However if you are tourist £5 for one of these massive baked tatties is not bad when you compare it with the prices and food portions in the UK. A turkish resident can't afford this with minimum wage from a touristic place like this.

I dont know if u still are in istanbul. I recommend you to go to yirmibir kebab or i think it's called kevok at this moment. Also sehzada cag kebab its both one of the 2places i always go if I'm in istanbul.
When they actually take a minute to prepare it, it makes a whole difference. The vans i've seen on tiktok just give it a cut down the middle then throw on the toppings, i've seen children from 1860 have better meals.
