I don't think it's a race thing. The sort of Christians that get a bug up their collective butts about Pokémon also freak out about Harry Potter, He-man and Scooby Doo.

***** Actually, I think they're getting angry over the pentagram due to it's connections with Wicca. It has a "magical" association in American/Western cultures too.
The inverted or upside down pentagram has been adopted by satanists, which I think many Christians also find upsetting and get the normal pentagram and the inverted pentagram confused. It's not racist because it's not fueled by race ie they're not saying it's evil purely because it's Japanese or associated with Japanese culture.

I always hate how people freak out about Lopunny. Yea maybe she represents the female form very well, but why is that such an issue? Why does society instantly have to act like its sexy and dirty. Machamp is a very masculine male figure pokemon, but does anyone freak out because he looks like a half naked body builder? NO.

Actually Lopunny is rather suggestive, if you ever notice when you send one out into battle in Platinum she winks at your screen. Not to mention Lopunny's cry somewhat resembles the stereotypical whistling sound guys make at attractive women. I feel like even Lopunny's idle animation in Pokemon Black+White is rather femine and flirty too.

When I was a kid almost every adult hated pokemon and tried to find fault with everything that had to do with pokemon only because they didnt understand it. I use to think thats why religious people got involved due to the many parents complaining about it because the more people complain about something the more people start thinking it must be bad. I always thought Ludicolo was based on the Kappa. The Kappa is said to be so obsessed with manners that one way to escape one is to bow, and the kappa will bow back and tip out the water in the plate on it's head which will render it paralysed until the water is refilled. Actually there's a lot of evidence to say that Jynx was based on blackface-style art, but that the Japanese people who drew this work didn't intend any offense; they were just copying art from the west without knowing the racism attached to it.

I don't get the problem with Ludicolo. It's such a fun, happy, energetic Pokemon. It may be stereotypical, but if it is really a stereotype, then it's a compliment in some ways. I still love Ludicolo and Lombre in the anime.

Two, are Jynx, Electabuzz, and Magmar a trio, like every region's three starter Pokemon or Eevee's three Kanto counterparts? And three, speaking of Electabuzz, would it have been allowed in the P1 of the Punchy Pokemon? Geodude was (and please, don't use the TCG as a reference, because it doesn't exist within the anime).

Actually a star in a circle is a pentacle, which is the Wiccan star (not Satanic). The upside down star in a circle is the pentagram.

Jynx is most likely based on a multitude of Asian legends, such as Yama-uba, and I believe that the ganguro trend (which being blackface, actually is racist in some respects) came after Red and Green's release.
