You've done an excellent job in reviewing this new feature. I've watched at least 5 other RUclips channels on this topic and you definitely win top marks. Thanks for the excellent content you continue to provide.
I spend 30 to 40 hours a week editing in Lightroom, this was a super helpful tutorial on the new generative AI removal tool. Thanks so much for posting this!
Im so glad to have found your channel today, I've learned so many ways to edit that I've never been taught before and believe me I watch a serious amount of RUclips. I have actually been laughing out loud watching your videos as you've been showing me how you edit as your workflow makes it seem so easy to me to put my own artistic impression on my images. I don't know why my algorithm hasn't discovered your channel as I'm always watching editing videos but I'm so glad I have discovered it now. I'll be going through your videos from your start on RUclips as I don't want to miss a single episode of your significantly superior teaching. I've already started a section on my notes on the shortcuts that you provide as I'm sure they'll be invaluable, not everyone is as proficent as yourself.
Thanks so much for your comments. You actually said exactly what I always hope to hear. I just want to present the LR tools but also present ways to process thinking outside the box. This allows others to understand the basics of LR and then develop their own artistic styles without copying exactly what they see in others. I hope I can continue to present that concept to you and others. Never hesitate to let me know if I can help you in any way. Just a reminder, as you review my earlier videos, remember I am growing in my skills too. Sometimes when I review the older videos I cringe realizing I didn't know what I didn't know in some of those topics. Take care and good luck in your artistic ventures.
Great video Mickey as usual it was clear and concise. I always enjoy your videos love this new tool and not having to jump into PS just makes the job that much faster and it will get better thank you.👍
If you want more than the three (3) variations following a refresh, simply go to your History panel at look at and/or select any of the variations created.
The video is great. Generative AI, not so much. And all the false flagging it does makes me want to abandon Adobe. They need to fix all their program's bugs before adding dozens of new gimmicky features.
Thanks. I know what you mean. I was processing some photos today and I could not get the gen AI in LR to do what I wanted. I needed up moving to PS. Granted I was asking it to do a big move, it wasn't a complex task. ButPS didn't have any issues with it. I guess only time will tell how this thing goes.
Now you see it, now you see a blurry blob of pixels, Adobe has destroyed their healing tools, there isn’t a single one that works and gives good results
The new tools are kind of finicky. They actually work fairly well in specific circumstances. I think with these tools you will need to know their limitations and well as what they can do. There is a happy middle ground somewhere. People have got to take those limitations into account when using the AI removal tools. I see the same thing when people first start using curves. They make such wide moves with curves and then complain the tool is worthless. It is not until they discover small minute changes are the key that they discover how powerful the tool is.
This tool is a total fail and has screwed up the previous removal tools, all of them. This, to the point where I'm considering a switch to another editing tool altogether.
So sorry to hear that. I really haven’t heard any negative comments yet. I have to admit in my testing I did find the tool did add unnecessary items in some examples when Generative AI is checked. But when I changed the masking area (making it smaller or refined what I included) it worked better. Also in my testing I found if you don’t check the Generative AI or Object Aware check boxes the tool works identically to how the cleanup tools did in prior versions. What issues are you having with the tools? Maybe I can help you through any issues you are having.
@easternshorephotoinstruction I did send feedback to Adobe. The control Z that immediately stopped working after agreeing to AI removal tool is now back. That was the worst. I'd have to go back to the original photo and start over. The tool itself just doesn't work. It's worse than without. You're right, if I deselect AI and the selection is extremely small, like flaws in face, it will erase. Anything larger no longer works no matter what I select. It certainly doesn't work like it advertises, which is what convinced me to try it.
I agree it is not at the level of PS Generative AI. But it does work fairly well. The examples I used in my video weren't doctored or cherry picked. I would have to see what you are trying to do to diagnose the issues you are having.

Thanks so much. I try to find all those little hidden trick and tips of these new tools. Makes using so much more effective. Thanks for the comment!
This is, by far, the best tutorial on the new feature in 13.3 - thank you very much
You're very welcome! Glad it helped. Thanks so much for your comment.
