A tiny whiff is all it takes, even on an old D8H, D7G & Kumagutser 85A. One of my jobs used to be cold starter and then jump down and spoon the mud off the track rollers & tensioners for the days work.....then I got to play with them like the big boys do :)
It's at the auction, on someone else's machine and I honestly had none on me. Would you let someone start feeding summer in a can to your machine without you around? I'd probably shit bricks since we know how liberally people use it on an engine they won't be paying for.
Yes and no....While my new track loader does start somewhat better than this, it's not by much. Some of these new computer controlled engines don't like cold weather much more than the old ones.
I love the 9H, up north the whiskey jacks used to beg for hand-outs at lunch and leave feathers stuck to the muffler
Nice start, excellent sound ,thank you. Love these old school Cat's.

Bright and sunny with a high of freakin freezing.
This was a warm day, it was above freezing.
I wish i could make that cold start sound my ring tone....
Cylinders* running on all cylinders haha she just purrs along nicely
Turn the start switch back to glow when they are firing like that and it helps them "clean up"
Old girl don’t like the cold! Every boom I ran was like that lol
Amazing how Diesel engines have improved over the years
Musta been really cold!!
I hear popcorn in the making

Why do i get the feeling that when you guys in canada say "cold start", you really mean it??? BRRRRR
I find the video interesting.
I think you spend more time at RB's than a real jobsite sometimes.
1 day every 2 or 3 months. I spend 2 days every 2 or 3 months at a real jobsite!
