I grew up watching people surf Jaws, but this place makes me realize there's levels to this shit.
This place was unsurfed untill years ago, some people died and even professional surfers had severe injuries, these tsunamis are not a playground for amateurs.

people don't realise how dangerous it is to throw yourself into one of this moving mountains! I also see a lot of comments of people saying they are just going down the wave, no manoeuvres, well lets see them do their manoeuvres in this huge slopes.
A giant ship would founder and be broken up in that surf and they ride it or, they put themselves in the way of those forces. It’s impressive, that’s for sure .

these shots would be amazing if the cam was lower than the wave. i am sure it would be a logistical challenge but to get an appreciation for the true size and power the cam should be at shore level.

Those waves are horrifying! Im watching these on the edge of my seat with a pit in my stomach like "he's not going to make it...." And then they do! Sometimes not and it makes me sick to my stomach thinking about what it's like being under THAT amount of water falling on top of you
I agree with you. I saw an australian reporter saying, 'people come to watch because they want to see carnage and blood'. He doesn't realise the respect people have for those surfers and often we probably hope he'll make out safelly! We watch, out of respect and admiration for those surfers who surf avalanches.

I don't know what it was, however on this day of surfing, it resulted in 2 injured (Pierre Rollet and J.C. Macias) who were transported to the hospital (they are stable and out of danger)
yes he is ok. broken ribs and pierced ear channel. Could have been way worse.
