LOLLLL... Thanks for doing my pick!!!... You guys had me literally laughing out loud with your lemon comments!.... so Phil, Zep II will forever be my fave album of all time, so fully agree that 1969 was a great time for music.... so musically the part that was lifted from Killin Floor was the up tempo section, but the killer riff and arrangement is all theirs... and Robert, as he liked to do at a young age, lifted some lyrics from his favorite black blues musicians... but still it ends up being all Zeppelin!!!.... and from here on whenever you squeeze some lemon into a drink I hope you think of this song! LOL.... great reaction, more fruit TK!
This is a mashup of Howling Wolf's "Killing Floor" and Robert Johnson's "Lemon Song". Both were strong influences on the band. And it's absolutely the best baseline in rock.
Haha...I was going to suggest this one a while back, but thought nah...it doesnt really fit a category lol. I remember my mom hearing me play it and gave me the "look". That being said, great reaction as always
Oh no! Not another Led Zeppelin song. Whatever will we do when we are forced to listen to probably the greatest rock band that ever existed.😁 Ed, I have had both my shoulders replaced. I wish you the best and speedy recovery. This song was actually based on a couple of old blues songs. One by Robert Johnson and the other one by Howlin Wolf.
Whilst Ed is recuperating ❤️🩹 and possibly unable to type any suggestions, I’d like to step in ( as an old Zephead ) and suggest “ Trampled Underfoot”, from “ Physical Graffiti” in 1975. It has a significant amount of innuendo, trust me. It’s also a lot of fun. Best wishes from England 🏴.
I seem to remember in an interview, Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart, as teens loved Led Zeppelin and especially this song. They loved how "spicy" it is and they were amazed that you could use those kinds of lyrics in music
Howlin' Wolf was the SHIZNIT. He wrote what could be seen as the 1st metal song, "Spoonful", which while not electric, uses the type of finger positions one would expect for amplified guitars.
In 1969, I saw Zeppelin in concert from 30 feet away. They played the entire first album and most of the as yet unrealeased second album, including The Lemon Song! The audience was STUNNED! NEVER had Beach Boy, Motown loving American kids heard something so blatantly sexual in a song. We of COURSE loved it! 55 years ago and it's like yesterday!❤😊
Howlin Wolf was a huge influence on Zep, the Stones, Clapton, the list goes on. Sam Philips, who discovered Elvis and Johnny Cash, called him the greatest artist he ever worked with.
There’s a lot of sadness in blues but also lots of humour in the lyrics. Zeppelin took a lot of it, lots of innuendo stuff goin on. I personally love it
ROBERT PLANT IS IN MY TOP 5 GREATEST CLASSIC ROCK VOCALISTS OF ALL TIME, GUYS YOU NEED TO DIVE DEEP INTO CLASSIC VINYL, DEEP CUTS BY ZEPPELIN WITH RP'S RAW BLUESY VOICE , EDUCATE YOU'RE SELF WITH THE GREAT LED BEING LET OUT! 🎙🎤🕊🎸🎸🔊🎧🎼🎵🎶
A sort of remake of "Killing Floor" by Howlin' Wolf (1964). Howlin' Wolf has a writing credit on it. According to blues guitarist and longtime Wolf associate Hubert Sumlin, the song uses the killing floor - the area of a slaughterhouse where animals are killed - as a metaphor or allegory for male-female relationships: "Down on the killing floor - that means a woman has you down, she went out of her way to try to kill you. She at the peak of doing it, and you got away now ... You know people have wished they was dead - you been treated so bad that sometimes you just say, 'Oh Lord have mercy.' You’d rather be six feet in the ground."
Agree on their 1969 albums, they were revolutionary, nothing quite like them before and established a standard for Rock at its best afterward. They literally shocked us who were there, we knew right away they would be huge and they got even bigger than we could have imagined. Their music is just as good today as when it was released, they will stand the test of time and will be heard for many centuries to come. Same album, do Bring It On Home for another bluesy classic. Zeppelin Rules, enjoy! 🔥🎵🎤🎸🎹🎶🔥
What a great song and the thing they really added was the idea of different sections with different tempos. I think the Killing Floor was the line from the howlin' wolf song period And by the way you should listen to some Howlin Wolf and Willie Dixon and muddy waters, those guys idolized does Blues figures. Check out howlin' wolf Back Door Man or Little Red Rooster, and you will see how amazing it is for something so early.
OOOh YAY YAY & YAY This song is sooo **Naaaaaaasty Beautiful Bad Ass** Thank YOU ever so very MUCH for YOUR **LUV** of **MyBelovedOtherWorldlyLedZeppelin* since i was 7 yrs old **Best Band EVER!!!** **SendingYouManyHealingVibez&MuchLuvtoYOUEd** Thank YOU once again ya **ROCK ED!!!**
Good luck to Ed, hope it goes well. I had my right shoulder replaced about 10 years ago at HSS and it's doing great. Rehab was a b*tch though, stay strong.
You really should check out Jeff Beck's album Truth. You see a lot of similarities with Zeppelin's first album. And why not? Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones made appearances on it. Page and Beck go back a long time, basically learning how to play guitar together. But Truth came out BEFORE Zeppelin's first album.
He shoulda quit her but she squeezes his lemon too good.... this was quite shocking when it was new, but the music is so great, we just laughed at the lyrics. Led Zeppelin were nothing if not provocative in their early days.
I’ve been to so many LZ shows in the seventies….not once did they use this song in their set…..they deprive their fans of their better hits….just my opinion
The Lemon Song is yet another Pagerism from Howlin' Wolf's "Killing Floor". The Song is credited to all 4 members of Led Zeppelin , as well as Chester Burnett. It's curious how someone can claim a writing credit for a cover. It's similar to When the Levee Breaks, written by Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie in 1929. Yet again, the 4 members of Led Zeppelin claim a co-writing credit for another Pagerism. As has been frequently said - Led Zeppelin, World's Greatest Covers Band.
React to Janis Ian singing at 17 and also society's child when she wrote it at age 13 controversial at the time after radio stations in the country Banned it
The bass line is just fantastic in this song
This is my number one Zeppelin track, along with about 60 other ones
"Nobody's Fault But Mine" is a killer tune.
This could be the best recorded bass guitar track in history. The ambience is incredible.
I was 13 when this album came out. I played this song for my father and he made me take it back to the store! I kept it and told him I returned it 😂
Lmao! Your dad sounds like my dad when it came to Zeppelin. Lol

Get better soon Ed. Best wishes from England 🏴.
Agree. Zep II my favorite.

If life gives you lemons…..squeeze them ❤
Haha...I was going to suggest this one a while back, but thought nah...it doesnt really fit a category lol. I remember my mom hearing me play it and gave me the "look". That being said, great reaction as always
Not .." The Look" ..😂
My fave Zep song mainly because of the JPJ bass work
get well Ed Zeppelin
1969, Zep II is my favorite also. They are on fire. Hard rock.
Greatest Rock Band Ever!

yes, I had my first one replaced five years ago, now my second one a few weeks ago... guess we can be part of the double shoulder Zep lovin' club!
@EdA1 sounds good to me!
Great choice! , one of my fav Zep songs...and that bass 👌

I think they walked out of the show because it was such a shock to their senses as teens.
I like the bass line in this. John Paul Jones shows how great he is. Good song. Nice reaction
HEAVY GROOVE. Zep II was just as ballsy as it gets in rock!
Plant is killing it in the vocal, the call and respond with Page/Plant is epic
Howlin' Wolf was the SHIZNIT. He wrote what could be seen as the 1st metal song, "Spoonful", which while not electric, uses the type of finger positions one would expect for amplified guitars.
This was one of my first Zeppelin albums bought it when it came out, and it is still my favorite of all time zeppelin albums
A great blues song by Led Zeppelin is Tea for one ❤

Everyone has their favourite Zeppelin songs and albums. They hit people differently. This song is definitely in my top five!
❤❤❤Robert ❤❤❤
They all played so well, as usual, but yeah, this showcase of their talents...JPJ is first among equals here with that BASS!

Lol! 😊😊😊 yep squeezin that lemon! Believe me...Howlin Wolf never did ANYTHING like this!!
JPJ is a beast
Legend!!

Oooh, that's a little tart! 😄 Great song request and reaction 👍 Ed, all the best on your recovery.
The ultimate innuendo song is AC/DC's Big Balls
very clever
Thanks for more Led Zeppelin ❤
I thought this song was about sweet lemonade. Thanks Ed get well!
it's the grove, just smacks you across the face and burrows into your soul
TBF there are a lot of great Zeppelin songs they didn't play on the radio.
That was fun guys thanks !!
Howling Wolf, Smokestack and Lightning.
A fine piece👏👏👏
I rate this song and For Once In My Life as the greatest bass songs.
John Paul f'ng Jones!
Love the reaction Please reacting to I’m Gonna Crawl by the Mighty LED Zeppelin
Shoulder replacement....the most painful of my 13 surgeries...at least for the first day or two of recovery!
That baseline though !
You MUST listen to Travelling Riverside Blues by Zep where ur fav part of the lemon song “goes even deeper” lolo😂
Shoutout to Ed ❤
Someone once said Led Zeppelin writes songs about love, hobbits and a bit of citrus
Jpj killing it
I have dated a few chics over the last 50 yrs that knew how to 'squeeze my lemon til I fell out of bed'! AS usual Zepplin is the GOAT ✌💖☮
U guys need to do moby dick live from the royal Albert hall to understand how great John Bonham was
JPJ is an absolute god!
You should check out Slash’s (from Guns and Roses) cover of Killing Floor with Brian Johnson (AC/DC) and Steve Tyler (Aerosmith) acompanying❤.
Hang tough, Ed. It will heal. I've learned that.
Lemonade is life.
Hey guys .. A must to check out is Achilles Last Stand .. guaranteed to spin you sideways
Get better Ed! ❤✌️
LED ZEPP is the best
20 songs down and 70 songs to go😮
Awesome reaction😂
Wonder if Lemon Kush was around back then🤔
Probably😜
Puff Puff Pass
that Plant😁
Yeah everyone thinks Zep sings about Tolkien but actually they sing about citrus. Tangerine and The Lemon Song
LMAO😂😂😂😂😂🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Prayers to the Father in the Name if the Son, though the Holy Spirit.
psychically sends ed some healing lemon juice
Good luck to Ed, hope it goes well. I had my right shoulder replaced about 10 years ago at HSS and it's doing great. Rehab was a b*tch though, stay strong.
Listen to some Robert Johnson, the original.

Page and Beck go back a long time, basically learning how to play guitar together. But Truth came out BEFORE Zeppelin's first album.
Truth is great but really sounds nothing like Zeppelin despite the foundational background
I hear lots of the similarities. Heck, they even each included the same song. But we all deserve our opinions.
@ I 100% agree it’s a good comparison that you have to hear and I also agree that Truth is an amazing record!
Rock’s first bukkake song! 🎶 🤪
Who hasn't fallen out of bed a few times, lol.
Why would zep have to acknowledge its Killin floor when in the song Robert sings "killin floor"?
Because squeezing a zucchini just doesn't get you there ... but you might get strong forearms.
Been saying that since 1969 😂
You should react to “moby dick “ live john bohnham!!!
So, are you guys together, or what?😊
adrenaline mob does a great version of this song
Great bass line. Only Entwistle can do it better.
He shoulda quit her but she squeezes his lemon too good.... this was quite shocking when it was new, but the music is so great, we just laughed at the lyrics. Led Zeppelin were nothing if not provocative in their early days.
Good one 😂
Geez, guys, get a room!
🦵🍋😮
Still think you should watch Greta Van Fleet. First watch Robert Plants reaction to them, then watch them. You'll be amazed
I’ve been to so many LZ shows in the seventies….not once did they use this song in their set…..they deprive their fans of their better hits….just my opinion
Funny the lyrics to tjis is considered controversial in 2024..
Compared to the pure junk out there today! 😂

You got a bad mix in this song. Or it is just broadcast that way.
