  • If cities fall apart and noise gets you killed, what actually works? We’re running suppressed .22, 9mm, .45, shotguns, and rifles-subsonic vs supersonic-testing what’s actually quiet, what’s fantasy, and what matters in dense urban environments. From anti-drone concepts to breaching and movement, this is a grounded look at operating when silence isn’t optional.

      @GarandThumbThat's the truth. Being in an urban AO this is especially true. (Planning to move ASAP) I've personally witnessed it with unrest, just living through multiple riots in a year.
      It's very interesting how you can feel the temperature of the situation change. I went from seeing protest on lives, scanners and maps. Within a 45 min drive, you hear the tempo changing. It went from protesting, to crowds shifting to CS canisters flying, cop cars burning and highway I was on overtaken. Without the gut feeling and early warning systems already up and running, we would have been caught on the highway in rocks flying down, deployment of CS and no egress. I was able to split between concrete dividers from construction and drive the wrong way to an exit. That 45min drive turned into 4.5 hours to get home. I could have walked it that time in good conditions. By sunset that night you could hear booms of devices in the distance blowing pharmacy safes and ATMs. The next night within a few hours of sunset. Automatic pistol and rifle fire within a half mile. Devices moving close enough the final days to set off car alarms near us.
      Definitely learned a lot from the first one. Things we accepted that didn't happen and things that did we never anticipated. Next riot we had a sharable map, multiple people outside our area tracking movement and dropping pins. Me and friends scanning all socials to get live streams to track location, numbers and armed or not (SALUTEs) Inevitably I believe we see them again the next year or two. We now have Meshtastic radios, regular radios, more socials and more ideas of planning. Like evac vehicles for medical emergencies, blending in while still showing a presence of people. Avoiding conflicts. The first riot and after. Buddies in fire and PD in my area said no one is coming until sunrise. Fire, EMS or cops. Thankfully many of are TEMS trained EMTs, Vets retired LE and all preparedness minded.
      As for the 22lr. The 10/22 in particular. That also has a place in an urban warfare setting to disrupt lights, camera systems or vehicle radiators that are parked via the front grill. Not large enough to make major leaks visible but once under pressure the system will fail to operate without pressure. Too big for liquid patches and too small for most smaller methods to plug the whole. Great video.

      @johnnyshanksalot8358 19 days ago +3

      I once went down a whole rabbithole on this topic & the problem with 45-70s in that application is that they're all too slow of a twist rate to properly stabilize subs except for Rossi leverguns and the old 14" Thompson center pistols. The calculators all say that you need 1 in 14" or faster but everything other than those is 1 in 18" or slower. An sbr'd Rossi 45-70 mare's leg would make a lot of sense in that role though.

    • @1rstTry
      @1rstTry 19 days ago +4

      while I agree with you, especially considering how bad the BC is, most engagements are going to be within a couple hundred yards so a 4570 would certainly put whatever problem you might have down. ammo availability is a different issue though

The stability calculators dont accout for the cylinder shape of most 45-70 heavy cast bullets. Cylinders are much more easily stabilized than Spitzer type.

    • @hitindustries6076
      @hitindustries6076 19 days ago +8

      @ExpatriotSilencers it actually works quite well, it’s not just the action noise, it is also the sound of the high-pressure gas escaping from the port /breach. I have tested this side-by-side and you can very much tell a difference in sound.

    I just got a couple boxes of Aguila Colibri .22 rounds last week. Without a suppressor, they are more quiet than a daisy BB gun by 50+ %.
    The issue with them is there’s no powder, just the primer and the lead, which looks about like a .22 cal lead airgun pellet. It’ll go through a beer can, but barely.
    However, used in a 10.5” AR-15 with a .22 conversion kit is almost awesome. I say almost bc you have to manually cycle each round.
    Highly recommend for you guys living in neighborhoods where you’re not able to shoot.

      @finnberglander7816never shot a person with a bow but I have shot quite a few assorted critters ... Arrows usually don't stop in the animal unless you hit heavy bone. And the animal will often launch into high gear for about 50-100 yds before dropping dead. Not very good at guaranteed quiet

    • @c0c0asauce
      @c0c0asauce 19 days ago +3

      @Hentylion I wouldn't do it for larger game but I take smaller game by aiming for the spine through the neck. I think the spine or head would be the best place to aim when taking a stealthy shot on a bald ape. Bigger target than the heart at least.

    My only gripe about the Ruger .22 is the single stack magazine. Some fellow might not want to be compliant when he's being removed and having a few extra holes might be beneficial. Apparently there's a patent for a double stack version. I started a discussion at Arfcom about machinists and 3d printers making grip frames for the Ruger Mk4 which would take other brands of magazines. Having 25 rounds of ammo that weighs next to nothing seems a wiser choice if someone can make it work.

      And THAT is why the Taurus TX 22, S&W M&P 22, Sig P322 and even the KelTec P17 are being sold in mass quantities. 16-22 round capacity, while Ruger limited even their SR22. Stupid.
      The TX22 has the added option of the FRT. Utterly ridiculous fun, everyone should have one.
