Can someone help me to understand this? When they're reading out of Deuteronomy all I can think of is that its the old covenant which Hebrews says has been rendered obsolete. Yet there's no denying that they have experienced this blessing...its very confusing to me.

      Dawn Kline
Hi Dawn, sorry this is a little long☺☺ lol but just wanted to help.
The blessing of the Lord did not originate in Deuteronomy. But in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve when God told him to be fruitful and multiply. When Adam sinned he forfeited that Blessing and brought the curse on the earth. That blessing came again on Noah because of his righteousness. Noah passed that blessing to his children particularly Shem. Shem was Terah's ancestor. Terah is Abraham's Father. So logically speaking Abraham should have received this blessing from inheritance through his Father, right. Not necessarily. Terah was a pagan who worshiped other Gods. That means the blessing was not on Terah nor his seed. So how did Abraham get it if his family were pagans? He got it by Faith through covenant relationship with God. God said he'll bless his seed and make them fruitful and multiply them exceedingly. God through Moses in Deuteronomy was only estabsling the blessing that their Father Abraham received through Faith hundreds of years earlier. Ok that's only for the jews right? Paul in Galatians 3:8 says that the blessing Abraham received by faith in Genesis was actually the gospel.
8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before THE GOSPEL UNTO ABRAHAM, saying, In thee shall all nations be BLESSED.
13 Christ hath redeemed us from THE CURSE OF THE LAW, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14 THAT THE BLESSING OF ABRAHAM might come on the GENTLES THROUGH JESUS CHRIST; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
That same blessing Moses talked about is now on us Gebtiles but not because of natural inheritance or being a jew but because of believing the Gospel like Abraham did. Hope that helped.

Dawn Kline Jesus walked out all of the law so we get the benefits NOT the curse because the curse is reversed. He is the tithe, he paid for us to walk in the blessing.

We get the blessing and all in it because Jesus walked out and fulfilled the law. We are rightous because of him we sit with him and we reign with him.
