I do not understand why this video so underated, content is high quality. Thank you very much for making this type of video. I'm a lover of old cars. Great support
Taking the engine and gearbox out as a lump is much easier. I blew up and replaced the engine three times on mine, and knackered a gearbox. I could get the whole lot out in 15 minutes and back in in half an hour - as a lone 17 year old. I bloody loved my Fiat 500 - had it for 21 years.
For the love of whoever or whatever you hold dear, please use axle stands. I know it is a light car. I had to change the clutch on a 2007 VW New Beetle and this looks to be a LOT easier. Those gears have seen better days. Would it be possible to weld the damaged gear and recut the gear teeth?
Maybe. But the gearboxes on these are still cheap, especially on this which is a Non-synchronised model. Probably should’ve Axel stands in hindsight but, nobody died. It’s all SO easy to work on
A Fiat 500 might be a light car by modern standards, but how stupid can one be to attempt to work under the car which is supported by a BENT piece of timber held up by 2 hydraulic jacks--if that car was to come down (iether the timber snapping or a jack failing) you would be finnishing the video with a picture of an ambulance or a hearse! NEVER, EVER work under a car unless it is on stands. A Good quality pair of stands are not expensive, and most probably a lot cheaper than the loss of work due to a squashed part of ones body---never seen such stupidity in all my life--and then to show it on a u-tube film, words fail me. I AM a 500 owner, and at 77 I can still do all my own repairs, including taking the engine in/out----1-1/2 hours to take out from starting to put the jack under the car (15 mins, I think not, even when I worked on them as a young mechanic). It is MUCH easier to replace the gearbox when the engine is removed first.

Quality wrenching video. Please use jackstands so you can continue to make more of these.

That jack arrangement is sketchy as hell, and I love it! Very enjoyable video.
Great video, thanks for sharing.
Yes lift jack is best option for 💪💪. Safety first
Good job buddy,
Thanks for posting.

Amazing skilled guy
love the colour
Brilliant! Effort and ingenuity trump expertise and experience 🤣
oops Great work,
how much time you spent for this process?😲
A good part of 6-7 hours I should think. If we did it right the first time, it would’ve been more like 2 hours!
@@TyredFormat ohhhh I see
Awww fiat 😍
😍👍
That pseudo-Italian, miniature front number plate is really trying too hard.
Dommage dommage de bricoler une boîte à vitesse parterre 😢😢sur une table ou un établi se serait intelligent 😅😅😅
Era più bella la mia verniciata a pennello col minio
