I listened to this a few months ago. You re-recorded the entire story with a much improved cast of voices!? It's so much better now. I've been reading the series on Kindle. Have you also recorded The Coded World? Thanks, new fan.
Hey! So these full cast versions use AI narration - actually getting a full cast of voice actors into a studio would be prohibitively expensive, though sometimes I dream about it - and the technology (and voice quality) has improved a lot since I first made these. I'm definitely still learning, and Jay's narrated editions (he's done the Farthest Star and will be doing the rest over the summer) are awesome, but these full cast versions are mostly just for the fun of it. The Coded World is coming next week. Thanks for listening, and I'm glad you're enjoying the stories!
Im new-ish to audiobooks. I'm enthralled by both this series as.well as your full cast AI readings. Thank you so much for this. Ill likely end up going through all of the full cast stuff on your channel, if not the entire channel. You're making my job more enjoyable.
You're welcome! The full cast stuff just seemed like a fun idea to try that's more feasible with AI, so I plan to keep on doing it (I enjoy listening to my own stuff that way too). Other folks really prefer zoning in with a single narrator, so I'll keep making both (along with the pro-narrated versions on the retailers). Anyway, I'm glad you're enjoying the stories. Thanks for listening!
I don't mind the different voicings for the individual characters. What's disconcerting is the Terets-like shouts, grunts, partial words prefacing responses. Then again, taken as utterances by corrupted mechs, not so unexpected.
I'll admit, I laughed at this - it's a quirk of this particular AI, which otherwise has the best emotional range of the ones I've played with. I'm experimenting with some others that don't have the vocal oddities, but they're not as expressive. It's a give and take. I hope you're still able to enjoy the story though!
Starting a collection for book two 😂😂😂 I’ll get started and someone else can continue it if they want.😁Also, I may have missed some. 😊😊 14:20 18:06 33:45 42:17 1:19:53 1:28:54 1:33:30
With the full cast version, I deliberately attempt to bump up the emotional range of the voices to make it less 'monotone'. That sometimes causes changes in narration speed or tone, but I'm also happy to take a look at any spots that sound particularly rough. Appreciate the feedback, and I hope you're enjoying the story regardless!
I make these versions for the fun of it - because I think it's kind of neat to hear my stories with multiple voices. The audio editions for sale on retailers are professionally (human) narrated. That said, if you want to finance a full cast version of these books with voice actors, I'm down - just shoot drop me a line and we can work it out. Regardless, I hope you enjoy the story, and thanks for listening!
Too awful to listen to, No emotion, no natural inflection or neuance. Its like listening to someone read a shopping list. Oh and miss pronounciations. This could be an awesome story, but I guess I will never know. FYI you should really re-thing the use of the term 'Full Cast' in the title as that is at the very least misleading, which wont really do you any favours as RUclips tracks disinterest as well as interest. Make it clear it is AI and people who actually want to hear robots read text will find you and listen (as opposed to click, realise it is a robot and click off or select 'do not recommend channel') ;)
Appreciate the feedback - I am always trying to improve these things - and you can find these books professionally (human) narrated just about everywhere should you want to continue the story. The link is in the RUclips description. Thanks for giving it a listen anyway!
That's fair! The AI narration isn't for everyone. I did get this series narrated, though, and the links are in the description. They'll probably pop up on this channel at some point too. My goal is to get all of my stories professionally narrated, and I use the proceeds from this channel to pay them for it. Regardless, thank you for stopping by!

I’ve decided to have fun with it by viewing it as part of the story…and also, by starting a “collection.” 😂

Not a bad variety of voices but sometimes the wrong ones are applied & gets very weird with speed variations of main character.

Okay im here lets save the babies
A "full cast" ------------ of ai created voices? Isn't one robot voice enough?

Way too many adds for a weak story

Soulless AI blabbering its way quickly through the text, with no variation in speed, tone or emotion
Couldn’t listen to it 👎
