I love how the darkening of the non-moon half of the face implies that there’s a light inside that usually keeps half the face “bright and sunny”, and for moon it’s off to simulate night
I never noticed that till now- thank you!
Or maybe it's a light-sensitive pigment, sort of like those mugs that have images that change based on the temperature.
@@syweb2 yea, that's the headcanon I have for how Sun, and Moon change appearance. Sun probably is slightly heated, like those color changing pencils that react to body heat, and Moon would probably be on the cooler side.
It seems to slowly darken at first, and then rapidly after the rays retract. My theory is that the light dims and then is blocked by the rays.
I like the idea of the chest holding the cap and opening up for when Moon comes out. Kind of like Freddy's chest.

This is so cool! I like how the spike-thingies on Sun's head retract at the beginning, it helps to convey a sense of shock and really builds up that sudden "uh-oh" feeling. Overall a super awesome animation, keep up the amazing work! :D

I share the headcannon some people have that when sun feels negative emotions or gets surprised, his spikes retract until he feels better.

WAIT WOW This is amazing !!! The "old cartoon" effect is doing so well here and the animation is sooo smooth !!
This is horrific in the best possible way.
The animation is fucking *amazing* and so unnerving; I love the the subtle jitters on them so they don't seem like they are perfectly still, but actually like glitching out. It's so amazing I cannot. I am horrified and creeped out.
Not to mention how sun's uh frills retract for a bit, before extending; I felt there is SO much character right there. You put a lot of thought into this, and it really shows.
I'm really curious what kind of artstyle inspirations you have? It feels like old toons but I'm not the greatest at identifying these things. And if you had any scene inspirations because the progression of expressions is top notch, but I feel like I've seen it somewhere else before (not accusing you of copying, I'm just wondering)

I also like to think that when the lights turn off, the clothes start turning blue and into a different pattern. Moons skin tone will also start to appear due to light being missing. When the light turns back on, the sun rays come back and his clothes turn back to red and the red striped pants will appear due to the light. Suns skin tone would return due to the light entering the scene again. Moons hat will still be here, but Sun can just put it back in his stomach hatch.
I like how sun voice start to glitch as he fight to control the command to turn into moon, it's just genuinely make the viewing of sun transformation even more realistic

What terrifies me about the transformations between sun and moon is not that it's creepy or something, it's that sun looks like he's in pain or is experiencing the "what have you done" kind of hurt. He looks so afraid and hurt Everytime he transforms. It adds so much to the character

This is sick as heck. Great animation, creepy atmosphere, nice take on the mechanics of the transformation, and especially impressive how you went the extra mile and added your own sound effects. [EDIT] I just noticed the wink OMG. So many little touches and details. Even the original voice lines are edited. (The fan was on and I couldn't hear it at first.) Fantastic work!

Terrific and terrifying! The way Sun slowly turns into Moon, the way the music creeps up and when they finally turn into Moon with those eyes! Great work!
This is so cool! They should've added Sundrop transforming into Moondrop before our eyes but instead we just get moon peaking behind the counter. This would've been a lot more scarier.
The way they did it ingame saved some resources, and time. While i also think seeing Sun become Moon before our eyes would've been really neat, i can understand why they went the way they did with it.
My theory of how the transformation works is yeah, the sunbeams retract, and then to change the clothing, it simply changes the color, basically how I think it would realistically work is the colors are controlled by lights inside that lit up the clothing and make the different patterns show at different types of light reflecting
I imagine that when sun transforms into moon, another set of clothes just pops out from under the skirt thing, then that same skirt thing turns upside down somehow, and the sunbeams just go in like you said and the hat pops out
or light sensitive fabric? like glow in the dark :D when the lights go out it losses its reaction making it darker and darker!
@@herorisk That's what I think as well; the physical shape of them is identicle between sun and moon. If the clothing was shaped differently then perhaps it was swapped, but considering it isn't it's more likely that the colours just shift with a light reaction

The transition of the transformation is fricken great and smooth,if only we could see something like this close up in the game but hey we can rely on other artist interpretation of the sun switching to moon :)
The atmosphere tone and the glitching voice is also a good detail to also make this feel wary ❤️✨

This is the coolest crap iv’e ever seen wow, amazingly done. I love the facial expressions and the small sounds of his bells on his wrists jingling, along with how when he got scared, his triangle sun beams shrunk into the head and popped back out then he just goes blank. Also being able to hear sun’s distressed scared breaths and the gears is awesome.

The whole transformation is SO COOL !! So many great ideas !! from the spikes retracting, to the eye rolling, but my fav is the hat coming from their chest !!! I've always seen the hat popped on Moon's head without explanation, I love that idea

I love this! I like the old cartoony feeling it has, it really ads to the creepines factor. I also like how you added sounds of the tranformation. Honestly, the hat is the most misteriouts thing for me in the design, it's interesting to see how people make it work.
I mean this in a genuine way, but this style feels so reminiscent of Disney for me ngl. Keep doin' your thing!

I love the way Sun reacts to lights being turned off (with these spikes I mean). Also the hat poping out of their chest! So well made!
I honestly think this is extremely accurate to how the mechanics change from Sun to Moon, I also think that it'd make sense, that if Sun and Moon's faces could change and move, that they'd be made from silicone or rubber of some kind, with sensors, receptors, and robotic joints underneath to be able to move the mouth, eyebrows, ect, and be able to express with facial movements so then, like in this video, their face would move and express!
The bells are so soothing to listen to despite the creepy image. Amazingly done, I love the foley and you've done amazingly well capturing the change between the two.
This is probably one of the coolest fnaf animations I’ve ever seen, the part where the hat goes on his head is really nice! If this was the transformation scene for the actually game it would be a whole lot scarier! Man your really talented keep up the good work!
I love how the colors delude like it's a light on the inside that makes him yellow, which explains why he changes looks at night is because its bed time and the lights on the inside of him go out
I swear this would be so scary in 3D and I say if Scott added this, he would make the scene darker and add more voicelines. If he did, I would never look at anything to do with nighttime or daycares ever again

Absolutely beautiful job on the animation. I think the sun's petals are supposed to rotate into Moonman's head because there just isn't enough room for the petals to fit if they retract. Almost like a camera aperture. I look forward to seeing more it's wonderful ❤

This is amazing. It's so subtle that it's crazy to see one moment he's warm and light and the next he's dark and cold. It's only by watching carefully you can actually spot the changes. I was concentrated on their (his? It's? Both???) face/head and how it changed. Didn't even notice the clothes until he had a navy blue and yellow leg. Lol Awesome!
I like the slow change of color. I always imagined him as thermochromic: electrically warmed to be yellow and red (which would make sense for an animatronic meant to physically interact with children) and blue when he cools down.

Moon was supposed to attend the children's when it's nap time and make them sleep, but because of William Afton virus, or glitchtrap as most call him before he entered his new body, everything in the pizza plex start to get corrupted, the games, the stuff bot, the animatronics you name it, the reason why sunrise isn't attacking us is because he's programmed to take care of children's and not harm them, with the only punishment for bad children's is time out or banned, moondrop on the other hand only has the command to look after the children's while they sleep, with no protect protocol to fight the punishment command that glitchtrap had embedded into his brain, there is a video who can explain the reason even better to be honest
The one who explained the most is, like, 100% correct. I also want to add that Sun is great with kids, even Gregory!

I don't believe that they are the same animatronic, but this transformation is probably how Sun turns into Moon 100%, if they were the same embodiment!
They are the same. The only reason people think they are two different ones is just because of people breaking the boundaries in the game and seeing them leave behind the Sun rig, things you're not supposed to see in the first place.
Yeah, actually if you look closely at moons model you can see suns spikes in between his faceplates :)

1.would hold his face instead of dragging Gregory to a safe place
2. Disappear until you turn all the generators back on, wouldn't he'll try and distract moon to make sure Gregory would be safe?
In the files of the game there is an animation that shows sun transforms into moon (it's nowhere as good as this, his head just spins). While the animation is unused in game it's safe to say that the design is supposed to be that they are the same person
Ok people, as of today (four days later from when I posted this comment), I agree now that Sun and Moon are the same animatronic. I looked at images from a fourth-wall-breaking view of Moon rising from the counter, and I saw the hidden sun ray spikes in his head.
