He was also abandoned by his father, and lost his best friend. I don't believe that hardships teach you about kindness, but rather highlights the best (or worse) of what's already in people's hearts. Keanu is, with Denzel Washington, the only celebrity that I still admire to this day.

The closest thing I can come up with is years ago when I dated someone he began working for the navy top clearance, IT department, securing connections between Afghanistan and the US., anyway at the first three weeks of his employment his new boss and bunch of other people from his work were getting together after work to get to know each other..! I don’t think I had a clue what that meant, but soon I found myself staying up waiting to hear from him till 1,1:30 am., worrying that maybe he had a car accident, that maybe he is in the hospital, that maybe he’s been hurt.! I mean all kinds of things went through my head., I even thought about calling him mom to ask her but because it was so late I decided against it. I asked my boyfriend why he didn't text me or call me the whole night, so at least I wasn't staying up all night worried. His response was: I did not think of it.., yet he told me that the whole night he was thinking about me and he wasn’t looking at the strippers he was looking at his watch..! I didn’t believe that BS😆🙄🙄 When I asked him why he didn't tell his new boss that he is in a relationship and that he didn't want to go to such establishments, he said that his job depended on him going along to the strip clubs. Since he was asking me to marry him I said well obviously you can get one of the strippers to marry you, because you be frequent in there. I met Keanu at Le Mans in 2015, he had no guards, nobody around him, just a seemingly normal guy, really easy to talk with, and he has genuine passion for Le Mans and racing bikes. Super humble, and zero ego.

I have immense respect for Keanu as an actor and as a person. He's really anti Hollywood in every sense. Humble, respectful and without ego unlike many of other actors. The fact there are so many ordinary people who have positive stories to tell about their meetings with him speaks volumes.

Do you know what, I'm a 68 year old retired Policeman from the UK, and I've seen and heard things I can never forget. So having heard this story of Keanu Reeves, it brought tears to my eyes. It is so refreshing to see a real Hollywood star being so humble and generous and thinking of others first, I would love to have the chance to shake his hand and say thank-you. Only time will tell.

I agree. That's why we all should try to be kind too. We may not be celebrities, but that doesn't mean we can't make a possitive effect in our enviroment and the people around us. A kind person is extremely valuable nowdays, with so much hate in social media and the society overall, the good effect a simple act of kindness can create should not be underestimated. As you said, a world full of people like Keanu would be amazing. How about YOU and ME become that person for the people around us. Who knows? Throughout the years, I've never really understood why people idolize this man so much. But now, I can definitely see why. He hasn't let the fame get to his head, and he seems to just want to continue the stuff that brings him passion in life. This video has made me respect Keanu a hell of a lot more than I did already.
Keanu was never really known for his great acting, oftentimes he was called "robotic" - it's one of the reasons he suited Matrix so well and later John Wick. His performance as Johnny Silverhand was brilliant and oddly heartwarming - depending on whether you got his relationship high enough ofc He's a genuinely good person. I think if any actor deserves success it's Keanu.

I asked my boyfriend why he didn't text me or call me the whole night, so at least I wasn't staying up all night worried. His response was: I did not think of it.., yet he told me that the whole night he was thinking about me and he wasn’t looking at the strippers he was looking at his watch..! I didn’t believe that BS😆🙄🙄 When I asked him why he didn't tell his new boss that he is in a relationship and that he didn't want to go to such establishments, he said that his job depended on him going along to the strip clubs. Since he was asking me to marry him I said well obviously you can get one of the strippers to marry you, because you be frequent in there. I broke up with him as you can imagine, but I never forgot how quickly he turned into another man. His values and morals were gone, I imagine being in Hollywood is in many ways the same. Do you know what, I'm a 68 year old retired Policeman from the UK, and I've seen and heard things I can never forget. So having heard this story of Keanu Reeves, it brought tears to my eyes.
