Lovely pattern❣️ I would prefer though a smoother transition from the sides to the corners, engaging extended single crochet and extended half double crochet stiches.
Also, on this great basis someone could add embellishments, on the central part for instance, like appropriate ribbons, leather, beads, Irish or Tunisian crochet elements, dress the whole handle et.c.❣️
