It probably says this in the video, but just in case anyone else gets stuck like I did, you have to turn on receive CC messages in global settings. The manual describes the process, but it still stumped me. Possibly a mistake in the manual, but seems that you have to hold down shift when you press menu for the second time in step three...

Hi, I' m a hpppy NymphCC user. It makes such a difference! I was wondering whether there is a simple way to export the factory presets and/or SYX files to the .nym format. Or is loading and saving presets one by one the way to go?
Hey. Great to hear you are liking the software. Yes that is definitely possible, Dreadbox provided a way to get at the internally saved presets in one of their firmware updates. It's not documented at all and a little tricky, I will need to speak to them to get further details. I have a lot on at the moment but will start to look into this as a future update 👍
@@TimShoebridge Happy to crowdfund, get an extra license or contribute in whatever way to increase motivation. But no worries, with the possibilities of exploration the Nymphes has and this software promotes, I'm in no rush.

I can play notes with my keyboard and the synth reacts. However, when I move the sliders nothing changes on the hardware. Thank you for help!
Hey. Thanks for the purchase. You need to enable MIDI CC on your Nymphes. There are two different settings in the menu: one for allowing incoming CC and one for sending CC. You should enable them both, you do this through the Nymphes' menu system. I have had many people think they set these settings but didn't because the menu system is really cryptic to use and does not give obvious feedback of what you have done. So be very careful making these settings, maybe try more than once if you are in any doubt.
Does the Nymphes need to be in a particular mode to work with NymphCC? I can get it to receive notes buy not any CC messages either to or from the Nymphes. I'm on a Windows Pro 11 laptop with the latest Voltage Modular and NymphCC, as well as 2.1 firmware. I have it setup with midi from voltage modular and NymphCC is using the midi io on the gui so that it will update. I can't get CC to work, however, with any configuration. But notes work.
You need to enable sending and receiving of MIDI CC on your Nymphes. This requires making settings in its main menu which are a bit cryptic and easy not to set correctly. Please refer to the synth documentation for details 🙏
@@TimShoebridge Thank you, I did figure that out. Maybe Voltage Modular is unstable on windows, it works for a minute and then crashes, I have to reboot to get VM working again. I did get midi to the nymphes, but not from it to do GUI updates. Times like this I wish I had a mac. LoL!
Hi Tim, amazing work here. Been trying to use the Midi CC controller in Logic but I face a very strange behaviour. When I move sliders from the Nymph, the sliders that I see moving in the UI are completely different ones and when I move things from the UI, it looks like it changes parameters on the Nymph that are not the ones from the UI (I did try with the volume know but make a very simple test). It's as if the midi mapping was not correct. I'm using firmware 2.1, would you have an idea by any chance? Thanks,
Hi Jack. The only differences in midi mapping I am aware of are between v1 .x and v2.x ..... There are two versions of NymphCC available - v1 and v2 - can you please double check you have the right one installed and running? Once you buy v1 you can purchase v2 for free, they are two separate products in the voltage modular library.
Hi Tim, thanks for the quick reply, I actually found out that I didn't update to v2.x properly (forgot to start in boot loader mode). My bad for not reading manuals properly...
Clarification -- it connects (recognizes "Nymphes" as output and my midi keyboard as input, and V Modular's midi indicates a signal when I play the keyboard -- but sliders have no effect, clicking init has no effect. I hear the Nymphes just fine, it's just that the software has no effect. Wondering if anyone has any ideas, thanks.
@@stujay Sounds to me like your Nymphes is not configured to accept midi cc. Please double check that and email if you still have problems. I don't do support on RUclips.
Hey Tim, just bought nympheCC but im having problems getting nymphes to actually register when setting it to midi out. I can see nymphes in the drop down but when I click on it, it still shows none. I have the nymphes midi going through usb midi. do I need to use actual midi cables for this to work? I noticed in the user manual it states it has to be the direct midi input. Just wondering how you have your nymphes connected for midi. I am using ableton if that matters. Thanks!
Hi, USB MIDI is fine, either connection will work. The reason why NymphCC is unable to connect will be that something else is already accessing that midi device, presumably ableton is the culprit. Make sure ableton is not referencing that same MIDI output. There are similar complications with Cubase which is the DAW I use - by default Cubase opens all available MIDI devices, but this behaviour can be overridden. Make sure ableton is not doing something similar.
@@TimShoebridge turning off track and sync for the nymphes in the ableton midi settings worked. I also made sure to have nymphes accept midi cc messages through the menu in the nymphes for anyone else reading this in the future. Thanks Tim! Can’t wait to see what presets people make with this program. Hopefully I can steal some from the community 😉
@@DenimCrawdad I'm that reader from the future. :) I have read the manual and I cannot find the way to "have nymphes accept midi cc messages". I am running Voltage with Nymphcc in standalone, headphones plugged to the Nymphes, and I'm still hearing the sound generated by the Nymphes as manipulated with the hardware, entirely ignoring changes in the Nymphcc controller.
@@QuimGil @DenimCrawdad in addition to this, i found a reddit post which helped me: "partially solved I think, the manual is wrong about turning CC on and off, it says to press menu while shift is lit, but you actually have to hold down shift and THEN press menu while still holding down shift" by u/funkmusiciscool
I have to admit that I find the raw sound of the Deepmind to be weak. It's when you add effects that the Deepmind really shines, all the top factory presets utilise effects very well, disable the effects and they sound a lot different. The basic raw sound of the Nymphes is much more full imho, the oscillators are more raspy, the filter has more character. With the Nymphes you lack effects, and the output is mono.
Can I use this to swap out presets on the actual nymphes itself, or are my presets created on the Nymphes CC only available when I am connected to the computer? If so, how do you do it?
Hi, The presets you save on your PC using NymphCC can only be used - ie. loaded - back into NymphCC. But there is absolutely nothing stopping you from saving the sound parameters at any point as a preset on the Nymphes itself. The convenience of having presets on your computer is that you have an unlimited amount and can name them and organise them how you like. But I have a subset of those filling up the slots on the synth itself so I can unplug it from my PC and use it elsewhere.
I'm having trouble getting the Nymphcc to work in Voltage standalone. Even if midi gets in and Nymphes audio goes out, the audio responds to the hardware sliders, and the controller doesn´t produce any change of sound. A minor problem is that the the midi In stays with None no matter how hard I try to select my keyboard. I can circumvent this problem by connecting the midi "from host" to "In" (pulling a virtual cable to connect them in Voltage).
If the midi device stubbornly says none it usually means that the device is already open by other software. Do you have a DAW running? Most DAWs consume all the midi devices they can find. That's the first thing to check. Most USB midi devices are single use, ie. Only one connection at a time.... PS if you have it selected in VM's own midi config screen then that will stop NymphCC from opening it
@@TimShoebridge Thank you! This solved the problem of selecting my keyboard in MIDI In without having to pull the virtual cable. Still, I keep hearing the Nymphes as configured by the hardware knows and sliders. Moving sliders in the controller doesn't do anything. Saving or loading patches doesn't seem to help either. PS: Great work! Only the motivation and the UI brought to purchase your two modules as soon as I found this video, even if I hadn't used Voltage ever).
@@QuimGil Does the Nymphes show up in the output devices list just as "Nymphes" or does it mention "Bootloader"? Bootloader can be a consequence of the v2 firmware upgrade and you'll need to contact Dreadbox support if you see that word. But assuming just "Nymphes", you need to nake sure your synth is configured to send and receive MIDI CC. By default it is not. You do this using the Nymphes own main menu. Lastly, mke sure the MIDI channel that Nymphes is sending and receiving on is the same as the one you set in NymphCC.
@@TimShoebridge Ok, finally. Enabling [Globals Settings --> CC --> In] did the trick. How beautiful a plain saw can sound after so much trouble! Thank you for your patience. :)

And replying to myself and for anyone else in the future, in the manual this can be found under [Globals Settings --> CC --> In]. :)
Wow! How did you make this?
Cherry Audio provide a development kit for Voltage Modular. It's a java dev environment.
how do you think the nymphes compares to the deepmind? not really concerned with features, just the sound...
@@TimShoebridge I was thinking the same thing
Will it work as a standalone program or as an application? Under Windows and Mac and ios? thank you
It runs as a desktop app and also as a DAW plug-in on both Windows and Mac
@@TimShoebridge thank you Tim🙏👍
This makes me consider a Deepmind 12M 😅
A coder as well
Nice one but doesnt seem to work with ableton, tired of trying and just got a free one in Max for live and just works great
Hiya would i be able to use this software through just normal midi
so i can plug my Nymphes into a wall socket. and have midi information
coming from the software to the synth and control the whole thing
as far as midi notes and other midi controls are concerned by a midi
keyboard which also has normal midi only.
Yes you can use a regular Midi DIN connection instead of USB. As long as your computer recognises the Midi connection you can use it 👍
@@TimShoebridge
Thanks for the reply. yes that sounds great I thought it would be
o.k i was just making sure before buying the software just in
case.
@@subconscious.com_usa6691 No worries, Cherry Audio have a great refund policy if the software does not work out for you 👍
