I have been researching power supplies for a good long time and had really enjoyed the setup and size of this little unit. However, I was skeptical about it since some of the reviews said that the fan is really loud. Thanks for taking the time to debunk that kind of thinking as well as helping other amateur radio operator enthusiasts that would possibly be considering this unit.

The first 4230 supply I purchased was infected with RFI birdies, especially on 40 meters...I was horrified!! So, I filled out an MFJ repair request and two days later I got a reply they were shipping me a new, replacement 4230 and a RA to return original supply. The replacement supply was birdie free on all bands and has powered my IC-7300 since then without any issues. 73/k6sdw

I would have liked to have seen the voltage and its regulation. Also, noisy can also mean noise generated within the receiver's passband. Some power supplies have a knob to change the oscillator frequency slightly to move harmonics away from a desired signal.

Have a need for a 30a PS in one of my portable rig boxes. I was concerned about the Nx. But you sold me! I'm picking one up at MFJ on Monday! 73

Thanks for the review, Pascal! How was the voltage regulation when you transmitted? Was there much of a voltage sag when you had a 22 amp load? Cheers, VE3NAP

I really enjoy this PS I feed a Rig Runner4004U that powers the rest of my equipment. Now I know it will support the HF rig I hope to get. 73's

Good review. I'm looking to get this one, or similar-in-size power supply. Have you tested/heard anything about the Jetstream JTPS14M ?

Thanks Jimmy. No I didn't tested the Jetstream, the MFJ-4230MVP is now my main power supply in the shack and it work perfectly. 73 Pascal VA2PV.

Hello,I have the MFJ-4035MV power supply, which was stored in a box for over 10 years. Previously it was working well. But now the voltage meter fluctuates and does not stay as set with the voltage adjustment knob. I did open the unit up to blow any dust in there but the problem persist. Can you tell me why this is happening?

Hi James, I can't say for sure, but here's been I would do. 1) Make sure the button on the right side of the meter is in V (voltage) not A (amps) if you're in amps mode it will vary when you transmit. 2) If I was you, I would get a multimeter and monitor the voltage on another meter. Just to make sure it's not only the meter. Good luck. 73 Pascal VA2PV

Would you use this in place of an Astron at the home station (if you didn't already have one) if buying today for a typical 100w rig?

Hi Matt, I have 4 power supply in my shack, two of them are traditional Astron, a 35A with meters and the other is a 20A with meters as well. They've been in my shack for years, but they tend to vibrate and if I'm not using a shock mount on my microphone it gets into my transmit audio (hum). I have a Kenwood PS-60 that is a switching and this new one, the MFJ-4230MVP. Something is sure is that I will never buy another traditional PSU in the future, it will always be switching. I will see over time, but if it is good as it is in a year, I will probably replace me to Astron because they also generate a lot of heat for nothing. 73 Pascal VA2PV
