Awesome Demo! I've been training to become a Sys-Admin and these videos help a lot. I was wondering if you also have (or are planning to create) some videos that get into how to do some of the following advanced things: 1/ How to Sys-Pre a Reference Computer, then create an Image out of it in preparation for mass deployment to end devices on the network, and then show us how companies might use other steps and tools like PXE Boot or maybe alternatively other tools (perhaps MECM or MEM) to deploy that Image (the operating system boot files and setup files etc...) in an Unattended fashion using Scipts? I have no idea how these sorts of things are done by modern day Sys-Admins, but this sort of skill seems so fundamental, that I hope you either already have a course or plan to do a thorough demo like you did on this video, to show us how these things work (in a step by step fashion). 2/ I would also love to see a course on how companies nowadays (in 2024) are performing their virtualization requirements. For example, I have hear of Microsoft Hyper_V but one Sys-Admin I spoke with said that it might be a b it resource intensive and they are using some other Microsoft VIrtualization technology (whose name slips my mind at the moment). I have also heard of VMware ESXi (which I believe is a paid product) and is referred to as a Bare Metal Hypervisor. So I am guessing it's kind of like an "Operating System" that one installs on a Server, and then within this operating environment, we can define Virtual Machines (VMs) for Server, Client Endpoints Devices (like WIndows 10/11 devices used by employees) etc. 3/ I am also wondering if you have any plans to teach how to "Hyberdize" this On-Premises virtual lab that you are teaching, into some kind of Microsoft Tennant Account (like say using a Free Trial of Microsoft Eneterprise E3 or E5) and then show us step by step, how a combination of using GPOs to Auto-Enroll devices in On-Premises Active Directory, plus using Azure tools like Azure AD Connect Sync (I think Azure is now called Entra but anyways)... Show us basically how through auto-Enrollment using GPOs and using Azure AD Connect Sync, we can "Migrate" to the Cloud and have our devices, users, their passwords, and even all the locally defined Security Groups ... for all these local On-Premises objects to Migrate (copy) over and exist on the cloud as well. Then finally show how MEM (microsoft endpoint manager) is used to manage the whole infrastructure. So this is essentially the level of my training so far, but I have not been able to train / study the above 3 highly important Skills. I realize I am skipping a lot of things with Powershell and Python stuff, but that is a whole other world of training in and of itself :p I await your response to me before I subscribe to your channel. I also wondered whey you did not just force GPUPDATE. I usually take a look at the GPRESULT /R / USER before and after to see it kick off when showing others vs a restart. Well done though, I have a ton to learn so I subscribed.
Doing a GPUpdate still won't always make it kick in right away. With gpupdate it can still take up to 24 hours for a policy to kick in sadly. It can be a real pain if your at a client where you're configuring a policy and you want to be sure it's working like it's supposed to before you leave but then it goes and takes forever to kick in xD one of those things Thanks for the feedback king :)
Very helpful video, thanks! :) I need to apply a GPO to a specific group of users, I mean I did three groups "Office users", "Wharehouse users", "IT users", I put them in a OU named Groups but...if I use your guide I can't specify different GPO for different groups, how can I do it?
Very useful. Only thing I am confused is, why at 17:15 go to the Paris/IT/Users and create a group policy? Instead why not go to Group Policy Object and create a group policy named Paris-IT-Users-Wallpaper and then link into Paris/IT/Users? They way how it is demonstrated, I am not sure whether the GPO Wallpaper will be listed under Group Policy Objects. Please clarify.
