I have seen the interview of Subramanian swamy and i believe him . Operation bluestar was the fault of indra gandhi which created a dent in the long standing relationship of the sikhs and hindus . Jarnail singh bhindrawale was probably aggressive but he was not a terrorist. That situation could be handled via other means also she didn't have to blast akal takht . As a hindu i apologize to all my sikh brothers . But we hindus cannot afford sikhs to be separated from India. So i am against khalistan.

Note how every time she utters "Jatt Sikhs" and claims she is one herself. No one would have ever said that at that time and today as well that "what kind" of sikh "type" they are because that is out of the question. Sikh is simply a Sikh. People like Tavleen will repeatedly cry this particular caste based slur out and put it on Sikhs whereas they themselves are the ones who try hard to turn this into an issue and defame the community. Never heard "jatt sikhs" term in everyday use apart from the so called report work these journalists do. It's as if they wish to manufacture it.Perhaps this is how they have been conditioned. Had hoped that Newslaundry would do better but as it turns out the entire Indian media apparatus is hand in hand with this particular event regarding sikhs with the agenda being to put the "blame" on the community and give clean chit to the Indian state. Ain't new to this.
Another thing that needs to be put clear once and for all is that "arms and weaponry" is "totally normal" in sikh spaces and is an inherent part of the tradition. So everyone trying to cry out the "gun" theme every now and then, need to do better. Somebody ask Tavleen what that "Khanda" is composed of which she wore proudly when she visited Baba Jarnail singh ji. You also need to do better when you talk of "who made him". If you have a strong confirmation bias then that's a different thing. Have fun with that.
Just read yesterday an article written by Tavleen in 1986 apeaking vehemently against an All India Gurudwara Act. And man, what a useless article that was filled also with Utter anti-Sikh sentiment. In it she didnt lay out the reason for her opposition and only kept repeating things. Such a poorly written article with no formal arguments. That actually lays bare the thought process of many like Tavleen i.e. to oppose every sikh move. People feel that just speaking fluent english gives them an upper hand and some form of high ground but in reality their work and output is almost useless when one engages with it.
Sikhs stand proud of the entire movement and we own our Shaheeds in all gratitude.

Giana Puran Singh stated he along with 3-4 others were used as human shields for the protection of an officer who wanted to inspect the inside of the Darbar Sahib for anyone using a machine gun.[142]
A member of the AISSF stated that on June 6 those who surrendered before the army were made to lie down on the hot road, interrogated, made to move on their knees, bit with rifle butts and kicked with boots on private parts and their heads. The detainees were made to have their arms tied behind their backs with their own turbans and denied water. At about 7:00 PM the detainees were made to sit on the Parikrama near the army tanks. Many were injured as there was still firing from the side of the Akal Takht.[142]
Post-mortem reports showed that most of the dead bodies had their hands tied behind their backs, implying they had died after the army assault and not during. These bodies were in a putrid state at the time of post-mortem as they had been exposed in the open for 72 hours before being brought in.[42]
The Indian Army responded to this criticism by stating that they "answered the call of duty as disciplined, loyal and dedicated members of the Armed Forces of India. ... our loyalties are to the nation, the armed forces to which we belong, the uniforms we wear and to the troops we command"

The way she belittles the personality of Sant Jarnail Singh clearly shows her biases towards the Indian state and the propaganda it created.
She acknowledged that the Akal takhat is a symbol of political power in Sikhi but didn't mention that it is also an institution for the Sikh Army, "Akal Sena" created by Guru Hargobind Sahib back in the 16th century.
There's nothing new about Sikhs being armed at Akal Takhat. Rather it's journalism like this that has created a taboo around Sikhs forming an army and protecting the Gurudwaras from the fascists.

As an Indian I am ashamed that this happened to fellow citizens of our country. If the intention of mrs. Gandhi was to take out bh8ndrawale & his men, The right way would have been to siege the Golden temple & also make sure all pilgrims are taken out from there. Also cut out supply of water, food & electricity. It might have taken couple of days or months but eventually the rebels would have been forced to come out. If they came out surrendering , govt would have caught them alive & if they came out attacking they would have been killed much easily without loss of too many soldiers. And if that had happened no sikh would have complained that Govt has attacked our holiest shrine harmandar sahib (Golden temple). Actually most of youth in punjab took up arms after the attack on harmandar sahib. So one wise decision could have saved punjab from the bloodshed that occured after june 1984 attack & anti sikh riots in november 84.
According to government reports , 172 persons were killed in the period from August 5, 1982, to December 31, 1983, and 453 (including 118 killed by the police and paramilitary organizations and some killed in the neighboring state of Haryana), over the period August 5, 1981, to June 2, 1984. Sinha et al. tell us : 'In Delhi alone in the year 1983, 244 persons were murdered (Statesman, July 1, 1984). .... Clubbing together every kind of crime under the heading and blaming the Akali agitation for all of them is but an attempt to mislead the people.'
Nayar confirms that 'Punjab Government circulated a secret document. This document said that there were 5,422 murders in 1980 and 5,068 in 1981 in U.P. while in Punjab there were 620 murders in 1980 and 544 in 1981.' It is noteworthy that of all the cases listed in the White Paper it was only in eleven cases that the attackers are even alleged to be Sikh. In all other cases the assailants were unknown.
