Ricardo is a smart kid. He’s definitely gonna do well in life. You can tell he has learned from what he’s seen. I definitely relate. If you’re reading this I appreciate you bro 🤙🏻
So perfect how it encapsulates a side of skatepark culture that isn’t just skating, the people who hang around the parks as a second home. Skateboarding growing up feels like a learning experience and all the different characters at the park teach you all the types of people in world you will encounter. As well as other lessons that due to the huge generational divide between our parents culture and our own, parenting is unable to teach… Thanks Nic. love it.
This was interesting. I feel so sad for those kids. They're clearly adrift with no real positive influences in their lives. I hope they make it out alive.
Kids always been like this everywhere. Most do just fine. None of these kids seemed to be angry and lashing out, but just cheerful with no cares. They'll be alright.
Seems like an interesting new series. There's kids like this at nearly every skate park I've ever been to. I'm glad this didn’t come off as judgemental. They're just victims of difficult circumstances.
My local skatepark growing up was in Port Jervis NY right on the river, not too far from this town just a county over. Very similar vibes there during a certain stretch of years. This video took me back, I feel like this is almost a universal phenomena in these types of rural neglected skateparks. Awesome video!
Really beautifully done. Funny and heartbreaking. It's wild how these kids are almost identical to the skatepark lurker kids I knew two decades ago, most of them unfortunately ended up dealing with major addiction issues and died or are in and out of prison. I truly hope that these kids can make it out and break the cycle, they have much more to offer the world than they think.
He's like the park enforcer or something. He just hauls ass around the park doing boned out ollies making sure people pick up their trash and keeps the metal ramp kids from getting out of line.
thank you Jenkem for always delivering diverse, genuine and heartfelt (skate) content. I'm always excited for new uploads on here and hope y'all will continue to find the time and inspiration to keep it up. much love!
damn bro how eerie yet interesting. This could have been anywhere in the united states its not unique to just new york. It could have been any time period as well. These types of kids were around in the 00s and they appear to be around now in the 20s These are the type of kids that I call "the kids who have no place to go", they have no place to go so they just lay on the ramps. sometimes one or two of them actually will get into skateboarding but most of them just lay around on the ramps. This was fascinating to watch
As a kid, I would visit my step-family in Devon, Alberta, a small town near Edmonton. My most notable memories are those spent at the local park just like this one. All the homies I met there had such raw personalities that were uncommon growing up in the city. Thank you for the nostalgia, Nic!!
Man its crazy skatepark kids really are the same anywhere and anytime, park was full of kids like this when I was growing up 10 - 15 years ago. Just kids with problems at home coming to hangout.
this is soo awesome dudes! heavy nostalgia, so stoked to see the “grummets “ (that’s what the good to do kids called us) still going strong! Love from TX
I skated this park once about 15 years ago. The long mellow quarter in the back corner was fun for a day. Glad it still exists but it’s definitely not a park anyone chooses to go to if it’s not their local.
Damn so crazy to see an old local park! Learned my first boardslide on one of the flat rails there. I haven't gone there in a minute, might have to go back. Just need the city to fix up the ground among other things, or really just care about the park
We have one here too. At my old age i just go there early morning usually to try a few tricks and kick around. Any other tine of day and you'd probably get this video's exact scenario. 😂
this confirms that metal ramp kids are the same in every state. love it
pretty much the same here in the UK
Same in Germany
Used to be one of em, now I skate on the metal ramps
In every country*
Same in Ontario 😂
That Albanian kid with the sunglasses is the most interesting person I've ever seen.
Probably time to leave the house I would say.
Skate culture at its finest. This is not a skatepark , its a teen center.

I feel sorry for these kids. That park is the only place they have to escape.
I grew up at a metal park! This is so accurate. This little documentary reminds me of the movie kids or gummo lol. So good.

This hits so close to home. I moved out of that environment years ago… I’m just happy this exists. I don’t have words for the feelings. Thank you.

True shit. I was one of them .
Can confirm, us lucky ones ended up In rehab, the unlucky ones I think about all the time RIP
Well that’s depressing.
Honestly kinda the worst section of skate culture, those kids need like actual help
Should have interviewed the kid w out the shirt on he’s so mysterious now I need to know his lore.
😂
He's like the park enforcer or something. He just hauls ass around the park doing boned out ollies making sure people pick up their trash and keeps the metal ramp kids from getting out of line.
@@StationaryRocketFlipChampionLol that’s sick if that is true. Do you know the backstory of Ricardo? Is he trolling?

Jenkem posts a lot of cringe (usually because of the people hosting it) but this was an excellent piece. More like this
