on Amazon:
      Steelcase (Pricy but maybe more durable): amzn.to/41fyRgI
      Colamy (Affordable & Comfy):

In the end I decided that I was better off replacing a less expensive (not real leather) chair every four years than replacing a real leather chair in about the same time period.

    I bought this chair and ended up returning it. It is absolutely not built for tall people. The ergonomics are probably designed for someone under 6 ft tall. The search for a chair continues for me

      Sorry to hear you didn't like it. I think different people are "tall" in different ways, so people with longer legs may like this chair more than people with longer torsos, but I find that all chairs are, to some extent, a matter of personal comfort.

    This guy is a little above average height and weight. He can use almost any designer chair or big-box store chair. Come on, bro. This is not useful for big and tall people.

    I'd ask about whether, or not, the arms are confining, but you are REALLY not big enough to review OR recommend this chair.

      Every single person has their own personal preferences regardless of body size. I've purchased plenty of things online that others raved about only to find that it's not to my liking. Is their opinion wrong just because I didn't like some object that they did? Nope. It's just a difference of opinion. I do not weigh 499 pounds but I still find this chair to be very comfortable. Just because the chair holds up to 500lbs does not mean that you have to BE 500lbs to use it. Other family members and visitors have also found this chair to be one of the more comfortable ones. I sometimes give away office chairs after reviewing them, but this is one of the ones I've chosen to keep... because it's so comfortable. Good luck finding someone else with YOUR exact body size and personal preferences who can make perfect recommendations for you and you alone.

      @@tomshomefinds You're missing my point entirely. It's not about "personal preference." Bigger people CAN NOT sit in chairs whose arms are not wide enough or whose seats are too narrow. Understand?

      @@GQ007-il6ek I understand what you're saying, but you're making the assumption that this chair would ONLY appeal to people who are "bigger" and "heavier" and I don't think that's the case. This chair COULD work for them (if the measurements work out) but it may not. The Amazon link has the width of the seat listed (24.8 inches). You can be short and heavier or tall and heavier. Some people like a snug fitting chair, some want lots of space. Personal preference, again. People of any weight can have a huge variety of body types. I find the chair comfortable and other people who have tried it (of any body type) have liked it.

      @@tomshomefinds You still don't get it. I never said that other people would not want/like this chair. That's YOUR attempt to justify your own opinion. It's not about what "some people like." heavy people want reviews BY heavy people because they can more accurately define whether such a chair meets the comfort parameters of fellow heavy people. But instead of conceding my point and acknowledging that I even HAVE a point, you continue to defend and deflect. LEARN something here instead of forming ANOTHER argument that even FURTHER illustrates you narcissistic inablility to admit you're just WRONG.
